This is a great post with lots of good input and opinions. I have a lot to respond to so please forgive me in advance if this gets lengthy.
Harry Potter/Seaworld vs. Disney
I believe that DCA is getting most of Disney’s park money right now and I think WDW is lucky to be getting as many small updates as it is while that happens (Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Spaceship Earth, Space Mountain, Mexico, Seas, Laugh Floor) plus bigger rides like Soarin’, Everest, and Toy Story Mania have all opened in the last 3 years. It’s true that TSM and Idol do not compare to Universal or Seaworld’s upcoming attractions right now but I’m sure Disney is probably holding out their big news until Harry Potter opens to compete at the right time.
What's next for Disney?
I do think it’s time for Disney to announce something really big, like Everest was. Perhaps Fire Mountain, Mt Fuji, Journey into the Center of Earth, or even Little Mermaid. I would love a big budget show stopping dark ride like Little Mermaid, Muppets, Nightmare Before Christmas, or the old Marry Poppins ride to open. I never want the parks to be all thrill rides or else it would feel like Six Flags, where all the rides between the thrill rides are not worth seeing. It’s the other attractions too that are needed to complete the parks in and around the thrill rides.
E-Ticket
As for E-tickets as of late, Everest was good, but not good enough (it needed more show scenes and to entertain us longer). And Soarin’, Mission Space, and TSM might be E-tickets, but they do not hold a candle to the scope of Horizons, Great Movie Ride, or Splash Mountain…etc. Disney unfortunately knows that people associate E-ticket with thrills these days, that’s why little mermaid at DCA isn’t getting that label…but I think it is definitely an E-ticket. Cars at DCA is getting that label because it has the thrill element, like Soarin’ did. It’s too bad that the term E-ticket has evolved that way to be honest because these days it would leave huge rides like The Great Movie Ride completely out of E-ticket status, which is ridiculous.
Video Screens
I’ve said this before in other threads but I’m tired of screen-based rides. I think they should only be used in moderation and used to enhance an attraction, not be the attraction. I especially do not believe screens are enough to completely replace the need for physical elements. The descent in Spaceship Earth literally kills me.
Magic Kingdom
Lastly in response the Magic Kingdom being “stale”; Magic Kingdom is the most visited park because it’s the best, not stale, the best. It is home to the most classic and timeless attractions, and obviously many people see that and appreciate that. I know me and my family do.
