Well is it a good thing or bad that Bay Tower has the same exact tub as I have in my master bath?

"welcome home"

@PUSH is going to have a fun surprise when he wakes up.

a good surprise hopefully, the confusion will be hilarious! XD

I would say a good thing. It's better than mine, where the hot water tap is currently broken.
Oy. I actually had to text the DH yesterday and tell hi the facet wouldn't completely shut off yesterday, which resulted in me hunting down a cartridge number for him to get from the ever dangerous Home Depot. They seem to have the life expectancy of 2-3 years. I really like the tub but wish I had a maid to clean it. Lots of grooves to scrub. Sometimes I cheat and fill the tub pour in a jug of bleach and turn the tub on. Wonder if that is what Mousekeeping does?

All of my folks bathrooms have the same facets. No cartridges, no problems ever, been in that house since 1969.

Evidently Meg has been busy in Baltimore County, MD where I would like to blame her for some terrible decision making by the public school system, resulting in this 20 year veteran (who has built one school's music program from 1 instrumental teacher with 100 kids and no piano program to 2 instrumental teachers with over 200 kids and 90 kids in the piano program) to consider looking elsewhere.

Up until this point, I have avoided blaming Meg for things beyond her usual scope, but this kind of inept management seems right up her alley.

It is Baltimore!

Heck, it's Maryland. If I could move my daughter out of that crazy state, with respect to her education, I would in a heartbeat. It can't decide if it's rural or metropolitan. It can't decide if it's northeastern or southern (and I use those terms loosely and not politically). Not to mention the identity crisis that is the whole southern part of the state (same issue Virginia has with Northern Virginia) where the standard of living and incomes are grossly out of touch with the rest of the state due to federal job influx.

Help please. How do you get Jalapeno pepper off your fingertips. I don't normally cook with these, such an amateur I am. Have learned if I touch my eye area, it is nasty stuff.

Warning: Mini-rant ahead!

I've been sitting here for about an hour trying to start a rough draft for a research paper, but I have no idea where to go. We are supposed to be forming a research question based off of research we did on this region of the world. Well, I researched my family history and have absolutely zero ideas of what to write about. My professor is no help either. Whenever you ask her a question she starts to answer it and then trails off into nowhere. She usually leaves you more confused than you were. I asked her about my topic, and she said it was too broad and I'd have to narrow it down. Then she started going off on some idea, but there's absolutely no sources to research further into it. Between sources, her open-ended instructions, and the confusion of her class, I'm getting to the point that I'm just going to BS (not Bob Saget) the entire thing.

Rant over.
I'm 30 some odd credits from graduation, and probably should go back and finish it up. I can't tell you how many classes I BS'd my way through due to poor classroom direction.

I can say it was never any of the engineering/math related courses! However, social sciences? Heh...I spent more time figuring out what the teacher wanted to hear and regurgitating that version to them to support their own confirmation bias (and grant me a placing grade) than I did actually learning anything from the content they provided. Specifically 100 and 200 level history courses...

Scrub your hands with white vinegar, if you have it, and then wash with soap and water.

You could also dip your hands in bleach and or spray them with a bleach cleaner.

Hmmm....Maryland scored the best of 50 states for educating our youth. Virginia is 4th. I'd be jones'g for those scores in Illinois.

Within state (union contract or not, that was my mistake), tenure is generally transferable.

Where? Not here. They are district contracts not state contracts. Each school district sets their own contracts and each new hire starts from year 1 hire and isn't tenured until the first day of their 4th year. Transfer districts you start at year 1 again.

Their pay scale does transfer though for years of service.

Sorry for the delay responding - had to get to bed early last night to Polar Bear Plunge today.

Giving up tenure is very risky. Promises were made and broken by our administration. "Improve student enrollment in music classes to a point where we have to hire a chorus instructor." I got 80+ kids to sign up for chorus. We had an overall increase in music enrollment of 40%, 380 kids to 530 kids. Those numbers would dictate that we would move from 3 teachers to at least 3.5 teachers. Nope. And as a result of not increasing staff, we have to cut other programs (can't cut the chorus because 80 kids signed up) and combine other classes - my favorite part of this is the class of 37 drummers that the administration proposes. This is just the latest in 8 years of a similar approach (across two administrations, the last one of which was sued by the Music Boosters over another issue). A person can only be treated unprofessionally and with total disrespect for their work for so long. There are other schools out there. Hopefully I can find one with integrity.
Good luck. I am sad to see a music program die, but they often do (outside of band, which is propped up generally by football programs).

The politicians who actually fund and run the schools are not known for their ability to have either foresight or frankly even be good people. This includes people on the Board of Educations (not a jab at @Gabe1, not in the slightest, she is quite forthright, I am convinced, but she is in a minority).

See, here's how it works. BoE is where you do one of three things in politics. You build your own little empire based on "pick your promise"...you are being tested for higher office (as it's an "under the radar" election, so if you make a fool of yourself, the local party can cut you out quickly without much embarrassment), or you truly care. The latter is the vast minority of most BoE's, around the country.

DH went through a similar dilemma several years ago, and as a result he ended up switching school districts. It was scary for sure, although good math teachers are pretty much in demand, so we knew he'd get another job. He actually did, right in our hometown - no more 45 minute commute - and within a couple of years he was promoted to department chairman. Good luck with whatever you decide - follow your heart!
All due respect, but tenure shouldn't exist. You produce, or you don't produce.

That being said...I have been a teacher, and I get how politics can impact and limit good teachers, and they need something like tenure to defend their positions and contributions (excellent, on average) to society.
