Update:
August is now the company's internal target for reopening the domestic parks. Planning is underway for a televised, Disney + fireworks show for Independence Day, but would be without any significant physical audience, would involve closed roads, and would need permission from Florida. Epcot is still not planned to reopen with the rest of the parks and would lag by perhaps a month or so. Mandatory temperature checks would occur at each gate and resort entrance. Unlikely at this time that all resorts may open simultaneously - a plan internally titled Secure Circuit would see only MK resorts open with monorail service to MK and bus service to AK / DHS. This is the highest level health screening plan to attempt reopening with Florida and US government assistance. It would be temporary but could get things opened once more. No plans to reopen the water parks this summer. Temporarily expect to see directional arrows on the ground to direct foot traffic so that social distancing is easier. Dining modifications are still underway in the planning stage with tiered systems for gradually returning to normal when possible. Expect domestic parks to operate as regional entities rather than international destinations for the next year or so.
Honey I'm not going to go through 67 pages of a message board with a fine-tooth comb lol. I know it's a quarantine and I'm sure there's a lot of boredom going on for you, but some of us still manage to have a real life and don't want to dedicate hours of every day to an internet forum. I was simply stating what I read on the shopDisney site. And "just so you know," I work in marketing/advertising and yes, marketing is absolutely a credible source. We don't just make information up - we're given information to work around. That information can change at any time and you adapt to that, which is the case here. Behind every single post is multiple planning meetings, collaborating meetings, and creative meetings (which would definitely include the copy for a product on an ecommerce site). That's discrediting an entire field to say that they're "out of the loop." It sounds like they were planning to open the Moana fountains next year. Nobody knows what plans are now except for the inside team. This is all speculation. And I'll say it again but this is essentially a waterfall and jumping fountains - it's not a high budget project. That mixed with the shopDisney copy leads to speculation that they're moving forward with it and could potentially execute it earlier than later.
Not questioning you as this scenario has as much logic as any and you seem to have a sense of things.
My one question is around the opening of the resorts. I think it would be very poorly received by the DVC community if Disney opened any cash rooms while DVC resorts were closed. Cash guests can always get refunds for closed resorts. DVC members lose their points (not always, but the longer the resorts are closed, the more likely points are lost). Each month the resorts are closed is a month sliced off our contracts and our use years that aren't coming back. I can definitely see a slow roll out, but I think preventing Beach Club owners or AKV owners, SSR OKW, etc.) from booking/staying at their resorts while PVB, BLT, and VGF owners can will create huge problems. Particularly since our dues are paying for those resorts and their staff while we can't stay there but cash guests get in.
Disney will need a plan to address that.
They don’t. Nor do they always get it right. Even official ones.but they didn't just throw out random dates.
As someone who worked extensively in both the printing and sign industries, you'd be shocked at what little we are sometimes provided with and expected to make look top notch...and that goes for information as well as corporate logos, etc., from both small and large companies. They don’t. Ever see the Orlando commercials using Anaheim’s Space Mountain? As an example.
Believe it or not, I for one am not shocked. As someone who worked extensively in both the printing and sign industries, you'd be shocked at what little we are sometimes provided with and expected to make look top notch...and that goes for information as well as corporate logos, etc., from both small and large companies.
I totally believe you, lol. It was probably the most frustrating aspect of both businesses.Believe it or not, I for one am not shocked.
I'll take a guess and say it was before D23? If so, we may have the same "friend".It turned out to be routine costume maintenance, but happened at a time that had me looking into a Journey announcement. Martin was able to get info on the "friend" of Dreamfinder, which allowed me to know there would be no public performance.

Everything you said sounds like a realistic scenario but I'm going to guess things are fluid and it's only one current scenario.
If the plan was final or even close to final, I'd expect to see booking changes asap.
After all, Disney is currently telling March-May visitor, "book for June-September and get free dining!"
So assuming this scenario is true, all of the following will happen to growing frustration:
1-- You're re-booked June/July trip is cancelled again. (I really wouldn't be surprised by this one)
2-- Even if you booked in August, if you booked at a non Magic Kingdom resort, your trip is cancelled. If you booked any value resort or any mod resort, your trip is cancelled. The only people who can keep their trips, are those booked at Monorail deluxe resorts.
3--For those of you who did book for August/September... took advantage of free dining! But you know all those TS reservations you made at Les Cellier? and Yachtsman Steakhouse? and jiko? Well, those are all closed. And the dining venues open have lots of restrictions.... so good luck using your free dining credits...
Again, I'm not doubting the WDWPro's credibility, I just doubt this is close to a solid decision. And if it is pretty solid, then I expect Disney to change their reservation system very very soon. Like within the next 10 days. They can't just keep pushing back the opening by 2 weeks, and pretending it will be a normal re-opening.
One footnote -- To keep things "secure".... the Epcot area resorts make more sense than the monorail resorts. The Epcot area resorts give access to 2 parks without the need for transportation. Far easier to keep social distancing when walking from a resort to Epcot/DHS than it is to hop on a bus/monorail.
I just can't see only four Deluxe resorts worth of guests being enough to sustain three theme parks worth of operation. They will lose more money than they are bringing in.
I don’t think it would stay that way for long. More just a starting place to resume operations and get the kinks out while slowly bringing more areas on line. Sure they would lose money at first but not as much as they have been losing the last 4 weeks.I just can't see only four Deluxe resorts worth of guests being enough to sustain three theme parks worth of operation. They will lose more money than they are bringing in.
I also don't think that plan makes sense, but they are surely losing more money with nobody in the Parks or the hotels.
