Trip Report What's going on with my clothes??

The title.

It's what I've been having the hardest time with for the last week or so. I'm not totally sold on it but I must say that it did make for a lot of laughs(at my expense of course). When I think about how much energy I've channeled to coming up with something, especially when that energy could have been put to better use( like at work or something), I decided to stick with this & move forward. Otherwise, this TR would never get started. Anyways, welcome to my very first trip report!! I'm happy with myself for finally doing one & I'm more than excited to relive our adventures & share them with you fine people!!
So, let me start by getting the introductions out of the way......

WHO: R & myself, my sister E & her son J, my sister C & her husband D & their daughters E & A

WHEN: June 18th-25th *C,D,E & A's plans were a little different than ours. They were there 6/21-7/7*

WHERE: my home away from home, POR

Here's the crew: myself, R, D, C, E(niece), E(sister), J & A

Did your husband not know you post on this site? My husband gets a kick out of forum stories, though he doesn't post here himself. But then, we met online on a game, which is kind of like a forum except you are playing a role rather than yourself. But I've met....gosh, I can't even count the number of people I've met from internet forums/games, though I have only met one person from this site. I'm hoping I'll get to meet a few in 2019 when we're there, though!
That is so cute with J and Em....I'm sure she's great with children. She's a teacher, right? Though I don't know what grade she teaches....
With his job he is always being reminded of what you should/shouldn't be putting on social media etc. & he's pretty cautious about it so initially I wasn't quite sure how he would feel about it. I finally broke the news to him last year after I saw @Tuvalu & @TrolleyFollower91 but didn't approach them b/c 1-I read a lot but never posted & 2-I wasn't quite sure of how he would react. I did make sure he was alright with me posting his pic etc. before I did this TR though!!

That's a pretty cool way to meet people--including your husband!!
Em was great with J!! She left an impression on him for sure!!
NOOOOOOOO!!!!! The potstickers are the best part of that whole meal!!!! They are pretty much the sole reason I plan to book 'Ohana for our 2019 trip...I have been daydreaming about those potstickers!!
The potstickers are my favorite part of the meal!!
Awwww.....poor kid! Wow....he sounds so much like my son at that age. Even now, DS is 10, but if he gets a DROP of water or something on his clothes, he freaks out. We were in Amsterdam the other day, and I don't know what happened, but he somehow got a couple drops of fanta on his shorts and he rolled the shorts all the way up (it looks ridiculous when he does that, but it's a common thing for him) so he couldn't feel his "wet clothes". And he also panicked outside Haunted Mansion and refused to go in and stood there crying and screaming "I'M NOT GOING IN THERE!!!!! You PROMISED I didn't have to go in!!" And I'm sure he would have adopted the pine cone....I can't tell you how many sticks he picked up and insisted had to come home with us on the way home from school. We had a pile out front because I told him the sticks don't like to live inside...they prefer to live outside with their little stick friends. At least it looks like J was cheered up by the time they caught up with you!!
Funny you brought up wet clothes--I have a story coming up about J & his wet clothes!!

I'm trying to remember how we actually got rid of the pine cone!!
At least you managed to keep the sticks outside!!
I agree about Disney Springs! I still like to go, but I mostly stick to the area right around World of Disney. And Tusker House has had bananas every time we've had breakfast there!
When I go I stick to that area also. I don't want to sound like a downer on DS but if I can I try to stay out of World of Disney. That place is always so crazy it almost gives me anxiety!! I need a GPS just to get around there. I always feel like I get lost inside there!!

I knew it!!! I know I've seen bananas there before. As soon as I saw your post I read it to R so he didn't think I had been giving him a bum steer!! Thanks for helping me to redeem myself!!:)
Interesting looking service dog... I'd like to know what certain people use them for. I know you're not allowed to ask but I think it would be cool to find out!
I was thinking the same thing!!
No ketchup on the tots for me either.
We should start a non-ketchup club!!
We haven't been to Tusker House in such a long time, but I do agree that their breakfast is amazing!!!
It is a great breakfast!! I was a bit bummed b/c they always had a spicy corned beef hash that I loved. Unfortunately, it wasn't there this time:(

EEEK....

Just catching up on your TR! Looks like you are having a blast!

Speaking of, the same kid who was told that he was too short for Soarin' a few hours before must have grew in that time b/c he was tall enough for Test Track & they have the same height requirement!!

I find this so odd that kids can get on one ride but not the other when it's the same height requirement. I've been in line for Space Mtn many times and noticed parents arguing with cast members about getting their kids on the ride. I'm glad J was tall enough for TT and hopefully he enjoys Soarin' next trip! Soarin's kind of dark, though so maybe it was for the best this time!

J's dessert. It was so cute!! I was secretly jealous that it wasn't mine!!
I'd love a good steak at Yachtman's. We usually go to BOG for my steak (husband can't eat beef). Anyway, the puzzle dessert is ADORABLE!!!:D:D:D:geek::geek::geek::hungry::hungry::hungry: Makes me want to make one myself!

Hummingbird cake there that is great too. It's $14.00 for one piece but it is huge
For the next time we venture to POR, we may have to budget for our Hummingbird cake....Cake makes me weak in the knees lol.

. I have a TREMENDOUS fear of heights.

YES!!!:eek::eek:o_O:rolleyes::rolleyes::banghead::banghead::banghead::bawling::bawling::bawling::bored::bored::bored: YOU AND ME BOTH!!! I do NOT like heights. I fell off a chair lift when I was six and I think that did me in height-wise. I can do Splash Mountain, but the fear of the drop isn't very fun. The drop looks bigger than it is, but I still close my eyes tight and grab on. Like you, it's funny, the indoor RandRC doesn't bother me because I can't see the track (same on Space Mtn.) but I WILL NEVER, EVER go on the ToT.

The lift hill on Everest is very hard for me, I close my eyes but I do worry if there's an evacuation while we are on the lift hill. That would be very stressful for me. :arghh::arghh::banghead::banghead::bawling: I was worrying last year and my friend said "don't go looking for trouble." And now I try not to think about it and just enjoy the ride!!! I'm glad J found another girl but seems like nobody can ever replace @TrolleyFollower91 in his heart. I do hope they meet again! :inlove::inlove::inlove:

So nice that you were able to meet your extended family at Homecomin'!!! Yes, I have that problem with my DH, too. He often thinks he's right, when I've already asked or looked at the map, etc. Anyway, glad you made it and those deviled eggs look DIVINEE!! Those are one of my favorite snack foods (but hard to make!) so I enjoy them very much when I can get them!!!

Oh, I feel ya about DSprings, just another huge shopping mall. Honestly, I feel like I find more unique stuff in Mouse Gear sometimes than WOD DS. Though, the art shop in DS has great books and pics sometimes.

Spoiler alert: He ended up being tall enough for Soarin' a few days later!!

I haven't been to BOG in awhile. I'm taking my niece in a few weeks & she wanted to eat there. Of course, it's closed for refurbishment while we're there. The puzzle was so much fun!!

You could probably feed 4-5 people with that one slice!

Wow-falling off of a chair lift sounds pretty scary. I hope you weren't seriously injured. I prefer not to go on ToT. I only go if someone else wants to go on but if I can sit it out I will. I can tolerate it b/c it's indoors.

After my EE experience I know that's going to be on my mind every time I get on a ride.
I hope J gets to see Em again also!! He would be thrilled!!

All that extra walking was aggravating but the meal was worth it in the end!!

Mouse Gear is probably my favorite store. I always find things in there that I don't see anywhere else.

Thanks for reading!!

SATURDAY, JUNE 23RD(CONT.)

We made the daily stop at The Riverside Mill so R could get his banana & we were on our way to HS!
IMG_3224.jpeg

IMG_3225.jpeg

A little peek of Toy Story Land.
IMG_3226.jpeg

R.I.P. Pixar Place....
IMG_3227.jpeg

Time for lunch!! We were a bit concerned about how J would react since it's dark in there. R picked this restaurant-not so much for the food but b/c he likes the atmosphere.
IMG_3228.jpeg

J was excited when he saw the water cups. He called them "sno-cone" cups.
IMG_3230.jpeg

R had the Magical Star Cocktail & I went with the Habanero Lime Martian Margarita.
IMG_3231.jpeg

E went with the New Belgium Fat Tire Amber Ale.
IMG_3232.jpeg

Nothing was really appealing to me so I went with the Sci-Fi Appetizer Sampler.
IMG_3233.jpeg

J thought that eating in the cars was really neat so the dark didn't bother him!!

SATURDAY, JUNE 23RD(CONT.)

We were seated close to the front & J really enjoyed the movie clips.
IMG_3236.jpeg

My margarita
IMG_3237.jpeg

I enjoyed the sampler platter. Everything was really good especially the fried pickles!!
IMG_3239.jpeg

IMG_3240.jpeg

I went with something healthy for dessert.
IMG_3241.jpeg

As we exited Sci-Fi we came out to a major downpour. Since we didn't know that it was going to rain E didn't have the cover on the stroller so she knew it was soaked. She told J to stay with R & I so she could go get the stroller. He wasn't having it. He started crying & said that he wanted to go with his mom. Now he has never had a problem staying with one of us so I didn't understand why he didn't want to. E explained later that he was scared for his mom to go out in the rain & he felt better if he was with her. What a gentleman!!

You can see E & J to the right running for cover.
IMG_3243.jpeg

I finally made the move to go after them while R stayed put.
IMG_3244.jpeg

We made it over to the area where there are FP kiosks near Muppets.
It was really coming down!!
IMG_3245.jpeg

I ran into Pizzerizzo's to swap out mine & E's fuel rods.
IMG_3246.jpeg

J was soaking wet & was not a happy camper!!

I don't like watching non-Disney TV while I'm at Disney either. My husband does not like that and tries to watch other stuff while I'm in the bathroom. I tell him to turn it right when I get back in the room. I like to pretend the outside world doesn't exist while I'm at Disney.

I've tried that, but always slip back over to the dark side, and watch the news. However, I will admit that I've watched Stacy's "Must Do's" video on every trip, MULTIPLE times!

I am one that always watches the news at home—it’s pretty much all I watch. But when I’m at Disney I like to leave the real world behind. If all I see are the “Must Do’s” I’m perfectly happy. R actually got tired of watching them but he knew better than to put on regular tv so he would put on Disney cartoons during the night!

I forgot to include this photo earlier. It's obviously a pre-rain photo!!
IMG_3590.jpeg

J was completely drenched so E went in search for new clothes & shoes for him. Since we were right there R & I decided to pay the Muppets a visit.

The theater was quite full.

These two crack me up!!

We met up with E & J on Hollywood Blvd. J was happy with his new shoes!!

We had FP's & we were cutting it close to the end of our window which meant only one ride for E & myself:(

We hadn't had our daily Starbucks fix so that is where we headed next.
IMG_3257.jpeg

IMG_3258.jpeg

I don't know what it is but it seems like this one is never crowded.
IMG_3261.jpeg

E walked J through the stores so he could take a nap. I saw the Citizens of Hollywood setting up shop so R & I watched them. They were so entertaining & funny!!
IMG_3263.jpeg

IMG_3264.jpeg

J ended up not napping so E caught the end of the show.

Now it was time for one of J's favorites.

J had just got done dumping all our glasses in the bin.
IMG_3274.jpeg

Our time at HS was coming to a close but we couldn't leave without getting in one last meet & greet. R & J would have been bummed if we didn't get this one in.
IMG_3276.jpeg

He is so cute!!
IMG_3278.jpeg

He was showing J how this worked & I(not knowing the first thing about Star Wars) had to ask R what this even was. Now I know--I'll be better prepared next time!!

There was only a 5 minute wait for BB-8 so we figured we'd pay him a visit. None of us had ever met him so why not!!
IMG_3279.jpeg

IMG_3584.JPG

I always forget about the Disney Visa card meet & greets. I suggested that we go see who it was.
You can barely see him.
IMG_3588.JPG

Kylo Ren was like the one we met earlier in the week. He was very good about not being too scary for J.
IMG_3587.jpeg

We had planned on leaving shortly but we decided to leave right then b/c it looked like a storm was coming & we didn't want to get caught in it.

It got super windy & we knew it would start raining soon. A FQ bus was there waiting so we decided to get on that.

Can someone explain this to me?
Furthermore, service dog, yes or no?
View attachment 300342

View attachment 300343

If I had to wager, I'd bet this helps other people see the service dog better. I know with strollers and rolling luggage, nobody seems to look down when they walk and they'll run right into them. I'd bet this gives the dog much higher visibility.

View attachment 301029

At this age they all seem to go through fear of weather. My daughter was like this about rain and I had to take her on a few "rain walks" to help her get over it. We jumped in puddles and played with umbrellas and it was so distracting that she forgot she was afraid of the rain. Maybe something to suggest to E :)

J was completely drenched so E went in search for new clothes & shoes for him.

We met up with E & J on Hollywood Blvd. J was happy with his new shoes!!

Oops!! That was an expensive mistake! But those shoes do look really cool!

We looked around the gift shop for a bit when we arrived at FQ. I bought a new pair of readers for work. I may have to buy another pair next time I'm there. I wasn't paying attention when I bought them & got a 2.0. Wow--my head spins after I take them off!! They're a bit too strong for me.

Fortunately the rain had stopped for our walk back to POR.

IMG_3289.jpeg

This was one of the days where we originally didn't have a dinner reservation. When I scrambled to find a reservation for 8 for this evening I was able to get Mama Melrose. I prefer to have a few nights with no reservations. I like not being tied down to a particular park esp. later in a trip. At that point I like to take things a little bit easier. Anyhow, my sister C & her family had different plans so I changed our reservation to a party of 4 earlier in the week. I was not too thrilled about our reservation--it was for something like 8:30 or so. We agreed to cancel it & made one for Boatwright's instead. Much closer to home--perfect!!

So our plan for the evening was to stop at Muddy Rivers for a drink then head around the corner to roast marshmallows at 6:30 for J. We had scheduled a carriage ride a few days earlier(once we canceled Mama Melrose's) for 7:00 & our Boatwrights reservation was for 7:45.

I just love Muddy Rivers!!

I don't remember what I got(I'll make sure I take better notes for the next TR) but I did not like it in the least bit. I should just learn to stick with things I'm familiar with instead of trying new things.

It started to rain again so everyone had to get out of the pool. Unfortunately, that also meant that they wouldn't be roasting marshmallows either. We were concerned that our carriage ride would be canceled also.

R had a Nola Cola. I tried it and it was really good!!
