What will Disney announce for Disney World at the 2022 D23 expo?

Not unreasonable

I bet primeval whirl is “nothing to see here” for quite some time - however.

The Bob’s have no problems just taking stuff away and acting as if it’s good for everyone
I don’t disagree that primeval whirl might get neglected for a while, but Animal Kingdom has not received an addition in the longest amount of time, and is maxing out park pass availability like MK and Hollywood.

Animal Kingdom already had good capacity, it just needs more draws, so a solid ride would fill that need.

Hollywood needs more capacity, so you’re probably looking at a new land, and I just see no chance of that being announced at this D23 given the current Disney attitudes and lack of rumors.

If we’re getting a big news drop at D23, I think it’ll be Primeval’s replacement, or we won’t get one at all.

Everything you say is reasonable…but that ain’t how the Bob rolls…

Dak didn’t get anything from 2005-2017…and what they did get both those times was under some company/Wall Street perceived duress.

I would think an update on the Play Pavilion and Harmonious are almost definites at this point. They may even be announced ahead of the Expo.

If an additional ride (either as a Primeval Whirl replacement or otherwise) isn't announced for DAK that's a major failure.

I think a Skyliner expansion involving All Stars, Blizzard Beach, DAK, DAK Lodge and Coronado makes a ton of sense.

The reality is, they need to announce quite a bit more than that.

I could write 5 pages of everything they could or should announce for this D23. We don’t yet know if Disney is pleased with its recent investments on either coast, and we haven’t seen proof that the money vault opened all the way.

At the moment, Animal Kingdom needs an ILL replacement for Everest. Hollywood Studios has its solid two. Epcot has its solid two. Magic Kingdom’s current two are laughable, but with the opening of Tron and Tiana, it’s lineup will be solid. Animal needs something shiny to replace Everest’s ILL.

If a ride sells 20,000 ILL at $15 a piece (12-hour operation at 2500 guests per hour means 30,000 guests. 2/3rd split means 20,000) they can generate $550,000,000 over five years, which’ll cover the most expensive attractions. I have absolutely no idea how many people are buying ILL each day, but if they treat the revenue as new ride investment money, investment should start pouring in. You need shiny new rides to keep those ILL sales strong, so if that’s how they treat it, seems to be a win-win. In all likelihood, they’ll pocket most the money and occasionally reinvest, but we just don’t know yet. We don’t know how successful the recent additions have been. We don’t know how many ILLs are being bought each day. We don’t know the post-pandemic strategy of TWDC. People can trash on Chapek all they want, but we haven’t seen his non-pandemic behavior.

But all the skyliner resorts are charging astronomical rates, there’s absolutely no way the system hasn’t already paid for itself (especially when considering less stress on the buses).

To me, it seems like Disney is positioned better than ever to invest huge into the parks. We just don’t know if they will. The rumor mills have been all but entirely quite. I know Marni mentioned the skyliner expansion was back on the table, but other than that, I can’t recall anything implied as soon.

So even though (from my view) additional investment is primed to happen, there’s been little to suggest they’re about to pull the trigger on it. Hopefully all the pessimists are proven wrong.

Did Bob Chapek write this post?

MK - Needs capacity and probably a headliner. My pipe dream ask would be removal / relocation of it's a small world with a Fantasy Springs-esque expansion on that area. Either way, adding capacity to the park has to happen with more than just Tron.

EP - Needs more rides that aren't mediocre. Replacements should be on the table for Imagination, Seas, Gran Fiesta Tour and Mission: SPACE (in that order). It could also use another headliner over and above Guardians, but that can come from one of the replacements.

DHS - Needs ride capacity.

DAK - Needs ride capacity.

No need to touch Mission to Space. This is a love it or hate it kind of ride. I love it. haha.
I'm just not sure replacing Space will result in a better experience. Do the dimensions of the building and exterior space allow for a bigger attraction? Feels like another attraction could require more room. just a thought.

No need to replace anything. Net new attractions.

Its just a spinner so not much footprint but if there was a will they could change it out. As you say it is fine and there are many other priorities that need addressing before it.
How they would market their whiz bang restaurant without it though?

All this while a recession looms? And the stock is below 100 bucks? This company is so risk adverse it’s almost a joke. I’m not disagreeing with you i just don’t see them spending or even saying they will spend that money. Parks are at capacity a lot and more profitable than ever? Why build more? Y’all keep coming for what’s there now.

Replacing Mission: Space with a vacant lot would be a net benefit for the park, so a new attraction there would be a huge upgrade. Imagination also needs to be replaced. Other then that, I agree.
It doesn't matter if you like it. As long as other people are in line for it, then they aren't in line for the things you like.

Disney is not going to announce ANYTHING new. We could get dates for Tron or Play or other things we already know about.
But as long as people are willing to pay today's prices for reduced offerings, they have no reason to announce anything new at all.
