And serves as a time capsule of a time that Midtown Manhattan was a really sketchy place.

He was awesome for the Jets. Best QB we had since Boomer Esiason and Boomer was on some of the worst Jets teams ever so that barely counts. The elbow injury was awful. That punt he threw was one of the worst passes I have ever seen. Didn't mean to say he was one of the players that couldn't play here. Just meant he didn't seem to like the attention.
It's amazing. Favre made me a Jets fan that year. And when he was with the Vikings I didn't care if they won, except when it was against the Packers. I wouldn't say I was a Vikings fan, but I was definitely cheering for Favre.

His presence gave me hope. I rarely enter a season with hope. I have spent my life watching Jim Kelly, Dan Marino, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady and Drew Bledsoe play against my team, twice a season, in my division. Aside from Favre, the closest people the Jets had to a QB in my lifetime was Chad Pennington - who couldn't throw the ball more than 15 yards (although he was incredible accurate and even more likable as a person) and Vinny Testaverde - who was I think in his 50s when they signed him (I jest - but still). Richard Todd, Kenny O'Brien, Boomer Esiason, Glenn Foley, Mark Sanchez - it's a "Who's Who" of "WHO???!". It's been a rough run. And Geno isn't the answer. Nor Vick. Oy.

Incidentally - the profile on Kelly during Sunday night's game made me weep. He's had a rough run but is such a great guy. Sad.

The Packers have been incredibly lucky with the QBs they've had. Bart Starr, Lynn Dickey, Don Majkowski (would've been better until the injury that brought Favre into the spotlight), Brett Favre, Aaron Rodgers. The 70s and 80s were sad, though, Dickey was the QB, but the rest of the team was awful. I think there were 4 winning seasons in 20 years.

Yeah - growing up the Packers stunk. 49ers and Bears dominated the NFC. I'm hoping at SOME point I'll get to see a great Jets team. Someday...

I feel your pain. I'm a Browns fan and have watched QB after QB rotate through for years without any hope.
