When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
In the event any of you are coming to Chicago and rent a Divvy Bike the Dan Ryan expressway does not have protected bike lanes! :jawdrop:

I just Googled the speed limit on the Dan Ryan Expressway. 45 mph! (That's more than 72 km/h to @Cesar R M and me.)

Are you kidding me? Who the heck would be crazy enough to even want to ride a bike with cars going this fast.

And worse yet, this lady has no helmet!

I think Illinois had Tollroads before I was born. My understanding is when the road was payed for the tolls would be discontinued and become expressways. Never happened. They just build more tollways.

It was 3 tolls down to my DDs University. The last one in a Southern Suburb of Chicago, the rest of the way down it was 4 lane road/highways, no tolls.

I hear ya. I do it under protest.
That being said, my time and aggravation are worth something.

If you figure one hour saved per day, 20 days per month, divided by $500 = $25/hour.

Is my time worth $25/hour? You bet your sweet patootie it is.
Not to mention saving wear and tear on my car, brakes, and tires by not being in stop and go traffic.
Plus, I can claim tolls on my income tax.

None of which makes me hate the 407 corporation any less. Blood suckers!

Yep, and I hear that, too. You have to weigh all aspects of the overall costs and expenditures. :)
Also, fortunately, at this point, it's not even an option in regards to my commute, 'cause no toll roads exist for the 14.9 miles between my driveway and our parking garage.
But, one of the retail jobs I had was out on I-35 (interstate) that I worked at several times a week (along with two other locations). I just left a bit earlier or adjusted myself in regards to traffic at whatever time, and avoided it altogether. I might have been there an hour or two before my shift sometimes to avoid some morning or evening rush hour carp, but, no pain. :)

The Dan Ryan is the expressway I avoid, I would be surprised if the entire expressway is 45 mph, more 55 mph except for downtown, where almost all of them are 45mph especially through the tunnels. The Dan Ryan is such a deadly expressway I go out of my way to avoid it though much of the day it is at a crawl and I only take a train into the city.

Don't forget though - I'm already commuting 2.5 hours/day. On top of a full work day.

Greater Toronto Area (GTA) roads are abysmal.
Can't wait to see what a cluster**** the PanAm Games are next year. Gonna be bru-tal!

Now if I could have worked via this robot with passengers I would have likely survived the industry longer.

A new customer service robot has started roaming around the passenger terminal of Indianapolis International Airport.

The robot was rolled out last week, with a staffer guiding it remotely around the baggage claim area greeting travelers and looking for anyone who needed assistance. The robot looks like a miniature Segway, but with a blue customer service shirt and an interactive iPod on top showing the face of the employee piloting it.

I'm not really sure though how that robot helps customer service...at all. More like a fun way to play with left over money:D

Yep, that would be it. When it was all being debated down here years ago, folks from the north and Midwest who had transplanted down here called the radio shows by the droves to tell us not to fall for it. I was all another friggin' Ponzi scheme on the tax payin' public. Didn't matter anyway, it was gonna' be shoved down our throats whether we wanted it or not. Those tryin' to lay it on us would be gettin' rich from it, and they are. Yes. Don't worry, the tolls will go down after construction 'cause all we'll need funds for after that is maintenance...Bravo Sierra, on top of Bravo Sierra.....

We have an odd one going in right now in IL that nobody wants. It was supposed to lead into the back side of Ohare giving Western access, but that part isn't going to happen or anytime likely in my lifetime but they are still building the tollroad to nowhere. They are condemning a 50mph road that goes through 4 cities and the tollway will raise it 3 stories in the air, some through residential areas, mostly commercial. In the residential area if the residents exit the subdivision and go east on a frontage road, they can wind around to another road. If they need to go west, it will cost minimum $1.80 to leave their house anywhere even locally. Basically they will be forced to drive a 4 mile circle to avoid the new tollway. Yeah, gotta love government.

Yes, you can see if you look carefully where the wo was cut off on the left. There is a lady symbol on the gray bar.
In case you've forgotten - I've had the full surgery, I've been on 3 separate overactive bladder syndrome medications ....
Honey, when I gotta go, I'm not looking at grey bars. (Although yes, I did see it.)
Iris. What a delightful name for such a beautiful little girl.
