What's with the wait times!? (hint.. they're low)

Oh, the guests enjoyed it. It was weird for me because I was a previous CM and we were always told that guests were never allowed backstage.

Right when we entered, we had to go backstage, so we started at the entrance from City Hall. We walked from there until we hit Jungle Cruise and were allowed to go back onstage.

They open that route up daily now, and have done a decent job hiding the backside of buildings and dressing it up with attraction posters. Still seems cheap and rushed, but better then what I imagine the rest of backstage Disneyland looks like.

One time, a CM was standing in front of the jungle cruise boat storage and yelling that we weren't allowed to take photos back there. Was really weird- haven't been told we couldn't any of the other times I've walked through there during the parade or fireworks. I get that it's a backstage area, but when you're literally funneling thousands of guests through I imagine backstage 'no photo rules' are really tough to enforce.

I do wish they went through (what I think were) their original plans for the overflow corridor to be more elaborately themed, but I’m not complaining that it exists now. That’s a shame re: Jungle Cruise docks. I only saw them recently on a visit and thought it was super cool as a peek into how the park operated.

Imagine trying to keep all the guests from sitting on the fake furniture and taking photos at the end of Pinocchio as you're trying to evacuate folks.

Impossible.

But streets packed so much that the overflow entrance is needed is even less magical.
This is one thing I've never fully understood. Isn't the whole point of having fire marshall-enforced capacity limits to not have a situation where crowds become too encumbering?

If, god forbid, there ever is a real emergency on Main Street that requires rapid evacuation, I certainly hope it doesn't come on a full capacity day. I can't imagine it would go well, even with the backstage lanes open.

It was already decided though that GE is a failure. A few vocal critics on Social Media and message boards declared it so. No evidence to the contrary is allowed. Their fragile egos can't accept it.
And a couple hours later the line has dropped in half - so using your curious reasoning the ride got half as popular? Oh, and now the wait is below Hyperspace Mountain so....

Good lord, the desperate attempt to disprove the obvious to defend Disney on these boards is sadly comical.

You’re just as much a culprit in the opposite direction, let’s not be a hypocrite. Perhaps everyone could find the middle ground instead?

Regardless, still one of the highest waits between both parks.

It's got a far higher wait in relation to other attractions than it typically does. I wonder if that's influenced by tourists visiting Disneyland for Christmas/New Years, who haven't yet been on the attraction? The demographic change would certainly correlate with the AP blockouts and CM blockouts that are present right now.

I mean. In the end it doesn’t matter why or what. The rides busy, point blank.

Relax, it was a joke. An obvious one at that. You were my first choice as someone who would respond in like fashion though. So... congrats? Anything that resembles even a remotely positive view of Disney really sets you off. What's comical is the desperate attempt by some to do nothing but irrationally hate Disney at every turn.

If you knew me at all, you would know that I am anything but a Disney defender. I happen to enjoy GE and believe the reaction is overblown. IMO I have the oh so controversial take that GE has plenty of positives and plenty of negatives. My original review of the land reflected that. I have chosen to highlight the positives because the DL forum reaction has been overly negative to the point of being toxic. I should probably stop discussing the topic of GE because anything I write that has even the tiniest bit of positivity is jumped all over by people like yourself with absolute nonsense.

I am open to nuanced conversation and have enjoyed it with many on here. However, I believe that a couple select individuals have turned this into a toxic forum to have those discussions that can be both positive and negative about a given topic.

As to the topic at hand, yes it is obvious that GE is not doing the business that they expected. My hope is that Disney learns from this and applies it to future additions. Rise will help draw more people into the land. One of the issues is that GE has very little to do that does not cost extra to participate in. It is the first true upcharge land. This has resulted in people not spending as much time in the land as they usually would if there were more "free" activities.

Ah yes, the coveted “high road” post after the apparently instantly forgotten unsolicited antagonistic personal attack post (see “fragile egos” snark above). Always a popular move.

Sorry, thought it'd be fun to analyze and discuss possibilities why the ride's popularity is higher than it typically is these last few days, beyond simply 'the park is crowded'. Not denying that the ride is busy.
Trying to extrapolate anything meaningful on a far extreme outlier attendance day with Mr. Toad at 40 minutes, 70 for Roger Rabbit, 140 for Matterhorn (where does that line even end?!), and even 75 minutes to Meet Mickey is difficult at best.

People are just looking to get out of the mass of humanity into any queue they can.
