Why Hollywood Studios is being rebuilt

Yeah ... here's what was removed from Bluesky Disney:

Cool. Thank You!

Disappointed that the polynesian movie is yet another CG animated film. I think it would have been a perfect film to reignite traditional animation but sadly that is a lost cause at this point. No wonder Disney corporate is all but giving up on their animation units and putting their cash behind Star Wars and the Marvel Universe.

The plot thickens. Like goo.

To any and all at TWDC who may be reading this forum.

Leaks, not leaks, all that stuff . . . we know it may seem like the apocalypse to
you in your personal lives as you come and go to work and jockey for position and
work to impress and make a living, etc. I get it. Inside office politics--especially
in a large, ostensibly creative company with a critical public face--have to be tough
to endure. Rough seas to sail.

But, you know what? To hear about all this internal strife is so sad to all of us out
here that are pulling for the company to shine, to succeed, to EXCEED and point
the way to innovation and new experiences in theme parks. Whether something
is leaked or not is mostly irrelevant in the long run. What is relevant is compelling
content, astonishingly realized. The old trope if you build it, they will come. Take
your IP, and SLAM DUNK IT into great park experiences. Please. It just feels like
there is so much wheel spinning and hesitation, and not the bold leadership and
vision that caused us all to care so much, to care enough to be critical.

Fix what's broken. Paint what needs it. Restore entertainment. Restore unique
merchandise. Unique food options. Clean those parks so hard they shine. Train
those CM's so thoroughly that they delight and surprise at every turn. Make it
a great place to work.

And then--build the hell out of some new attractions that make our jaws drop.
Astonish and astound us. Surround us. Take us to places we've never been. Show
us effects that feel like magic. Spin us, lift us, drop us, and return us to earth.

Let us enter the parks--as we used to--bringing friends and relatives, and say "see,
THIS is how you do a theme park and NO ONE ELSE comes close". Details. Story. Service.
Look to your cruise ships--it can still be done.

Do that--and none of this internal mess will matter to you. Office politics be damned,
you are in it to win, by a huge margin. By a mile.

We're pulling for you--we few rabid fans who visit these sites--we know we're not
the masses, just a fraction of attendance--but as in all things, critical mass builds
from small groups of what y'all in corporate-land call taste-makers, opinion-leaders,
and other funny mashed up words.

We're doing what we can. All we ask is that you keep your eye on the prize. And that's
the best damned theme park anywhere. By a mile. By a Walt Disney Mile.

Shove the petty politics aside and get busy doin' it. Please.

Do not get the point of this thread.
The rumours on the board are for the most part useless, so every now and then you may have something a big solid who cares? It does not mean even these maybe slightly more informed rumours may come true.

Why is spell check telling me rumours is spelled wrong bizarre?

Modest relative to neither. Disney will get more bang for their buck than New Fantasyland but this will not be a DCA-style makeover.

NFL: $+/-$400 million. I refuse to believe they spent this much but that is what all the data seems to indicate

DCA 2.0: $1+ billion

Avatar: $700+ million

DHS Overhaul: <$600 million

I hope this post motivates shareholders the way @WDW1974 and I brought what is going down at SEAS to world's attention.
SEAS?

My Open Letter to whomever from TWDC may be reading this;

Is there anyone is a position of power that cares about the product(s)?

Thank you,

Sue

There is, many actually, but unfortunately most of them are not in a position to influence those higher then them to make a huge difference in many cases.
Corp politics make even the most passionate creative think twice about stepping over the line sometimes...

It is not all doom and gloom though.....brighter times are just ahead.

You will see....

Ah, okay, gotcha. Yeah, Mr. Lutz is not much of a WDW fan. He's made a few trips there over the years and always has some pretty critical things to say in his column compared to Disneyland when he returns.
It sounds like the MiceAge article was accurate though. You can't call someone negative if they're reporting negative information.

Yeah ... here's what was removed from Bluesky Disney:

The future under The Hat Building is being revealed...

When the schedule was announced a couple of weeks ago, a lot of people were confused as so many of the films coming out fromWalt Disney Animation Studios had the same name: "untitled". Well, perhaps it should've just been said unrevealed. Because now we will slowly start to give you a hint as to what lies ahead, and what you can be prepared to see over the next few years.

Other sites have started to get an inkling as to what is ahead, so I've been given permission to reveal a little more of what's ahead by my Bothans. After "Frozen" comes out this year (expect the actual trailer out around "Cloudy 2") we have next year's most unusual animated film yet with the Marvel adaptation of "Big Hero 6" to make an impression on Disney fans like no film before it. Then WDAS takes a year break before starting back again on 2016 with Nathan Greno's new twist on fairy tales entitled "Giants" which will show you how much his influence on "Tangled" truly was. Later in the year Byron Howard's (sans Greno who was attached before his own project) "Zootopia" staring a very foxy Jason Bateman ends out 2016.

After a short break we'll finally get Ron and John's next feature, "Moara" which will be a Polynesian tale involving the island folk and the idols made famous the world over. It will also mark the directing duo's first computer animated film, or at least computer hybrid animated film (think "Paperman"). Following that, if story issues are worked out Dean Wellin's teenage space race animated film will rush to the screens. Wellin's film is an unusual story that is different from most Disney Animation, just as Big Hero 6 marks a change in perception of what comes from the Mouse.

After that there are a couple projects being developed right now that are way too early to really get into. But as you can see, the list of animated films coming ahead are more than just fairy tales. And John Lasseter is working hard to make sure that the quality and content are focused and entertaining the way that fans expect animated films from Burbank. So to put it in chronological perspective for you here is the schedule:

Frozen (2013)

Big Hero 6 (2014)

Giants (2016)

Zootopia (2016)

Moara (TBA, likely 2018)

Untitled Dean Wellin's animated feature ( TBA, likely 2018)

Just get some animated shorts in front of them...

Thanks for posting this!

It's nice that you sense passion. What I wanted sensed was more the fact that most,
if not all the news that I run into here evokes a *HEAVY SIGH* accompanied by a
shoulder slump,as opposed to, well, just about anything else. I'm tired of that from
a company that has mostly inspired me for years and years. So I thought this might
be a good place to drop a Gipper speech. We shall see.
