New homes sales are dead in the summer. Always have been … this year particularly so.
Unlike resale, there is no urgency to buy new during the summer months, as your closing date is one, two, or more years in the future, so there’s no rush to get things wrapped up before school starts.
Offices are closed on Fridays. There isn’t additional staff right now to cover for our extra day off, so we’re both working 6 days/week. We’re getting paid for working our off day, which has been a godsend, as it’s literally the only money we’re making right now. Things traditionally pick up in the fall, when resale coincidentally falls off.
We’ve been spending our one day off each week exploring our new home. We’ve visited numerous lift locks on the Trent Severn Waterway. Bobcaygeon (where “I saw the constellations reveal themselves one star a time”)* and Fenelon Falls are next. Spenser is coming up tomorrow for a couple of days. I haven’t seen either of my boys in more than two months, although they both call me everyday … twice if I fail to say “I love you” at the end of the first call.
Pics from last Friday. We got a late start, because we had a stupid 90 minute Zoom meeting that broke the day in half. (The boss realized I wasn’t impressed and our bi-weekly meetings have now been moved to Mondays.)
