I was way behind (stupid work), so I assumed we were using BBT as our avatars. Found the caricature I ended up posting.
Read a few more posts, and discovered that we were going with our favourite t.v. character.
Love, love, love Spenser For Hire.

So ... I shared the caricature, and went with Robert Urich as Spenser for my avatar.

Those are actual animatronics.

You know, I'm really sick over this Polynesian lobby "defurbishing" as Spike-in-Berlin so pointedly called it. But again, this time last year was my first day of waking up at the Poly, enjoying the resort, the lobby, the iced coffee at Kona Island, and making it over to MK well after when I had intended to be there. I had the alarm set so we would get up, get showered, fed, and at the MK for EMH that morning and we didn't make it to the MK until almost 10 because we were enjoying the resort so much. I took easily 100 photos of it that morning alone.

:(

Poly was always our dream resort.
I am too frugal to spend 10 days there, but we always talked about a 3 day/7 day split resort stay.

Not sure it's worth it now.

I think maybe we'll just continue doing what we do. Brekkie (or two) at Kona, walk around, lay in a hammock. Dinner at 'Ohana, followed by fireworks on the beach.

I don't need to spend upwards of $400/night to continue to do this.

It would be funny if someone actually took an crypt with epitaph "Here lies the Beloved Poly.. now mangled beyond repair" to the resort, and plant it somewhere in the entrance.

Same with us. We never stayed there but it was my first choice of resorts if a giant pile of money ever fell in my lap. We went to breakfast at Kona once and 'Ohana once. Dinner at 'Ohana twice and Spirit of Aloha once. And stopped on the way from MK to Epcot a few times for my son to get his pinball fix. It sounds like the arcade is going away permanently as part of the defurbishment.

Yeah, no more arcade.

Jennifer that's a fine idea. I can always swing by for breakfast or dinner and enjoy parts of the beach- the parts that aren't now blocked due to the bungalows... but I doubt I'll ever shell out the money to stay there again.

Just curious, but what are your "home" resorts when yall go to WDW? I'm considering Port Orleans for my next trip.

I just got back from riding in a car with my brother driving... I haven't done that in a while. It's amazing he hasn't gotten a speeding ticket yet. He was going 40 in a 25 and 35 in a school zone. He yields at stop signs and stops at yield signs. He turns at higher than normal speeds, and he doesn't leave a lot of room between him and the car in front of him before he starts to brake. All of this happened in a 5 minute time frame. I was bracing myself pretty much the entire time. *exhales*

POP - always POP.

Some years for financial reasons; some years because I am footing the bill for extra people; but most years because I'm cheap.

Once the kids got bigger, we were on the go 9:00 a.m. til midnight. Our non-park days involved a trip to Clearwater Beach or shopping at the Florida Mall. Seemed silly to spend extra money for a room we only slept in. We always have a rental car, and resort hop for dining.
We also like to relax on the Disney boats, and travel to WL from MK, or the Port Orleans resorts from DTD.

In 2011, Hubby and I were booked to stay at POR, but sadly, my mom who lived with us, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly a week before our departure. Clearly, we didn't go.

Since then, I've stayed at POP twice. Always POP.

It used to be POR for a while. Then AS Sports to save money for a few years. I went back to AS Sports for my 1st trip back as an adult with a job and stayed in a relative's timeshare offsite last year. Last year I didn't plan to go along until the last minute so I just stayed with them. I realized I prefer on-site with my own room.

Stayed in POFQ and CBR one time each also.

Next time I want to stay in a mod (POR or CSR) again or Swan/Dolphin. Whenever the next trip is. Right now I want to just plan something to make up for the Yellowstone trip with friends from college falling apart. I want to try somewhere new and not romantic because my gf is using the rest of her time off for the girls version of the college reunion trip that didn't fall apart.
