Wow, I can empathize with your situation. It's kinda like (many?) car salesmen are trained to not listen to the customer, display selective vision, and are also stuck in some sort of sexist, or age-related, time-warp.
Sixteen years ago, hubby and I went shopping for a new car. At that time, I had the money to pay for it in full. So, I wrote a check for over $14,000 and handed it to the car salesman. When all the paperwork was finished, we headed for the door to leave, and the salesman runs over to hubby, shakes his hand, and said thank you. Really??!! We had made it clear that it was my purchase, my name (only) was on the check I had just written out and given to him—and he completely ignored me?!
Years later, we still laugh about this.
