So...my knee is shot, I think. It's been hurting for a few weeks now but it's to the point that bending it hurts...bad. And keeping my leg stretched out also hurts. Bending knee to put sock on feels like the muscles aren't cooperating and it's tough...this is totally new for me, I've never had knee issues. I'm trying not to freak out over it, but my god does it hurt tonight. I stood around a lot at the party then sat for a while, now I'm home with legs stretched out on the couch.

:( I hope I'm not the first 30 year old to need a knee replacement.
30? That's too young for traditional "old people joint problems".

An old injury perhaps?
Twist it wrong in your sleep that you're not aware of?

Hope it feels better soon.

In the meantime, remember RICE
Rest
Ice
Compression
Elevation

An NSAID or two probably wouldn't hurt either.

True, but it's not too old for a little arthritis. Advil and ice should help, and if it doesn't get better within a week or so, go to a doctor.

EDIT: Young, I meant young. I could blame the fact that my ankle hurts like the dickens, but instead, I'll just blame Meg.

Definitely rest it. Hopefully it's just tweaked. Knees can take a while to heal so give it what it needs!

I'm still trying to get out of Mexico. Or I'm at a birthday party. Whichever is more believable.

You probably went with the trapped in Mexico option I'm guessing.

Oops - brought your passport to Canada. I may be a while...

So... we've been up since 4. It's going to be a long day!

So good afternoon then?

I hope for your sake it isn't as bad as you think!

Have experienced significant joint pain in my knees for the past 10 years (since I was just a little past 30), I understand your pain.

Based on your comments it sounds like a muscular concern rather than a joint issue. Both of my parents have had both of their knees replaced and I am looking forward to that future (I blame running 3+ miles a day in high school and 30+ years of playing and coaching soccer). As @JenniferS mentioned, RICE is extremely helpful for muscle issues. Muscular pain is also helped by Ibuprofen (not ideal, but up to 800mg 3x a day is not unreasonable) and muscle relaxers (see your doctor for that). If it is in fact the knee joint, the pain is pretty much all the time and is usually impacted by fun things like the weather. One of my favorite parts of my knees is that if I sit on the floor for more than about 8 seconds, the impending 5 minutes of immobility and excruciating pain is just not worth it. (thus all board games in our house happen at tables!).

Best advice I can give - see your doctor!! If needed get them to refer you to an orthopedist or physical therapist to get things resolved. If they think there is a structural or joint issue you'll get to enjoy an MRI. Woo-hoo!

Good luck and hope things clear up without too much additional pain!

Thanks everyone! For now, I'm loading up on aspirin and icing it. It was bothering me again last night, but apparently not enough to stop me from dreaming of being at Disneyland. I didn't wanna wake up.

And now I get to go grocery shopping! The dream of being stuck on a morbid version of the haunted mansion was much better than this.

Super bifocals?
Anybody wear those new transition lenses? Are they that different than bifocals?

Now that I have to wear my glasses for most everything at work, I am taking them off every time I have to write something. On/off, 50, 60 times a day is probably going to put undue stress on the frame.
