What will Disney announce for Disney World at the 2022 D23 expo?

Also if they’re not going to use the former Pixar Place (idk what they’re calling it now) they either need to close the gates so it’s backstage all the time, or use the existing infrastructure for something. I know there isn’t much space there and it was just supposed to become backstage space after TSL was done, but then the Incredibles Summer promotion started and (lasted forever) and now the area is just depressing & dormant. Pixar Place & Animation Courtyard are embarrassments considering Galaxy’s Edge sits on the opposing end of the park.

I saw someone talking a few pages back that execs have noticed they have taken WDW for granted for too long. Should we actually expect some type of big announcements at D23 for that reason? Because one or two announcements isn’t going to make the cut, especially with the ongoing backlash regarding park reservations & park hopping restrictions.

One of those announcements better be a nighttime parade! Surely Disney is quite aware of the requests for one. Also, which is a given, Enchantments replacement. I don’t know if one of our insiders, maybe @marni1971 may have heard any kinda of entertainment rumblings? Please we need some good news or hope 😂.

Lack of creativity left in management?
I would label it “timidity in theme parks”…think I heard that somewhere once? 🤔

Statistical analysis tells them that there no chance of “failure” for park assets if they tie them to brands washed through the machine 1000 theme each…

But there’s at least a 50% chance of “mediocre”…

And gosh darn…that is exactly what the Iger legacy will be. Most notably in wdw.

Because your spending decisions DO have influence on what others ultimately do and pay. People saying exactly what you said last year about the AH ticket prices is what lead to this year’s MNSSHP ticket prices. Or is there some magical reason other than that why the base ticket price jumped 25% from the last scheduled MNSSHP?
I haven't spent there in a few years. That being said, consumers will do what consumers do, and yes the fact they keep spending will keep Disney on this path. Short of creating some kind of block going into WDW, that is what is.

I am not condoning it, but I question folks saying(and you know who you are..... ;) ) that using any Marvel that is not Avengers or Spiderman or X-men in WDW is cheap or reaching. Simply put that is naive as consumers are eating up all Marvel and all MCU characters.
Even here, where most are more... historically based.. - we have folks posting crying for Wakanda in AK or Chang-Chi there or DHS.

True, this is strictly speaking a management movement. I would guess if they really let Imagineers go, we would see better attractions, but then again the cost would be ridiculous.

WDI has been 50% of the problem for many years…since Eisner lost the handle on it.

They have to know their role and they leak into places such as this and defiantly scream offense and refusal to accept their role.

Surprised to see the new festival space and Moana updated concept art released today. Was certain that this would be saved for D23. Any chance this mean Disney has bigger topics up their sleeves for this much anticipated event?

I don't think they will not leave the cupboard empty.

…not much

Based on what, exactly?

Most of their announced projects will be finishing up by the end of the 2023.

They will need something new to start generating buzz and help try to get the shareholders excited about something. Especially when a competitor is developing a 3rd gate.

ETA: If you want to bet a $25 Disney Gift Card that we will get something new announced (attraction, show, etc) at D23, I'm in.

If you say so…

I don’t think their shareholders get “excited” about capex in the parks anymore.

What’s the upside?

Blame the Bobs

But we’ll see…you maybe right.

I’ll do you one better: didn’t chapek just say several weeks ago that they were gonna try to “find the money” for the canceled avengers and Mary poppins rides??

And this was after they slow rolled construction in Orlando that started in like 2013 that’s just now finishing?

Doesn’t seem like a “corporate willingness” to go big.

The one…and I mean ONE…potential upside (there’s 2, actually) to the whole Florida fight could be Slaphead feels the heat and at least announces things in an attempt to “look strong” and divert attention. Somebody’s stock is heading towards $110 on the slide today
