A car maybe was bought yesterday 🤭

They wouldn't let me drive it off the lot....airbag recall. This is the 3rd car I've bought (I don't count buying family and neighbors crap cars)....second one with an airbag issue.

Just when I get done with my current car payments :D. But goodbye and good riddance to Kia.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
@JenniferS , my guess is that you're in the busy real estate, summer sales season. Hope you and Mike catch a break now and then, to enjoy some interesting attractions up in that area. Any local swimming holes, or fun hiking trails to explore in that region? Any good restaurants?
New homes sales are dead in the summer. Always have been … this year particularly so.

Unlike resale, there is no urgency to buy new during the summer months, as your closing date is one, two, or more years in the future, so there’s no rush to get things wrapped up before school starts.

Offices are closed on Fridays. There isn’t additional staff right now to cover for our extra day off, so we’re both working 6 days/week. We’re getting paid for working our off day, which has been a godsend, as it’s literally the only money we’re making right now. Things traditionally pick up in the fall, when resale coincidentally falls off.

We’ve been spending our one day off each week exploring our new home. We’ve visited numerous lift locks on the Trent Severn Waterway. Bobcaygeon (where “I saw the constellations reveal themselves one star a time”)* and Fenelon Falls are next. Spenser is coming up tomorrow for a couple of days. I haven’t seen either of my boys in more than two months, although they both call me everyday … twice if I fail to say “I love you” at the end of the first call. 😂

Pics from last Friday. We got a late start, because we had a stupid 90 minute Zoom meeting that broke the day in half. (The boss realized I wasn’t impressed and our bi-weekly meetings have now been moved to Mondays.)

You can tell I'm not a real estate agent, as I had just assumed that the summer would be a busy time for sales.

Sorry to hear you're working 6 days, but understand that the extra money comes in handy. And as you said, in the fall, things will pick up for you both.

It's  that you're getting out and exploring around the area. I'm really enjoying the photos you shared! Great pictures of the train and the parks, etc. Nice area you're in now (not that your previous area wasn't as nice).

And of course, you know that my FAVORITE photo is my plaque!!! 🥰🥰 You're one of the few people who send me plaque photos! You know that's how I learn new things. (Never mind the internet -- PLAQUES are WHERE IT'S AT -- literally!!) :hilarious::hilarious:

A friend and I went hiking at Devil's Lake today. I think I've shared pictures of the place before. I've only ever hiked up the east bluff trails, but today we did the west bluff. It was an intense, steep hike at the start before leveling off at the top. The pictures don't do it justice how high up we actually were. There were people kayaking in the water that looked like ants.

I so LOVE Devil's Lake! My grandparents spent the whole summer at the Dells and I spent most of my summers growing up there. These are back in the days when we could take our bikes up and down the strip and the surrounding area with no parents. I have so many happy memories hiking at Devil's Lake. My wife and I still do it every time we return.

Looks like a beautiful area. Fellow hiker here -- I understand when you mentioned that photos don't do it justice, to show how high up on the trail you actually were. I believe you! :joyfull: (Sometimes, the depth perception in photos of scenic vistas, can be a bit off.)

I was curious on the name Devil's Lake so I looked it up. And yet it still baffles me that it got the name Devil's Lake after being a sacred place to the Indians.

I know the name of it now. The spot in Brazil where some pictures have you hanging from a rock with a big fall but your really not. Pedra do Telegrafo

Looking back, I guess you can see the little white dots in the lake. Those are the kayaks and canoes.

I spent the day up in my classroom working. Got there around 9:45, left around 3. I managed to move some furniture around, and I liked it this time. I got rid of a lot of stuff that I haven't used in years. There's still a big mess in my room. The start of classroom setup consists of making a huge mess, starting 12 projects, and completing none of them.

Then when I got home, I dropped some stuff off at my parents' house. Then I went to get gas and a carwash. I stopped to get some cash and some snacks because tomorrow I'm going on an overnight trip to the Dells and visiting some waterparks. I also had to pack a bag for that tonight yet, too.

I'm exhausted. I haven't eaten anything other than a granola bar today. I need to get used to working full days again.

From the looks of the Weather report we are going to have our own water park tomorrow when Debby shows up. Lot's of flooding and downed trees due to soil saturation. I live on a very high spot in the area so if flooding becomes a thing if it gets up to my place we have more than a little flooding to worry about. It would then be Arc building time.
