I talked to my DS last night. He said the general speak with Disney as for the negative fan reaction is:

Guests are not happy that nothing is being done with Epcot and attractions need to be update. So we go to update an attraction and they don't like that either. Guests just complain about everything.

Oy. :banghead:

And, therein lies the problem. Disney's definition of an "update" is nothing more than yet another cheap insult to the Parks' original stated intent, for the sake of a quick buck.

they could have updated maelstrom and kept frozen away.
Disney just went the cheap way with the move (aka 2 nails )
remove an attraction that is literally falling apart.. add "princess toony" thing to worldcase based on frozen.
hardly "an addition".
because -1 +1 = net gain of 0.

but anyway.. @donaldtoo 's comment explained it perfectly.
