Dinosaur is IP based.
As for IPs in the parks, I think it’s important to find a balance. Yes, as many have pointed out there are tons of incredible attractions that have zero IP in them. I fully agree that we need new and exciting attractions that don’t lean into IPs, and we need to stop converting Non-IP attractions into IP attractions. However at the same time, a huge number of people go to Disney to specifically enjoy their favorite IPs. This practice has been in place since the parks first opened as well, and there’s no getting around it.
In regards to the IP that’s talked about the most these days, Marvel, there’s no way around it, Disney needs to find a solution to better integrate this powerhouse IP. Marvel has been the dominant franchise in the entertainment industry for close to a decade now, and is clearly going strong. As of right now, Avengers Campus in Disneyland is a failure, and doesn’t live up to the full potential of the IP. I’d assume the on hold Avengers E-ticket would go a long way to strength this land, but I think it needs more than just that. It’s a shame that the premier attraction for Marvel’s premier hero is still located at a competitors park. Cosmic Rewind seems to be a major step in the right direction, but Disney is leaving so much money on the table by not taking this further. If they’re unwilling to buyout Universal for the rights, Dr. Strange is clearly the way to go in Orlando. Infinity War leveled up the character to a household name, and Multiverse of Madness is going to take his character even further. Strange easily has the most interesting visuals of all of the MCU movies, and they could make for some killer environments that guests would love to explore in an attraction. I would wager in the next 10 years we should expect a Dr Strange land on par with Galaxy’s Edge in Hollywood Studios.
