What will Disney announce for Disney World at the 2022 D23 expo?

Keep your expectations low. That's not me being anti-Disney or anything, just facts. I'm on a couple of other sites related to gaming and the cycle of announcements for events always gets way overhyped then immediately turns to "worst announcement show EVER" because half of the pie in the sky stuff never comes through.

  • MK: Nothing besides maybe a nighttime parade. Pains me to say that I don't think they're gonna do anything with SGE anytime soon.

  • Epcot: Opening date for Play Pavilion, SE refurbishment back on the table, Mary Poppins back on the table, update on Journey of Water and new festival area, Imagination redo.

  • HS: Very early plans for GE expansion, but no actual details quite yet. Fantasmic reopening date as well as confirmation of changes to show. Maybe a Strange ride.

  • AK: More details on updated Finding Nemo. Dino-Rama is OUTTA HERE!... for what though, I have no idea!

  • DS: Not gonna happen, but please, please announce NBA will be replaced with a brand new, modern version of DisneyQuest. Please.

like a South American pavilion in World Showcase would be a great place to start...with an Encanto Attraction would fit nicely...
If they added a South America section to Animal Kingdom would their animal portions be distinct and interesting enough to carry an entire area?
…oh dear god. Please don’t start that nonsense again?😎🤪

Having poohpoohed predictions yesterday, why the heck not put a general idea out there. Yay hypocrisy!

This is just a general thought and not related specifically to WDW, but it's the 20th anniversary of Kingdom Hearts this year. Disney has gone full throttle in terms of its crossovers recently (Rescue Rangers, several new Disney games) but the gold standard has been KH. Its cachet has never been higher than this year with Sora's inclusion into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and the announcement of 4 recently.

All this to say that I would not be stunned if Kingdom Hearts makes the leap into serious parks representation at D23 this year. Beyond merchandise and playable demos of 3, it's never happened, but it seems the time is now. Whether it's a ride, a show or something else (Hollywood Studios or Magic Kingdom seem no-brainers for locations), it would not surprise me.

Kingdom Hearts isn't even remotely big enough for Disney to care about putting it in their parks -- especially since a major part of it (the only actually worthwhile part, IMO) revolves around preexisting Disney properties.

The non-Disney KH wouldn't attract nearly enough people to Disney World to justify the investment. There are a ton of Disney movies with little to no parks representation that have a much larger draw.

That’s a pretty huge reach. That’s nothing.

Disney has fired its “big bullets” for ip in parks…at least in Orlando.

Ok we're getting into Avatar territory here...Marvel has NO PLACE at Animal Kingdom, let's not start deluding ourselves. Just because it's happening in Epcot doesn't mean it should happen in every park.

I joined this forum railing against Avatar being added to Animal Kingdom for two reasons: 1) Replacing Beastly Kingdomme (which is one of the largest tragedies of my Disney Parks fandom) and 2) Adding an outside IP about fictional aliens to this type of park. I'm not going to debate that again, because astonishingly it seemed more people were okay with it than not.

However, Dr. Strange in Animal Kingdom...I don't even know what to say. It sounds exactly like something Disney WOULD do right now, and now I'm worried you all might be on to something. I'm sure there is some Animal Kingdom purist out there that can put some better words to my nausea about this possibility. I would never have believed Avatar in AK was possible fifteen years ago, and I never really considered Marvel as a feasible option there.

Tying this all back to the topic, unfortunately, I do see something like this being announced at D23. :banghead:

What if they add the Conservation Corps to that park? 🤔
