What will Disney announce for Disney World at the 2022 D23 expo?

Please no. While I am a WDW apologist, the Nemo/LM type clam rides are so boring. After the first ride it's just snooze. I agree dark rides on tracks are fine, but we need more.
Nemo, no. Little Mermaid, yes. Mermaid is a fine dark ride, it just lacks a good ending. It is a perfect family ride.

All I'm saying is we don't always need a new gigantic headliner attraction

I hear you. Nemo is so bland, and maybe too bright inside? (I do like the queue feeling under water/docks though) It's just not engaging. Mermaid is also bland and the story is rushed at the end. It could have been like Pirates, maybe some rough seas when Ursula is around. I dunno. It's not that exciting for a new ride with great outside theming.

Do we think a D23 mention or more a Disney Parks Blog update?
A “headline” with this would should a rather large amount of weakness in their park commitment
So would this be considered a Le Cellier expansion or a new restaurant?
Gave up on le outback long ago…so I hope their goal is to lure people like me back. Something like the wine bar by Tutto is always what I would prefer.

Fixes I would suggest for Mermaid would be to:
  1. Improve the first two Ariel animatronics since you’re so close to them.
  2. Add more simple animations to the currently static marine life in the Under the Sea scene. Maybe do some projection mapping in some areas to sell the underwater effect, though I’m not sure how feasible this is.
  3. Keep the vehicles rotated toward Ursula for as long as possible while ascending and remove the ugly animation of Ariel with her legs. Instead, move the screen to the ceiling and silhouette her swimming to the surface with legs, similar to the screen when you initially descend.
  4. Revamp the penultimate room to look as if you’re inside the cabin of a ship looking out through a flung-open door toward Eric’s back at a steering wheel, the prow stabbed through a projection of Ursula.
  5. If there’s space just past the ship where the silhouette of Ariel and Eric kissing currently is, switch that to a beach that reveals itself after passing through the cabin, on which Eric and Ariel (in the spangled dress she gets from Triton) are embracing. Background music could be the super brief intoned Part of Your World that resolves to a major chord.

In that period Orlando was seeing Pandora, Toy Story Land, Runaway Railway, Galaxies Edge, Rat, Guardians, Tron, Harmonious, Skyliner, riviera, etc
You’re arguing 2 different things. His argument is that Disney hasn’t been using capex to increase capacity at WDW. Not that they haven’t been improving the resort.

The entire Studios project did not increase the park’s capacity. It just replaced under utilized attractions with stuff Guests are more interested in. Which increases attendance but not capacity.

You’re right that Disney has spent like crazy from 2012 to 2022. They’ve done everything short of building a new gate. The resort is in a better much place than where it was in 2015.

You had me until this…

“better” is very subjective here. Did they add more bells and whistles? Sure…

But the rat race/daily frustration factor is higher almost literally across the board since 2012. Not my definition of “better”

I’ll say that typhoon and springs are much better over that period…more DVC units if that’s your jam.

But not really the rest. Epcot has potential…as does DAK…but they’ll not see it through.

I didn’t say the experience is better.

I said the resort is better. The contents of WDW are better than what they were in 2012. The only thing that they have actively made worse through their construction projects are the nighttime shows.

Yes the LL/G+ & reservation systems have significantly altered the Guest experience. But in 2012 everyone was complaining how absurd it was that they had to book FP+ 60 days out.

I would say the “E word” (which I don’t use because it’s a PR driving tactic) IS the resort. It doesn’t matter what you’re looking at if the process isn’t conducive to leisure…

…but I’m just a nut 🤪🥜

The concept then was prebooking rides…and reservation fees sandwiched around them…was ridiculous. Correct.
They didn’t invest to stay head of them.
Now people want that crap because it’s guarantees “minimums” to the point it ensures almost nothing more…
The train continues to slide off the tracks.

Not every new ride needs to be ground breaking.

Look, don't take my stance as something I'm happy about. I personally think WDW needs a big, REALLY big answer to Epic Universe and I want to see as much investment in WDW as possible. I also don't trust or believe in the current management to think they're competent enough to recognize the threat and react appropriately...
I mean, just look at this photo from Bioreconstruct’s Twitter feed. Epic Universe is rising at an impressive rate.

It would behoove management to realize that the example of an empire that sits on its former glories and dismisses challengers is right inside one of their own attractions.
