Trip Report What's going on with my clothes??

The title.

It's what I've been having the hardest time with for the last week or so. I'm not totally sold on it but I must say that it did make for a lot of laughs(at my expense of course). When I think about how much energy I've channeled to coming up with something, especially when that energy could have been put to better use( like at work or something), I decided to stick with this & move forward. Otherwise, this TR would never get started. Anyways, welcome to my very first trip report!! I'm happy with myself for finally doing one & I'm more than excited to relive our adventures & share them with you fine people!!
So, let me start by getting the introductions out of the way......

WHO: R & myself, my sister E & her son J, my sister C & her husband D & their daughters E & A

WHEN: June 18th-25th *C,D,E & A's plans were a little different than ours. They were there 6/21-7/7*

WHERE: my home away from home, POR

Here's the crew: myself, R, D, C, E(niece), E(sister), J & A

I love Tusker House. The characters are so great there. We used to always do Chef Mickey’s but it is so chaotic and very little character love. I still have to do a character meal with or without kids! Well, I am the kid I suppose. 😳
I am loving the new Scrooge!! He looks so much better than he used to. I hope that is still going on when we get there. I am dying to see LaunchPad too.

It was time for our FOP FP's!! R & I rode first while E got J a Night Blossom. He loves the boba balls so he picks those out & eats all those. I really don't think I've ever seen him actually have the drink itself.

After R & I rode I used J's magic band & went on with E. I offered for R to go but he said two times in a row was too much. Works for me!!
IMG_3137.jpg

Can someone explain this to me?
Furthermore, service dog, yes or no?

E's ready to go!!

I just love this ride & was super excited that I got to go on it twice!!

Walking through Africa for the final time this trip.

I have enjoyed every meal I've had there. I agree about Chef Mickey's. I'd take Tusker House any day!! I'm taking my niece(she's older) in a few weeks & we have no character meals booked. I may have to rectify that. You can't go to Disney & not meet any characters esp. the main man himself!!

Enjoying the report! I may have to talk the hubby into trying POR one day. We drive to the parks and he did not like the location of Old Key West, so it may take some work. Lol I think he is just used to staying at Coronado and knows it by heart. It looks beautiful though. And also if my bag had been puked on, I probably would have, not on purpose, returned the favor. Total germ freak, and I cannot deal with someone throwing up. 🤢
Me too, and I'd be needing a new bag.

E didn't really care to go on EE so I told R we could go on after FOP & try for the single rider line again. He said he didn't want to go on if it was via the single rider line.(Didn't matter to me--I was going on with or without him!!) I was able to get FP's after FOP so that worked out.

Now let me explain something. I have a TREMENDOUS fear of heights. You may think, how does she get on a plane, go on certain rides etc? Here is the only way I can explain it. I can handle rides like SM & RNRC b/c they are in the dark so I can't see what's coming next & since they are indoors I feel "safe". I can get on a plane b/c I'm in an enclosed area so I feel "safe." I can handle Everest if I keep my head down for the hill climbing into the mountain & my eyes closed for the ride out of it. Since there is so much scenery around the ride itself I can't physically see how high up I actually am so I'm ok with that. To sum this up--I went on Splash once twenty some years ago & never will again. Truth be told--I don't know that I will actually ride Slinky Dog b/c it seems like the ride is to "open" for me to handle. I know, I'm nuts but I honestly can't help it & the older I get the worse I am.

It was starting to get dark out & we could tell a storm was coming. Right before it was our turn to board a CM approached the CM near us & said that ours would be the last train that could board due to the weather. So we get to the point in the ride where you stop momentarily before you come out of the mountain only we didn't stop momentarily. At one point I said to R "Something is wrong. We are being stopped way too long." Then the panic started to set in on my end. So I'm at one of my least favorite parts of the ride & have nothing but time on my hands to sit there & think why we were stranded in the mountain. I figured it may have something to do with the weather based on what we heard the CM say. Then my biggest fear set in--what if they made us evacuate the ride & I somehow had to walk down to civilization? My eyes started to tear up a bit & I had to keep telling myself to take deep breaths to try & keep myself somewhat calm. In the end we were probably only stopped for a minute but let me tell you it felt like an eternity.

IMG_3591.JPG

I made the mistake of posting this picture on Facebook & a friend of mine commented on how happy I looked in all my photos except this one.

After this we decided we should get moving to try & beat the rain that we could see was on its way.
IMG_3149.jpg

As we were walking towards the bus stop we could see that there was not a POR bus there nor was there anyone in line for it. As we approached the stop out of nowhere came "the rude family". As we went through the rows to get to the first one(like you're supposed to) they came right to the front from the side so they were first to get on the bus. It's not like there were 100 people waiting for the bus & they had no chance of getting on so what was the point? But, what really got to us was when mom & dad started giggling with their kids as they looked at us getting in line behind them. Like really, what are you teaching your kids? I'm usually pretty quiet & won't say anything but my facial expressions are another story & I just can't help it. I looked right at mom & gave her a total look of disgust. All of a sudden she whispered something to her husband then loudly said, "Come on kids let them go in front of us. They were here first." Again, it wasn't a big deal b/c it's not like we all wouldn't get on the bus but it was more the principle of it all. We didn't say a word to them & walked right by & took our rightful place in line.

FRIDAY, JUNE 22ND(CONT.)

We were headed to DS for dinner. We figured we were going to have to take the bus b/c the boats weren't running & the pool was closed. I walked around for a bit & saw they were opening the pool back up so I figured there was hope for the boat.

The boat it would be!!

Is there any way I could live here for the rest of my life?

J enjoyed looking at the fish while we waited.
IMG_3168.jpeg

Here comes our boat!!
IMG_3169.jpeg

The CM on the right was "earning her ears" & I felt quite bad for her. It took her a few tries to get the boat next to the dock. The CM training her had to end up doing it. It probably doesn't help that there are 50 people standing there watching you while you're learning how to do something.

I forgot to mention that "the rude family" ended up being on the boat also. I had to sit across from dad.

C,D,E & A actually rode one of these a few days earlier. They said it was fun.
IMG_3177.jpeg

Honestly, I can take or leave DS. I will not lose sleep if I don't make it there during a trip. It's always crazy busy there & with all the new stores they put in it feels like another shopping mall to me.

The only reason I would consider going to DS. I love this place!! The Italian sandwich is excellent!! But we would not be eating here this time.

FRIDAY, JUNE 22ND(CONT.)

On the first day I had mentioned that there were a few evenings where we didn't have dinner reservations. At the last minute R wanted that rectified. I panicked a bit about today b/c we were now a party of 8. I didn't think I would have much luck getting anything. I was able to get a reservation for 8:10 at Chef Art Smith's Homecomin'. My sisters & I were pretty excited b/c we had all heard such good things about it & were happy to be eating here.

Again, not being the biggest DS fan I had looked at a map in the room before we left so I knew where it was located. When we got there we headed in that direction. R asked me if I knew where I was going & I told him somewhat but not really. As we were getting closer I told him that we needed to go down those steps to our left & I think it should be behind there. He felt I was a little too uncertain so he said he would use his phone to get us there. Well, we kept walking & walking & walking until it told us we had arrived at our destination. It took us to the lime parking garage!!:arghh: I forgot to mention that E didn't bring J's stroller since she didn't think we would be doing that much walking so she ended up carrying J. I stopped and asked for directions & I hate to say it but I was right all along. I was a bit irritated at that point b/c it was hot & we ended up walking 15 minutes out of our way & we were cutting it super close to our reservation time. But in all fairness to R it wasn't his fault that Google maps didn't know where it was sending us either.

Finally!! We made it. My sister & her family had arrived before us. Lucky them--they didn't get lost!!

FRIDAY, JUNE 22ND(CONT.)

R had The Art Burger. He said it was one of the best burgers he has ever had.
IMG_3192.jpeg

E(niece) was sitting to my right so I snapped a picture of her food. She got a burger off of the kids menu & enjoyed it.
IMG_3194.jpeg

J & A shared a meal. C was splitting it up for them.
IMG_3195.jpeg

I had Art's Famous Chicken. The chicken was good. I think after everything I've heard I expected to be out of this world but to me it wasn't. I would definitely go back though!!
Now the mashed potatoes on the other hand--I would go back & just get them for a meal!! As good as they were at Yachtsman's E & I both agreed that they were a million times better here. Just by the taste something is telling me there was probably a million pounds of butter in them!!
IMG_3196.jpeg

I guess I caught A at the wrong moment.
IMG_3197.jpeg

We all enjoyed our meals!!
We were leaving & D happened to notice my shorts(I never thought to change them earlier). He was laughing at me. When I told him about #1 shorts & showed him my shirt he was really laughing at me. He is always dressed perfect & everything matches on him to a T so he found it to be quite humorous.

Pic of the kiddos after dinner.
IMG_3199.jpeg

We were walking through DS. Well, most of us were--J & A were holding hands while running. One guess as to who fell? They were still holding hands when they went down so J's hand is what met the pavement. He had a pretty nasty cut on his hand but he was a trooper about it.

Bubbles will make it better!!
IMG_3200.jpeg

I really wanted to try Ghirardelli even though I would probably only eat a few bites since I'm not that fond of ice cream. But as usual the line was out the door so I passed. Besides, I pronounced it wrong & my sisters were busy making fun of me.
IMG_3203.jpeg

At this point we parted ways. We would be seeing them again on Sunday. We took the boat back to POR.

J was up & ready to go. He showed me his battle wound from the night before.
Ouch!!

I hope you had a great time!! I feel your pain on the title.
It really was nice to meet up with everyone. It's so much fun!! Even though I may have got some looks from E & R now I think they're kind of interested. E wants to know the name of this site. R asks me every few days if I've posted anything new & he asks to read it. Maybe I've converted them!!
J is too funny. I've never seen him act that way so it made it extra cute!!

That's my biggest problem. There are some restaurants that I just can't skip b/c I like them so much but then it makes it difficult to try new places. It's always a tough call for me....
Did your husband not know you post on this site? My husband gets a kick out of forum stories, though he doesn't post here himself. But then, we met online on a game, which is kind of like a forum except you are playing a role rather than yourself. But I've met....gosh, I can't even count the number of people I've met from internet forums/games, though I have only met one person from this site. I'm hoping I'll get to meet a few in 2019 when we're there, though!

That is so cute with J and Em....I'm sure she's great with children. She's a teacher, right? Though I don't know what grade she teaches....

Y'all, I just read a review of 'Ohana that said they replaced the potstickers with egg rolls! I will be devastated if that is a permanent change. You guys with upcoming ADRs will have to keep me informed!

Really enjoying your report @riverside !
NOOOOOOOO!!!!! The potstickers are the best part of that whole meal!!!! They are pretty much the sole reason I plan to book 'Ohana for our 2019 trip...I have been daydreaming about those potstickers!!!

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 20TH(CONT.)

We got back to POR around 8:15. We went to our rooms & decided to head down to The River Roost for a drink. R knocked on E's door to see if they were ready & he heard a lot of crying coming from the room. He decided it would be wise to just keep going.
View attachment 298907

The River Roost--very odd that it is so empty for a Wednesday night. Oh wait, that would be b/c YeHaa Bob was on vacation:cry::cry::cry:
I must admit when I found out that he was going to be on vacation the exact same week that we would be there I seriously considered switching our days. But due to our schedules it couldn't be done. Even J was disappointed that he wouldn't be there. He really enjoys his shows also--actually my whole family does.
On the nights that Bob is there you normally have to get there an hour before his show to get a seat. That was not the case today.
View attachment 298908

Here's a picture from a previous trip.
His shows are so entertaining & fun!! Honestly, I don't know where he gets all his energy from!! If you ever get the chance to see him definitely do it. You won't be disappointed. I would guess that I've seen him at least 30 times & I'm always looking forward to the next one!!

I ordered a Sangria. I'm not quite sure what R got.
View attachment 298909

This gentleman was filling in for Bob that evening. He was good but he's just not Bob. It was definitely a different type of show. He would have people holler out what they wanted to hear him sing & he would do it. It was actually quite impressive. Some guy sitting at the bar asked him to sing "Bohemian Rhapsody" & he responded with "Really, I'm only one person." But he did it & it was quite good!!
View attachment 298911

Look who decided to join us!!
View attachment 298912

J asked him to sing "Eight Days a Week" & he did. E really likes that song so J knows it quite well.

Oh, we also found out what all the crying was about earlier. J is potty trained but since we were in Disney she decided to keep pull ups on him while we were at the parks b/c as soon as he says he has to go he means that he has to go right then & there and she didn't want any issues. When they had got back to their room she no sooner went into the bathroom & he said he had to go. I guess she didn't get out quick enough so he ended up having an accident. That really bothered him b/c he doesn't like the feeling. She carefully tried to get the pull up off but no such luck. It somehow fell out & he ended up stepping in it. She said he was crying & kept screaming "There's poop in my toes". Poor kid. I felt bad for him. Sorry if this was TMI for anyone. I debated sharing this story(R thought I shouldn't) but it is funny & it's part of the trip. At least I don't have pictures to go along with it!!:p
Awwww.....poor kid! Wow....he sounds so much like my son at that age. Even now, DS is 10, but if he gets a DROP of water or something on his clothes, he freaks out. We were in Amsterdam the other day, and I don't know what happened, but he somehow got a couple drops of fanta on his shorts and he rolled the shorts all the way up (it looks ridiculous when he does that, but it's a common thing for him) so he couldn't feel his "wet clothes". And he also panicked outside Haunted Mansion and refused to go in and stood there crying and screaming "I'M NOT GOING IN THERE!!!!! You PROMISED I didn't have to go in!!" And I'm sure he would have adopted the pine cone....I can't tell you how many sticks he picked up and insisted had to come home with us on the way home from school. We had a pile out front because I told him the sticks don't like to live inside...they prefer to live outside with their little stick friends. At least it looks like J was cheered up by the time they caught up with you!!

SATURDAY, AUGUST 4TH(PRESENT MOMENT)

R, H & B(two more nieces) & I are at the Pirate game. H asks me if I was painting. I said no & asked why. She told me to look at my shirt.
Even though this has nothing to do with the trip I figured I’d throw in my latest wardrobe disaster:
