I agree it brings families together.Me and my brother live together yet hardly see one another as he works 3rds and I work 2nds.So every year we go to Florida for a week and spend most of our time together in a way catching up on things and enjoying our love of everything Disney.

i was very lucky as a child as every 1-2 years my Dad would take us down to Florida and on our last 2 days we'd go to WDW...that is until my parents divorced. The rift really struck a deep blow that is still playing out decades later :( Needless to say my family all live far from each other (say for my brother and I) and I only get to see them once a year or so.

last year was the first year since i went last w/ my family as a whole and as soon as I walked through the gate (maybe even on the Magical Express) all I could feel was my family's warmth, whole and true, surrounding me. I was a little kid again, no worries and surrounded by tons of loving people...It's the first trip i've ever been on where I didn't hear any children screaming or crying (even on the plane rides).

I love Disney and how it connects me to my family. I plan to get married there and am always up for sharing my trips w/ those who haven't had the pleasure of experiencing WDW.

My gf didn't want to go last year but once we were there, she loved it just as much as I did! She's really jealous and a bit sad that she went to Vegas this year instead of going to WDW w/ my brother and I.

I'm glad that Disney's wonderful sense of values, exploration and imagination exist in a world full of crabs & bad apples.

I just get a special feeling when I am there.
I can't explain it exactly.
It's that "childhood happiness" feeling. :)
I get that feeling especially when I am in the MK.

trust me, I know tons of answers to this...

I do hear that question a lot, generally from people that have never been and don't understand why I listen to the park music on my iPod all the time:D

My answer is always that it is the atmosphere, and the "Disney Magic."
What others have you guys come up with

*I ran a search, and couldn't find this topic, so just delete it if it's a repeat

i just love seeing the look on a kids face when they see their favorite character. to me universal doesnt even come close to disney, its just not as family oriented, guys walking around without shirts on, smoking all over the park, just wouldnt want my kids around that

Wow where to start...its magical!
It's the only place i've ever been where as soon as you drive on property you forget your problems! You spend time with your nearest and dearest and dork around! You can wear mickey ears and not feel silly lol It makes you a kid again :animwink:

My Disney traveling companions include my 44 yr old brother, 30 yr old cousin, 27 yr old cousin, 20 yr old son, 19 yr old niece, 17 yr old niece, (their 46 yr old mom comes every couple year with us) and I am 48. This wide range of ages at some other vacation destinations might not play nice together but at Disney, everything is nice. Disney is exactly what Walt wanted it to be, an "amusement enterprise" where families could all do stuff together. As was posted earlier, if you have to ask........

I am not sure that I could ever express why Disney is so special to me, I just love it. I love everything from the time we start planning until we go, and then once we are there, it's just amazing. I love all of the detail and thought that went into everything from the landscape, the music, the attractions & characters. I love the resorts and the wonderful places that we eat at while we are there. Most of all, I love feeling that I am in a whole new world with my family and we are all having fun. My little boy is now calling Disney "my place". He loves it almost as much as me.

Very well stated!

I actually was one of those "I don't understand it" people until our trip this past August...there is something for everyone, every age and the best thing of all it can be enjoyed TOGETHER, Walt's dream and vision.

My only problem now is figuring out when to go back! The heat of August meltd me!

I can't find words to describe it. It is all intangibles.

However, I think it's the music and details. Any theme park can build and put in the day's recent hits and make it look medevial. But Disney does it x10 as better.

i get asked this so often.... i usually say "its the only place i can walk around with a light up crown or ears on and people wont stare. Its the only place where its okay for me to act or feel like i'm 5 years old.. its the only place where my dorkiness is accepted" etc. After i say that, they still don't get it, even if they have ben there. you really cant describe it or put it into words.. no one undestands except for people like us..

When I'm asked, (alot!) I always say the same thing, when I pass under the welcome sign all the problems that are on the outside stay there, they don't follow me in, and I don't worry about them while there. I can act as silly as I want and no one will think that I'm strange or something else. And if they still don't get it I say don't knock it till you've tried it. We have a neighbor who was like that, mind you WAS, and has since been there 2 times and loves it totally. 31 days till visit 17....... NOT SOON ENOUGH!!! :sohappy::sohappy::D

why so special

In short, Disney World is the only place that takes me completely out of the real world. I have been on vacations that I have actually cut short because there was not enough to occupy my mind. As a result, I start thinking about what I should be doing at home...at work...
When I have been at WDW, I don't think about home until I get back on the plane.

Interesting as I was thinking about this a few hours ago.

I was watching a video of Star Tours and one of my favourite things about Disney was clear to see. It's the theming. With Disney, it's not just about the ride: it's the story around the ride. Star Tours is, essentially, a simulator, like so many others. But from the second you enter the queue, you are immeresed in the Star Wars universe. Its themed to a "spaceport" and has AA's of characters interacting with each other and the guests.

Compare this to something such as Wild Artic in Sea World. Those of you fimiliar with it, the queue consists of nothing more than a few television screens. For me, this is Disney. They don't do anything by half and endever to make every ride a full experience
