I took Walter to a Nature Center this morning, because we had Sun (briefly) for the first time in a week (gone now.) I put a ramp up to the back of the SUV to load him but he always lets me guide him down as he cautiously jumps out. When we got home he refused to get out. He stood up looked down, reverse moved to the backside of the hatch bed and refused to get out. I had to put up his ramp and then he indignantly walked the ramp.

Incentive for them to take their meds nicely.

Now pay a caregiver at assisted living to hand my MIL her pills and watch her swallow them so she actually takes her meds. The meds in a Sunday through Saturday individual boxes, with an alarm set on the iPad that said take pills didn't work. :cautious:

I once had a flight leave 45 minutes early because the crew would have timed out during the flight if they left any later. I was not a happy camper. It delayed my arrival home by 3 hours. And I was on time, even early, for my flight. Somebody wasn't thinking about customer service in this case. I was in public busing at the time and one of the cardinal sins was to leave before departure time. It could get you fired.

Unfortunately airlines can't think of customer service when making these decisions. If the aircraft is delayed from its scheduled departure time registered with the FAA the airline starts to be fined by the minute if the jetway is not pulled from the aircraft and all door sealed (luggage included.) That is why even if the the plane doesn't have clearance to back out from the gate yet and passengers start arriving from a late arriving connecting flight, where they could logically put the jet way back up, they won't. They will let passengers sit there and stare at the aircraft at the gate and not board them.

The reason why the FAA does this is the planes depart and land in 'banks' of flights, first out goes the departures, then they land the next bank of flights. A plane left behind for mechanical problems, waiting for crews, passengers messes up more than their own flight but the landing flights too. It doesn't cause as much of a problem in small market airports but at major airports you start to see the domino effect. Flights that are having issues will either depart quickly or get cancelled to avoid the FAA fines.

About 1:15, each way, if I take the toll route. Maybe 1:45, if I don't.

This is Phase 2 of the site Hubby just finished. His 407 bills were in excess of $500 each month.

Lots of money to be made. But that kind of coin for toll charges just irks me.

They started building toll roads here in Central Texas several years ago.
I am proud to say I have NEVER driven one of them EVER.

Shopping after 10:00 PM is an interesting phenomenon to me. I'm always asleep well before that. At the opposite end of this shopping spectrum, I wouldn't mind getting groceries around 5 AM, because there wouldn't be much of a queue. However, stores in my area don't open until 7 AM. It's frustrating. :grumpy:

We have a lot of stores open 24 hrs. around here. We've been thankful for that a few times over the years. :)

I agree, but, this one left a full 45 minutes early, not late. It left some, including myself stranded in the airport for 3+ hours. I'm sorry but that is not the fault of any regulations that is the fault of poor planning on somebodies part. I cannot think of any reason why this could be blamed on a delay when the plane was not only there, but able to leave well before their departure time.

You said it. The crew would expire so they needed to get that plane airborne. If they waited, they would expire and cause the flight to be delayed, fined or cancelled. They likely needed that air craft at the next airport for the next flight to be a go and the passengers abandoned at the departing airport were merely collaterally delayed.
In their minds it was worth the cost savings to just plop the abandoned on the next flight.

I completely understand the scheduling of aircraft's still I had to deal with the 'you's' that were abandoned countless times a day. Worse when the Mother Nature played a hand in another city and the passengers couldn't grasp bad weather when it was sunny out. I actually got very good at numbing myself to it all and just saying yes sir, I understand sir, yes sir and let them spin out until they finally let me rebook them. When you see the long lines for rebooking, realize they are not likely slow. It takes a long time to let a passenger vent before they can get to business at hand and the next passenger will also need their 5 minutes to rant.

I hear ya. I do it under protest.
That being said, my time and aggravation are worth something.

If you figure one hour saved per day, 20 days per month, divided by $500 = $25/hour.

Is my time worth $25/hour? You bet your sweet patootie it is.
Not to mention saving wear and tear on my car, brakes, and tires by not being in stop and go traffic.
Plus, I can claim tolls on my income tax.

None of which makes me hate the 407 corporation any less. Blood suckers!
