My 1st dog was a Golden and she was a total sweetheart. My current pooch is a Border/lab mix and she seems to have inherited the lab demeanor mostly. She still has the bossiness of the border collie, but she has never been aggressive to any people or dogs.

My first dog was a black and white Springer Spaniel. She was sweet but she left us to Parvo Virus before there was a vaccine. Next Up our Shepard. My first Born, she could hear my Mustang about 5 blocks out. Next up was my Female Golden Retriever, she was the self appointed guardian of my small children. If DD went outside in the yard, she got up and guarded the yard, she treated my DD like she was her Pup and they were only 2 months apart in age. Then came the Lab rescue that found it necessary to bully my kids and my Golden. He went back the next morning. Was done with rescues.

Next up was Jethro Bodine. He was the ultimate companion for my female golden cause she enjoyed bossing him around. Jethro was loyal to me and me only. He and his sister were put up for placement in an emergency situation from their owners. I took Jethro, he was 4 months old. We got stuck on a tollway about an hour from my home after I had just taken him from his owner. There was a bad accident and we bonded as we sat still on the tollway for an hour. He traded a sister for the Women golden, he never looked back. Jethro followed me everywhere I went, room to room or around the house his whole life. My first male dog and my favorite (don't tell Walt)

And then there is Walter. My first Lab I drove to Wisconsin to purchase. He is a character and every-bit as docile as Jethro but has a bit more spit and vinegar in his spirit. My DS was a college freshman when we got him, rarely home, but to Walter DS is his people. DS can be gone 6 months and the Pup is just as attached to him as if he never left. I walk him, play with him, feed him, wash him and I am his Alpha but his soul belongs to my son. Walter believes all humans were placed on Earth for him.

I'm fine with certain big dogs, but if I see a big dog I don't know, I back up five feet.

Walter is a Yellow Lab that is taller and longer than most. He has that big block head and huge chest, paws like a bear. He is a gentle giant. Most of our town folk that actually leave their property know Walter. People know Walter that I don't know (others walk him sometimes.)

But like you there are people who see him coming (leashed) and walk to grass, cross street and frightfully grab their children. I can anticipate the frightful, I'll step off onto a driveway apron for families. I will also tighten up the leash to keep him close to me passing adult is they look fearful. I get that. But the people that amaze me is when they knowingly let their kids run up to Walter in that Charge mode and they don't know Walt. One you don't charge any dog and two how do you know the dog is friendly or likes kids?

If children ask if they can pet Walter I always always respond, you have to ask Mom/Dad first.

I really should be where others are not.
Don't know if it's them, or me, but everyone is driving me NUTS!

I'm having one of those days too.

Some aye hole was laying on his horn for like a solid minute and I screamed out the car window "you, aye hole, shut the eff up!" And then felt SO BAD. It was an elderly guy. I went to grab a quick bite to eat and there was an elderly couple behind me in line. I bought their lunch. I hope it makes up for the awful karma I put out there today. :(

I spent the rest of the day in my yard, planting my tomatoes. Photos later, right now I'm trying to get dinner together.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.

Me, I want to smack somebody.

Well, not just anybody. One person in particular.

Maybe some Five Guys will improve my attitude.

I just got the wedding invitation for my niece and they are having an East Indian wedding and have invited family to dress in East Indian wardrobe. :bookworm: I've spent most of the morning trying to research this. Sooo many beautiful oufits I've seen online but no where close to buy them. I guess I'm gonna have to get crafty. Anybody have any experience with East Indian stuff?

Ht up your local thrift store before embarking on any sewing projects...you may get lucky :) otherwise, fabric stores have beautiful patterned fabrics for a pretty wrap.

That's an awesome idea for a wedding...are either Indian, or do they just like the culture?
