What will Disney announce for Disney World at the 2022 D23 expo?

Guardians is. Comic books succeed when they get not comic book recognition.

The guardians movies are great…credit to gunn and feige for building it…but it was fringe prior.

It makes zero sense to shove a couple lesser properties in when your heavy hitters are in an old land up the street.

Well because contracts but with Guardians I wouldn't call it a lesser property if you look it as a movie property. The heavy hitters up the street Hulk, Spider-man and two carnie rides

Yes…but that’s the avengers characters, X-men, FF and Spider-Man. That’s about 80% of the exploitable marvel properties.

But thats if you look at it from a comic book perspective and hardly anyone reads them ... movie wise GOTG is far more popular than FF for example. Marvel you have to remove the comic book notion.
Right…and guardians is probably the most overachieving/sleeper hit of the MCU…

But you have to have source material and there isn’t enough for legitimate use in wdw on the fringes.

One marvel ride In the wrong park. Better to leave it alone or pay up…which they won’t do.

I think you are making bad assumptions here. You are assuming folks are focused on the comic character. These days I don't think that is the case, they are focused more on the MCU Movie character. As such with as popular as GotG was and some other newer folks MCU are bringing in, they have the capability to build off those storylines and success. Yes I agree using Capt. America or Avengers would be great, I think they have shown they can win without them.

I knew you’d say that…but it means the rides have to be “great” to accomplish what they want in the parks.

They have not been.

Or the alternative is growing out of comic books into mainstream…which is unlikely and back to square one.

I love the mcu stuff…but trying to “get around” the universal contract just looks stupid

Still disagree. I don't think some of the Star wars rides are great, and they are pulling major crowds. Spiderman ride in Cali is doing very well as well and its not a great ride. People want to escape, and from what I have read on GotG ride, you have fun and some escapeisms going on. That is a win for most folks. I think here we are more Disney snobs and don't necessarily show what current customers are.

The family friendly big characters are basically not usable in Florida. Maybe they could do something cool with Punisher, Ghost Rider, or Blade, but then it's either too scary for kids or it's lame. Most of what's left would cost a ton of money to build up in order to be worthy of a big ride.

This will be debated forever…but it’s pretty easy if you look at it:

If I could build a theme park and I could use characters from the two available options…here’s what I would use:

Dc: Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, flash, green Lantern, aquaman

Marvel: xmen, avengers, fantastic four, Spider-Man

Is this really debatable??

As such it might make more sense to buy Six Flags for the DC ride likenesses than to pay any substantial ransom to Comcast for their own characters. I agree with your overall assessment that they will just wait it out and let the competitor pay them to promote their own IP.

I think Spider-Man and the X-Men were popular well beyond the comics even before any movies because of the animated TV shows.

I don't think the Avengers or Fantastic Four had that, though (or if they did they weren't as popular since I don't remember them).

Spiderman had TV cartoons and a regular network TV show prior to movies. Then all the movies post, so I don't think you can include Spiderman in this comparison.
X-men gained ground again with the terrible movies that came out, so now that they are MCU, they will only grow in favoritism. But IMO, any character used in MCU will gain ground and favor simply because they are MCU.

Fantastic Four will be the proof, as their movies were awful, an not really favored, but if Fiege and Marvel fix that, it would be a huge property.

However, none of that is the point, the point is I am betting any character from MCU, if they are used well, could be targeted for a ride in WDW and it would be popular. And the ride would not have to be ground breaking.

The question is not whether they could make rides…the question is does it look desperate/stupid given the status in Orlando??

and the answer is still no. Just cause you don't see the significance of MCU character rides other than Spiderman or Avengers or X-Men, doesn't mean the consumers don't.
The consumers are as dumb as they manner they spend their money then

Bad theme/show for “worldclass” theme parks

Typical of the Bobs though
