This is the first year in awhile we haven't gone to MNSSHP. (due to the cruise) I usually take my daughter for her BD which is 9/28, but we but always would do the major celebrating at WDW. I've been trying to work in some Halloween stuff to celebrate in my area. Boo At The Zoo and seeing The Box Trolls top of the list. :)

Our youngests BD is 9/16. :)

So pretty. I was much better at piano than I was at guitar, try as I might. :(

I could play the cords but the music just wasn't there. Piano I was spot on, go figure. Odd thing is I wanted to play the guitar, never wanted to play the piano. My DD on the other hand was good at both but better at Guitar.

The same thing happened to Main Street USA. I can't believe the wonderful individual shops that have disappeared, simply to be replaced by one ginormous shop extending the whole block. :(

Kinda like Main Street USA going away, replaced by box stores which pretty much is what the mega store in the Studio's and MK-Main Street has become.

Out of curiosity, I looked up the names of all the WDW Main Street USA shops that have closed (for whatever reasons). Some opened up as far back as 1971. (There might be a few missing from the list below, but only in the sense that some stores "morphed" into the newer (mall as I call it . . .) design that is there now.

New Century Clock Shop (closed 1986) - (Elgin watches & clocks)
Greenhouse (closed 1985) - (flowers and other plants)
Hallmark Card Shop (closed 1985) - (cards, stationery, gift wrap, party items)
Tobacconist (closed 1985) - (tobacco products)
Main Street Stationers (closed 1989) - (cards, stationery, accessories)
Main Street bookstore (closed 1995) - (cards, stationery and writing accessories, books)
House of Magic (closed 1995) - (magic books, masks, puzzles, books and gags)
Cup N' Saucer (closed 1986) - (fine china, gifts)
Wonderland of Wax (closed 1981) - (candles)
Holiday Corner (closed 1986) - (Christmas decorations all year round)
Hospitality Home (closed 1992) - (nothing for sale--housed the Walt Disney Store atraction)
Disneyana Collectibles (closed 1998) - (general Disney merchandise)
Market House (closed 2007) - (jams, jellies, old fashioned candies and cigars)
The Main Street Fire Station (closed 2011) - (firemen-related merchandise & Disney souvenirs)

I can understand why 2-5 closed. Given the temperatures of WDW I wonder how the candle shop wares held up during the touring day. I loved the magic shop, though my Dad called it junk and the Fire Station closing just made me sad, still does. I look forward to the Haunted Mansion gift shop.

Both my mother and younger sister play piano and sing. Well.
I started to learn to play piano, but, just always liked the guitar better. :)
