Trip Report What's going on with my clothes??

The title.

It's what I've been having the hardest time with for the last week or so. I'm not totally sold on it but I must say that it did make for a lot of laughs(at my expense of course). When I think about how much energy I've channeled to coming up with something, especially when that energy could have been put to better use( like at work or something), I decided to stick with this & move forward. Otherwise, this TR would never get started. Anyways, welcome to my very first trip report!! I'm happy with myself for finally doing one & I'm more than excited to relive our adventures & share them with you fine people!!
So, let me start by getting the introductions out of the way......

WHO: R & myself, my sister E & her son J, my sister C & her husband D & their daughters E & A

WHEN: June 18th-25th *C,D,E & A's plans were a little different than ours. They were there 6/21-7/7*

WHERE: my home away from home, POR

Here's the crew: myself, R, D, C, E(niece), E(sister), J & A

Love your trip report! Riverside is our favorite too. We've stayed there for 4 of our trips. We were at CSR in March because of a fantastic rate and it was fine - but it wasn't our Riverside. I'm hoping to be able to stay at Riverside again next year. Fingers crossed! It just doesn't seem like we're at Disney if we aren't at POR LOL.

You had an assigned table at the dessert party? They must have made that change after I went to the party. We got stuck at a standing table (which isn't very convenient with a then 21 month old).
All the tables were assigned. It worked out quite well.
After walking around all day the last thing I would want to do is stand(esp. with a 21 month old). I actually don't remember seeing anyone standing at any tables.

Thank you very much!! I'm glad you're enjoying it!!

I know exactly what you mean. It feels like something is missing if I'm not there. The few times I haven't stayed there I always made sure I got there at some point just to walk around. I'm trying not to be the "park commando" that I once was & spend more time at the resort. But, no matter how much time I spend there I feel like it's never enough.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!!

Love the title and you’re doing a great job on your first TR! The Star Wars dessert party looks like a lot of fun. I’ve never done any of the dessert parties, but may try one in the future because I don’t want to use a FP for fireworks and also refuse to stake out a spot 2 hours ahead of time. Now that the projections are such an integral part of the show I am coming to the realization that a good viewing location is more essential than it used to be. I am barely 5 feet tall so I had a hard time seeing the projections at both MK & DHS. Looking forward to the rest of your TR.

So cool that you got Darth Vader mugs at the dessert party, we got Phasma. My husband was pretty excited about the Phasma mug though.
I’m glad we got Darth Vader b/c at least J has a souvenir of him. He kept saying that he wanted to meet Darth Vader but how do you tell a three year old that he doesn’t meet there? Later in the trip we met Chewie, BB8 & Kyle Ren(again) so I think it’s hard for him to understand why we can’t meet him too.
I had thought I heard that you get a Phasma mug so I was quite surprised that it was Darth Vader!!

Thank you so much for all the encouragement!! I was nervous about doing this but I’m having so much fun with it!! I also have to give credit where it’s due(@Tuvalu). Had I not seen her(even though I didn’t say a word that day) & @TrolleyFollower91 for the first time I probably wouldn’t be posting!

The dessert party was fun & I’m glad we did it. You sound just like me—I won’t stake out a spot ahead of time. I’m only 5’ 2” so I’m not much taller than you but I won’t wait forever to get a good spot either.

I hope you enjoy the rest of my TR & I’m looking forward to yours(I believe you were just there)!!

I’m late with no excuse - sorry

I am loving the POR pictures but that wasn’t ever in doubt - I LOVE that place too! We could, I am sure live there as neighbours? I can’t wait to get back there!

Thank goodness no child has ever been sick like that with Chris around - the drama last year from a child sneezing on him was enough for me to contend with.

And you don’t like ice cream?! Noooooooooo.

Loving your report - the title is always the worst thing to think of - keep up the good work!

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 20TH

I guess I must have had the force still with me b/c when I woke it was 8:00. Wow--so unlike me esp. in Disney World. I usually don't need an alarm when I'm there. Because of my late start I didn't have time for my walk/run around POR. I was pretty bummed about that. Even though I don't have photos I know we stopped at The Riverside Mill for J's Mickey waffles & R's banana & apples. We got off the bus around 9:30 then we parted ways. Every time E goes to Disney she gets her hair cut at Ivy Trellis at the Grand Floridian. She headed there while R, J & I headed into MK.

We got to enjoy this fine show when we first walked in.
IMG_2799.jpg

IMG_2800.jpg

We headed towards Adventureland & J wanted to ride The Magic Carpets of Aladdin. R gave in & went on a spinning ride again.
IMG_2802.jpg

I don't know what it is about Adventureland but it's probably my favorite area in the MK!!
IMG_2803.jpg

IMG_2805.jpg

Only 4 minutes until the next show. Why not?? Actually, J loves this attraction.

A few years ago one of my other nephews experienced this attraction for the first time. C was 4 at the time. The show starts & he loudly proclaims, "This is stupid, birds & flowers don't sing". A bit later in the show( I can't remember at exactly which part) he yells out, "Oh no. Not them again!!" Everybody in the theater was cracking up. To this day every time I'm at this attraction I send my SIL a video clip & ask her to tell my nephew that I'm thinking of him. It drives him crazy!!

Thanks for joining in!!

Neighbors!! That is a great idea!! I'm ready when you are!!

I'd be pretty grossed out if someone sneezed on me also. Now that you bring that up I remember reading about that in your TR.

It's not that I hate ice cream but I can definitely live without it. I pass on it more often than not. It's not something I every buy. Now R on the other hand.....

Thank you so much!! That title was rough!!

Loving your report! We stayed at POR back on 2009, and I loved that hotel! I thought the quick service there was awesome, and I did love the theming of the place -- the grounds are so lovely, and my kids really loved the water wheel/mill. Just not a fan of the buses from POR - I remember them being wayyyyyy too crowded. One not so thrilling memory involves me having to stand with my arm looped around the pole, holding not just my 2 year old, but also her stroller with one arm, while gripping my 5 year old with the other (who also had to stand:( - so crazy that only in Disney that seems to be OK to people?!) Not the greatest memory. But it sounds like your bus experience is not too bad so far, so maybe things have improved.

And I kept waiting for your wardrobe malfunction to show up on your log of 6/19, but it looks like that was actually a good clothes day for you! :joyfull:

Thank you very much!!

I pretty much love everything about POR. We had great bus service overall this trip so I can't really complain. A few times we did get on a FQ bus to get back when it seemed like a Riverside bus was taking forever or if we were going to have to wait for another one. I'm always amazed(& I've seen it quite often) when people don't offer their seats to someone with kids esp. when you're trying to balance a stroller also. I never want to see a little one standing on those buses. I'm always afraid they're going to get hurt. I know I sometimes have a hard time keeping myself from falling(some drivers--WOW!!) so I always think of how much harder it is for them.

That was a good clothes day for me!! The next wardrobe malfunction doesn't strike until 6/22!!

It was time for our first FP of the day! J didn't give us an issue about going on. About a year ago he, E & myself were going on & when he realized where we were he stopped walking & wouldn't move any further. He totally refused to go on it.(Again, it's the dark part that he doesn't like). But he was a trooper today!!

We headed for IASW next. I snagged another picture of us in our matching shoes.
As I am typing this I am noticing how dirty that pole is.

This is one of my favorite scenes!!
IMG_2825.jpg

I always enjoy looking at the little ones reactions on this ride. I love going on this with my nieces/nephews. Their look of wonder & amazement always makes me smile.
IMG_2827.jpg

IMG_2828.jpg

After our cruise we decided to get lunch. E was on her way so she told me what she wanted & I mobile ordered.
IMG_2829.jpg

I normally get the Lobster Roll but decided to change it up a bit & go with the Shrimp & Fish Combo. R & E got the same thing but they also had chicken with theirs.
I always wonder why they give you cocktail sauce with the meal instead of having it at the condiment bar with everything else?
IMG_2830.jpg

J had the kids tuna sandwich. Isn't that the cutest thing??
IMG_2831.jpg

I always enjoy the food there & today was no exception!

Now it was time for our HM FP!! As we were approaching the FP entrance J started crying. He was not feeling the HM today for sure! We were at the end of our window & we asked the CM at the FP entrance if we could do a swap since J didn't want to go on. He said R & I could ride then E could ride with one of us after. We said "Are you sure we don't need anything?" He replied no & that he would remember.
IMG_2832.jpg

IMG_2833.jpg

IMG_2834.jpg

We stopped for some PP pics on the way out. I was hoping for a ghost in our pictures but no such luck.
IMG_3598.JPG

Now it was E's turn so she & R went to go on. Of course, when she scanned her band Mickey turned blue & the CM told her that her FP window was expired. And, as luck would have it, it was a different CM working at that point. She & R explained the situation & he finally let them go through. I guess the first CM who said he would "remember" didn't "remember" to tell the person who was relieving him. I don't know how he could forget b/c he witnessed J crying about being afraid to go on.

I have two words for this scene: MOBILE ORDER
IMG_2836.jpg

One area I have never explored but would like to. One of these days....
IMG_2837.jpg

Time for the wildest ride in the wilderness!! R & I rode then he & E did.
IMG_2838.jpg

IMG_2839.jpg

We just wandered around for a little bit taking in the scenery.

J had been napping while we were taking turns on BTMRR & once he was up we went to watch PhilharMagic. I forgot to mention that at the end of any attraction that required 3D glasses J wanted to collect ours so he could put them all in the bin on the way out.
IMG_2844.jpg

We walked through the castle as we made our way out.
IMG_2845.jpg

IMG_2846.jpg

See ya real soon!!
IMG_2847.jpg

We made our way to the monorail. We had friends to meet!!
IMG_2848.jpg

Finally--the first monorail ride of the trip!! If you asked J he would say it was the "third" one.

TUESDAY, JUNE 19TH

Good morning from POR!! When I tell you that I could live here I seriously mean it!! I usually start my mornings by getting up pretty early(I'm used to doing it for work after all) and going out for a walk/jog around Port Orleans. I was excited to have a whole week of getting up early & enjoying the resort while it was still quiet. It makes it that much prettier!!
View attachment 297686

You can't imagine how thankful & happy I am when I'm here. I think about it all the time during my walks.
View attachment 297687

You can take the trail down to FQ which I like to do.

Hello FQ!!

Back at Riverside!
View attachment 297690

View attachment 297691

The view from our floor(our rooms were a few doors down). It was nice to be upgraded to a river view room. It may not sound like a big deal since there are no balconies there but it really does come in handy. The buildings are so big there & sometimes with a standard view room you have to make a ton of turns to get to your room. The last thing I want to do in the dark when I'm tired is go through a maze to get to my room.
View attachment 297692

I don't have any photos but we stopped at The Riverside Mill before we went to HS. J couldn't wait to have some Mickey waffles. R had(like he did every morning of the trip) a banana(of course) & apples. I'm not sure what E had. A lot of times she'll eat what's on J's plate b/c he usually doesn't finish it. I am sure I am right when I say I didn't have anything. I'm really don't eat breakfast.(I know, shame on me--it's the most important meal of the day)

According to the time on my phone this picture was taken at 9:59. One advantage of leaving a bit later than park opening is that it is much easier to get on a bus at the South Depot at Riverside. During peak times it can be completely insane. If we don't go to The Riverside Mill in the morning we avoid the South Depot & take whichever one is closest to our room.

While waiting for the bus J found this pine cone & entertained himself with it. He liked it so much that we had to take it with us.
View attachment 297693

At 10:30 we were headed in. Since R & J don't have bags we told them to go through the line for guests without bags & we would meet them inside. Well wouldn't you know it, J's fingerprint wasn't working. They had to reset it & told R he would have to use his right thumb now. The CM said that sometimes their fingers are so small that the scanner can't pick it up. There is usually more success with the thumb since they're bigger than the fingers. J couldn't wait to go on TSMM so he was so excited to go in with R. In his mind the quicker he got inside HS the quicker he would get to TSMM.
View attachment 297694

I was pushing the stroller & as the security guard was checking it he commented "Nice pine cone you got there". I explained that J wouldn't let us put it back in the woods so we were stuck with it for now. The pine cone actually stayed in that stroller for the rest of the trip. He checked quite often to make sure it was still there.
