What will Disney announce for Disney World at the 2022 D23 expo?

I joined this forum railing against Avatar being added to Animal Kingdom for two reasons: 1) Replacing Beastly Kingdomme (which is one of the largest tragedies of my Disney Parks fandom) and 2) Adding an outside IP about fictional aliens to this type of park. I'm not going to debate that again, because astonishingly it seemed more people were okay with it than not.
People are okay with it because the conservation message fits the theme of the park very well, and fictional creatures aren’t a huge step from mythical ones (one of which is already represented well elsewhere in the park). It helps that the land turned out to be beautiful too. Some would even argue Pandora is more appropriate for the park than Beastly Kingdom!

The consumers are as dumb as they manner they spend their money then

Bad theme/show for “worldclass” theme parks

Typical of the Bobs though
No offense but who are you to judge? Consumers can spend their money any way they want, and if they spent it enjoying MCU movies and can then enjoy it in some kind of ride, I don't think your somewhat lofty opinion really matters.

By all reports this is a solid ride(GotG) and it is being driven due to characters from MCU movies.

Just an opinion. This is my first time ever hearing about Disney 😎

and the answer is still no. Just cause you don't see the significance of MCU character rides other than Spiderman or Avengers or X-Men, doesn't mean the consumers don't.
Why does everything that Disney adds have to have an IP attached to it. IMO Disney's best attractions have never been IP based.

I assume that’s rhetorical?
Kind of. I understand why Disney does it. To sell merch. My question is why do Disney fans need IP attached? I have brought it up before in saying they should have finished World Showcase like was planned. With each country having its planned non IP attraction. For some reason some Disney fans seem to hate the idea.

Poor management insists on shoving IP on everything.

Disney fans need nothing…as in they ask/demand nothing and will laud anything they get. Their next attraction will be completely overrated…is my guess.

I think in this point in time when the presentation starts we will see Milhouse come up on the screen to state.....

Because your spending decisions DO have influence on what others ultimately do and pay. People saying exactly what you said last year about the AH ticket prices is what lead to this year’s MNSSHP ticket prices. Or is there some magical reason other than that why the base ticket price jumped 25% from the last scheduled MNSSHP?

While true I still standby that the best Disney attractions have no IP attached to them. Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, the original Epcot attractions, Expedition Everest, Dinosaur. All non IP based attractions.
Dinosaur is IP based. :)

As for IPs in the parks, I think it’s important to find a balance. Yes, as many have pointed out there are tons of incredible attractions that have zero IP in them. I fully agree that we need new and exciting attractions that don’t lean into IPs, and we need to stop converting Non-IP attractions into IP attractions. However at the same time, a huge number of people go to Disney to specifically enjoy their favorite IPs. This practice has been in place since the parks first opened as well, and there’s no getting around it.

In regards to the IP that’s talked about the most these days, Marvel, Disney needs to find a solution to better integrate this powerhouse IP. Marvel has been the dominant franchise in the entertainment industry for close to a decade now, and is clearly going strong. As of right now, Avengers Campus in Disneyland is a failure, and doesn’t live up to the full potential of the IP. I’d assume the on hold Avengers E-ticket would go a long way to strength this land, but I think it needs more than just that. It’s a shame that the premier attraction for Marvel’s premier hero is still located at a competitors park. Cosmic Rewind seems to be a major step in the right direction, but Disney is leaving so much money on the table by not taking this further. If they’re unwilling to buyout Universal for the rights, Dr. Strange is clearly the way to go in Orlando. Infinity War leveled up the character to a household name, and Multiverse of Madness is going to take his character even further. Strange easily has the most interesting visuals of all of the MCU movies, and they could make for some killer environments that guests would love to explore in an attraction. I would wager in the next 10 years we should expect a Dr Strange land on par with Galaxy’s Edge in Hollywood Studios.

I hope & pray a Strange anchored land will replace Animation Courtyard. There is never ending possibilities of what they could do here. It would also be so easy to integrate characters like Moon Knight, Shang-Chi and even the Eternals if they wanted to.

I think Walt Disney Studios Paris should have Springfield from the Simpsons to be added in the future as other 20th Century Studios attractions.

They definitely need to do something with that area and connect it to the RNR courtyard.

i wonder if you combine the Animation Couryard area(Animation Building itself is a huge footprint) with RNR and the space around it (detaching it from Sunset where it’s already kinda separate) if you could build two proper lands. I think a rethemed RNR to a marvel property that they can use would be a good part of a proper Marvel land and a second land could be a more kid friendly Toontown or such.

The Dinosaur IP was added years after though. It could return to Countdown to Extinction with some signage change tomorrow.

I think the biggest problem with this is how you would now theme the area in which RNR sits, to me personally I think it’s out of place from the generally very well themed Sunset BLVD. For Strange to work in the way people have suggested it would have to be themed to a more mythical area rather than let’s say New York where Stranges home Sanctum is. I would not be surprised if this is at least in Blue Sky. Disney has to know that space is in desperate need of an overhaul. IMO if they weren’t planning an overhaul VOTLM would’ve been brought back by now

I saw someone talking a few pages back that execs have noticed they have taken WDW for granted for too long. Should we actually expect some type of big announcements at D23 for that reason? Because one or two announcements isn’t going to make the cut, especially with the ongoing backlash regarding park reservations & park hopping restrictions.
