I'm still the biggest fan of POR, this coming off a trip to POFQ

I wish they would just knock down the GSH at Poly and Duplicate it, they could even expand its footprint to include the extras they want in there. The new construction would solve all their maintenance issues along with space issues and if they duplicated the theming, build a similar fountain/waterfall it would be more palatable to all. Disney has gotten their money's worth out of that building and DVC investors deserve more that a redecorated, reworked main building that has outlived its usefulness. I say bite the bullet and do it right.

But this type of furniture alignment doesn't scream Deluxe Resort, it goes against every form of decorating. Disney is trying to fit in amenities that just don't physically work.

That mirror, flat screen, mirror decor bugs me.

Wow so is disney transport slow?

Imho, the slowest part will always be loading and unloading people with scooters.
they take in the minimum 5 minutes to set up the ramp, get the person in.. lock him and secure him then up the ramp.
If all people are walking, It is very fast.

Please note that this is my experience when I was there for 7 days at Port Orleans RIVERSIDE between September-October timeframe.

Also depends on the resort, PORiverside for example.. shares the same BUS system loop as the FRENCH QUARTER.
so French Quater always unloads and gets people in first.. then Riverside.

It of course.. depends on the season you get there.
The days we selected.. they were low seasons.. so everything was sort of quiet.

Rental cars are cheap in Florida.
I consistently pay less than $200 for 10 days.

I end up saving a big chunk of that just in bottled water savings alone.
It's nice being able to go five minutes off site to Publix and Walgreens.

Last year, our alarm didn't go off (maybe because some dummy set it for pm instead of am), and we had 25 minutes to get dressed, out the door, and over to Boardwalk for an 8:30 ADR @ Cape May Cafe.
We never would have made it using Disney transportation.
The only breakfast I ever went to at another resort was Kona and that was a rather simple transfer.

In general I schedule meals at other resorts for dinner on DHS or AK days when I'm usually done long before the reservation is for.

Plus I'm looking at Swan for next time which charges for parking. It depends how they factor in with the Magic Bands and FP+ that gives me a headache every time I research it. I get halfway through and just go, "This is stupid." then come back to this thraed.

Every time I've stayed at POR (5 or so times), there has been no shared bus system between POR and POFQ. Maybe it's just during the off-season they share it.

The Deluxe rooms for some reason always look like they are missing something. Something that makes me not want to pay what they cost (if I could). I just can't put my finger on it.

I do know what the Contemporary needs though: Smart rooms. Both times work put me in the Aria Resort in Vegas I thought, "This room is what the Contemporary should have."

And, Half-day Friday turned into Half-day Friday plus..come-directly-home-and-replace-a-toilet-float-and-vlave Friday...! :joyfull: :)

Thought for sure I'd be about 15-ish pages behind by now, but, looks like it didn't get too crazy.
Time to go back and try to "ketchup" before things, potentially, get out of hand...!!! :D ;) :)

I stopped visiting that thread when I saw the concept drawing of the lobby. People are upset, I don't blame them, that resort holds a great deal of sentiment. But Disney doesn't really care what fans object to. When it is complete there will be media all over the place saying just what Disney wants to hear, it is beautiful, amazing blah blah blah. Much like the other day for the Mine Train. The resort will continue to book both fans and new to WDW guests. Fan boycotts won't change the profit margin, it is a monorail resort.

Yea, this TDO move just blows my mind. WTH?!?!?! DEFINITELY not what would be considered thematic plussing.
Darn glad we got some great family pics of us in front of the water feature when we were there for our 'Ohana ADR last June.

Exactly. There is no need to wedge a couch up against a Entertainment/Dresser combo without end table or coffee table and then slam a desk up against the entertainment center. The Poly and the Contemporary rooms have the gift of square footage. Disney could easily furnish these rooms properly and follow something that reflects proper interior design that is functional.

I stayed in the lodge portion of AKL, with a pool view. It was nice but had less usable space than POR. They lost usable in the little entrance hallway with the closet. The bathroom area was tighter than POR especially for those with families vying for sink time and changing clothes space. The choice of bed frame is a nightmare as it begs guest to trip on the legs at the foot of the bed. Many guests have taken some nasty falls tripp'n on those. I always seem to float back to POR or FQ but still find POR to be the best offering for the $$.
