What's with the wait times!? (hint.. they're low)

Had one day to do Disneyland yesterday and it was certainly a busy day but not unmanageable.
Did fastpass for everything except Indy (which we did at rope drop). Fantastyland dark rides were a walk on in the morning.
Longest we waited all day was around 30 mins for Nemo subs and Pirates, and 50 minutes for Peter Pan.
Single rider for Smugglers Run took 10 mins first time and walked on second time (can’t say I rated the ride to highly to be honest)

Fun day, 31 rides so we did well considering the crowds.

Today seems crazy. Smugglers is longest wait at Disneyland right now, at 150 minutes.

Stopped selling tickets to Disneyland.

Grizzly River and Little Mermaid are at 50 minutes at DCA. RSR 180.

>>Disneyland is currently at capacity, Disney officials said. 'Visiting the Disneyland Resort during the holidays is a tradition for many people and on high demand days like today, we do all we can to welcome as many guests as possible,' Disneyland officials said in a statement.<<

I'm at the resort right now. It's insane. The line for security stretched down to Harbor.
Knott's is just as bad.

It's that time of year....

As a Anaheim Resident, I truly love this time of year, as my tax bill is kept low courtesy to all the wonderful out of town visitors enjoying our city, buying things, eating things, and paying TOT taxes for staying in our hotels.

Thank you so much for visiting our fine city and enjoying our hospitality.

I personally don’t understand why people go during this time of the year. I went once just to pick up a gift...Never again.

I had the Premium AP for a couple years and never stepped foot in there during this time. One time however, like the novice I was, I went on the last day of the holidays thinking people would be over Christmas on January 6th or whatever it was. Nope, it was the opposite and one of the worst days ever. Everybody and their mom was there to get one more taste of the Christmas season at Disneyland for the year.

It’s the worst. I think many of us can attest to your experience and thought crowds wouldn’t be bad right before or right after Christmas... And the. We go and we’re hit with wall-to-wall human traffic.

It was so bad when I went that guests were sent backstage.

Truly shameful that the parks do not better limit the attendance when it is clearly both a terrible guest experience and a safety hazard. Unfortunately, it will take a stampede on Main Street with people seriously injured before they address it.

Why did they go backstage for?

Because there was no walking room on Main Street.
Where they allowed back there or did they wonder back there by accident is really what I meant to ask? Like they had permission to go there and if so why? was it for extended line queue or to try to get to another land quicker? i am just curious about the reasoning or facts of why it happened.

Cast members directed guests to maneuver through the park by means of using backstage. Guests were forced to walk backstage because the park was too crowded. It was the only way to keep guest flow occurring without huge traffic jams, even though the guest flow backstage at one point was way too crowded.

I recall visiting the park about 15 years ago, before they built a little corridor in for guests, being directed between Space and Main Street when the park was slammed. As a kid, seeing backstage Disneyland was incredibly exciting.

Where were they directing people when you went?

Oh, the guests enjoyed it. It was weird for me because I was a previous CM and we were always told that guests were never allowed backstage.

Right when we entered, we had to go backstage, so we started at the entrance from City Hall. We walked from there until we hit Jungle Cruise and were allowed to go back onstage.
