Why Hollywood Studios is being rebuilt

Much has been made on the boards recently about how the recent leaks of WDI plans were done in a fit of some intra-company fury at the D23 division from WDI and WDPR because of weird Disney company politics.

I just want to make one thing clear to the substantial number of WDPR personnel who are now actively viewing this message board looking for clues. Your sinking ship has more leaks than the Iraqi navy. The source of this information leak absolutely does not give a damn whether or not D23 sinks or sails this August. That was never the point when they chose to share these details to the world.

I was asked to convey this message on behalf of individuals who wish for this statement to be heard. That is all.

It's what happens on what is probably the least censored Disney fan forum left on the internet. I hope @wdwmagic lets the freedom of speech reign, such as it is with respect to a Disney fan site.

But in this particular instance, there is a small amount of urgency in clearing up some fog.

Fog of war? Such a small percentage of the theme park going population even frequents boards like this... I don't see why it really matters. Is it the whole espionage thing? Worried that UNI might beat them to a real announcement?

Or is there some information versus misinformation campaign going on here?

You think the threads that @WDW1974 or myself generate don't at least attract some scrutiny by some key WDW personnel that matter? I know the Spirit has quite the fan following around the resort these days.

I was just asked to relay a message on behalf of some very ed off people in Orlando who don't want to get roped in on D23 BS.

When leaks are made on information that is factual but not announced that is an issue in ANY company when it was not planned. In today's day in age with internet being readily accessible to nearly every individual in the country leaks are an even larger issue. While Die-Hard Yippie Kye Yay enthusiasts are few and far between it does not rule out what general population park goers here. I am sure that the number of guest visits to this site is much higher than member readership is daily. Once one site picks something up ten others do as well and run with it. When guest viewership across the board is outweighing the members it is a safe bet that several of those are general park goers. You would be surprised how much non die hard fans google about if anything is new. Once they find a forum and read a few posts they are hooked to finding things out.

I feel that is the large issue. That does not even get into showing hands to other companies that can use the info to their benefit even it is just for strategic planning of announcements.

Also keep in mind that while only a fraction of Disney Park visitors frequent this site the diehard fans here will spread the word fast through facebook, social media, etc. When I heard about the plans for Star Wars land I mentioned it to parents, friends, etc. rumors are the ultimate form of viral marketing.

So.... this whole business about King Kong returning to Universal Studios Florida in a mega attraction in 2015.....

Stick a fork in DHS. It's done. They're better off closing the park entirely and fast tracking major improvements than operating 2/3 of a weak park against a Universal Studios that will be this strong.

I do look forward to racking up some walk-on rides on RnRC during the "transition" though.

Wait The King Kong rumor is legitimate? I thought WDW1974 said it was bogus

Thank you, that's exactly the point I was making. His beat is DL, not WDW. I was simply adding the observation that Al tends to be neutral to negative about WDW on the occasions when he does mention anything on the east coast.

Ah, okay, gotcha. Yeah, Mr. Lutz is not much of a WDW fan. He's made a few trips there over the years and always has some pretty critical things to say in his column compared to Disneyland when he returns.

Oooooh. I'm loving this!!!

Yeah, me too. The corporate drama is hilarious to think about, especially if there are folks in TDO who actually think things are just fine with the parks and the WDW property overall.

Did I miss some major post that spilled all the beans? Or are we talking about merely a summation of the various rumors and plans that have dribbled out in several different threads here about a coming DHS Makeover, plus a few passing mentions recently from folks like Al Lutz? Or was there some bombshell announcement in the last 48 hours that I missed?

Oh, and also, I just Googled it and apparently Iraq does have an actual Navy. Supposedly they aren't very good though.

So to understand more fully... P&R made this leak as a dig at D23? Seems like it backfired to me, since I've been considering making the trip out to the expo much more now that the prospects of a major announcement are higher.
