I'll admit I more or less have been skimming responses but I didn't see anyone really get upset... I got upset at the continued clichéd generalizations but I've already address that and won't repeat myself.
You have to acknowledge the glaring difference between smoking and drinking you're ignoring.
People who smoke... Smoke. As in, you don't have a massive culture of one cigarette a week smokers who do it during a meal or some occasion as such. Smoking and drinking are drastically different categories.
If you go to any metropolitan area, there aren't hundreds if not thousands of establishments that sell hundreds of types of different cigarettes that people sit in stools and smoke 1-10 cigarettes at with other people. If you go to a sporting event, concert, or a play they aren't selling cigarettes to enjoy.
There's no arguing or denying the many dangers, and consequences of irresponsible drinking. But smoking and drinking are night and day. Drinking is almost entirely banned in public, you go somewhere for the intent to have a drink... People walk down the street and smoke and it's disgusting. Cigarettes smell and just their existence ruin other people's moment by the smell.
There's no such thing as unwanted second hand liver disease or intoxication with alcohol.
I'm sorry if I mad you feel that way, because quite honestly you sound more like me. I also do on occasion have a drink, I just don't understand our culture in general where so many people think it has to be available everywhere, you have said you would care less if Disney world didn't have it , but so many people care and care deeply, I guess I just don't see the need everywhere, the nice sit meals at Disney, yes it is fine there, and in facr would be rather odd if there were no wine in the restraint in France or no Saki in Japan, I do think the outside quick service stands where thousands of kids pass by could stand to go, it is not people like you Im talking about. I once saw a drunk guy on a scooter at Epcot and thought , isn't this kind of like drunk driving he could hit someone or drive off into the lagoon and hurt himself bad, kids just don't need to see that.
I drink maybe 4 drinks a month. Regularly go months at a time without a drink. I have no addiction or fixation on alcohol. The same is not the same for smoking. People who smoke are generally addicted and it's a very serious health risk.
Again, cannot stress enough I'd welcome the banning of alcohol but at every turn you're generalizing someone who likes the taste of alcohol into very unfair categories and stereotypes.
