What should Disney add to DHS?

Hmmm...lets see...

-Move Monsters Inc Laugh Floor to Pixar Place.
-Add a smaller version of Radiator Springs Racers.
-Add a duel tracked version of Crush's Coaster.
-Swap out Little Mermaid for Tangled show.
-Add Indiana Jones Adventure.
-Obviously Star Wars land.
-a flume ride based on Wreck It Ralph.
-move Roger Rabbit from DL here!

I'd feel a lot better about spending my money at this park if all this happened.

More shops. Also more starbucks. Did i mention shops?

When leaving Toy Story Mania i am dissapointed there isn't a shop on exit. Not only should there be a shop, there should be two. Also a shop on entrance. Furthermore the whole queing system should incorporate a shop.

Iger will like this.

I want a more classic Hollywood theme. The front/main street area kind of covers that, but it's not big enough. I know it's a cliche, but classic movies do have a sort of magic/charm about them.

Also, more shows would be good. Indiana Jones is getting pretty dated. And have shows run longer into the evening. Make the back lot tour more interesting. Get some new sets out there. Maybe get rid of the Pearl Harbor part (change it to something else) since nobody really cares about that movie. They have a lot of movies they can work with, add some new stuff. Though, I'm disappointed they seem to no longer have the warehouse, that was actually really cool to walk through, but no, now Frozen everything. Not against Frozen, but come on, don't get rid of the movies that came before it.

Do they still have the glorified movie trailer thing for Narnia? Get rid of that. Put something new there and something where the Drew Carey thing was. American Idol is not only irrelevant and has been for years, but now is going on its last season, so that can go.

Narnia has been gone for like, years..... American idol was removed early this year or late last year. Not sure by your post if you know that backlot tour was demolished last year in september...

I was under the impression it was just being redone, but again, I haven't followed it much. American Idol was still there last year when I went (mid-December), or at least I thought it was there. And Narnia I had previously ignored so I guess its absence wasn't too noticeable for me. But back lot is gone, forever? That would be a shame.

Yeah its gone, American idol was removed in january. Backlot I believe is gone forever, Think it will be taken over by an expansion, or it was closed just to save money for an expansion.

I'd be good if it turns into an updated type of back lot/movie set sort of tour, but I'm sure it'll end up being Frozen or something. It seems like they are balancing between what makes the park unique and using its space for things that would be better suited in other parks (same goes for putting Frozen all up in Norway, which in itself isn't so bad since they do the same in the Mexico area and a few other areas, but now it seems like they're getting more Frozen than Norway). Just hope Hollywood Studios can keep a diversity of movies and movie history.

Anything. Fast.

I'm completely on board with Pixar land or Star Wars land, I think either (or both) would be great additions. Whatever it is needs to happen sooner rather than later. I can't imagine anything starting until avatar land is done and then another 5+ years to build so we're talking a good 7 years. DHS can't survive the way it is for 7 years.
DHS needs a ton of work, but they just posted 2% growth over last year. To say it "can't survive" is just flat out ridiculous.

It will survive and probably grow.

I hate the way it is just as much as you, but there is still enough draw at the other parks and enough favorites to keep it coming for much longer than 7 years. They haven't gotten a meaningful update since 1994 (besides Toy Story) and it's been doing just fine.

After the dreadful last 3 Star Wars films (the prequels) I find it extremely surprising that people are still this interested in the franchise. Aren't there other things in the creative universe?

Despite the lower quality of the prequels they still did very well at the box office. Episode III was still the number one film domestically that year and brought in $848 million worldwide. Star Wars is till one of the most universally known franchises of all time and is still one of the top merchandising brands. The new animated TV series have also helped keep it a live for a new generation. There are other things in the "creative universe", but a new Star Wars movie is about as safe a bet as you can possible make in Hollywood.

I know you are trying to be funny, but since it didn't work, how about a serious reply to the thread?

IMO DHS needs 2 things desperately. 1) more high capacity attractions and 2) a more cohesive layout of the park. Word is they are going to incorporate a new main entrance to the parking lot, I believe from Victory Way (someone correct me if I'm worng). If so this would allow them to remove the existing entry road from World Drive and expand the park in that area. Hopefully what ever expansion we get (Star Wars, Pixar or whatever) will be big enough to provide hours upon hours of things to do at the park other than standing in queue lines or mindlessly walking around waiting for your FP time for HTH.

Dont quote me on this, might want to ask some of the other guys and gals on here but I believe it is space for a rumored Star Wars Expansion and a Pixar Expansion. Frozen is over in epcot.

I understand why they'd do that, but I guess my lack of interest in Star Wars is holding back my enthusiasm. Now, a Pixar area would be pretty cool and I'd definitely look forward to that. Though, I'd much rather have Star Wars (at least it's sci-fi and should have cool things to play around with and see) than Marvel (just can't get into the Marvel movies, if it were DC that would be a different story, especially with Batman vs. Superman and Suicide Squad coming up).

Kinda off topic, but I think it would be kinda cool to see them re-theme the Echo Lake area for the Star Wars land. Maybe do some sort of Dagobah swamp make over to the lake, complete with half submerged x-wing. Top it off by making it some sort of attraction or interactive. For example, have a evening show where Luke comes out and uses the force to raise it or something along those lines.

Ask anybody randomly on the street if they know Star wars, or Darth Vader. 98% of people would know. Its a smart move to continue to release star wars movies, I just hope we see some new indy movies in the future.

Exactly my point. It's a safe bet. It's not imaginative. They've had a Star Wars attraction there forever. Why all of a sudden now the need to expand? Give the franchise one attraction and move on. It doesn't need to be an empire within the park just because it's successful.

They should bring back more classic movies. I am opposed to Lucasland or whatever it's called. We already have Star Tours, it's been there forever. I wouldn't be against replacing it with a more modern thrill ride, but an entire land dedicated to George Lucas? Not feeling it. I' believe there's already a convention of some sort that exists for Lucas worship. I've always found Pixar to be aesthetically displeasing. Can't the Toy Story solely satisfy the need to represent Pixar in the park? How about some more timeless attractions, like, say, the Tower of Terror. Imagineers, think back to the old days of Hollywood...there is more to life than transient kid flicks. Bring some edge to the park. Hey, even the early Disney animated films were edgy.

Star Wars has been a huge part of popular culture for 37 years now, I would hardly call it "transient". It is as significant a part of Hollywood history as any movie you can find.

If by "imaginative" you mean building something not based on an existing IP, then like it or not, it's not likely to happen any time soon. The reason it now needs to expand is that, first Disney owns it now, and second it's going to be a major source of revenue for Disney for at least the next decade. I happen to love Star Wars, so more is good for me, but in general, if the attractions are well done I don't really care what franchise they are based on. I had very little interest in Cars, I had only seen the first one once on TV and haven't seen the second one, yet I feel Carsland is one of the best areas in any US Disney park.

The "transient" comment was targeted at kid flicks, not Star Wars. I'm just saying, with the entire history of Hollywood at their feet, surely there's more to explore than Star Wars, and once again, there already has been an attraction based on that franchise, so in a sense, they've done it already. I wouldn't be opposed to another attraction, but an entire land of Star Wars? After the 37 plus years of Star Wars madness, not to mention endless parodies, Spaceballs, conventions, STAR TOURS!...it hardly seems fresh at this point. Yes, I agree, it will be very profitable I'm sure, but it doesn't get my creative juices flowing at all. I'm just strange, I guess.

Universal has exclusive rights to most Marvel characters east of the Mississippi so you won't see much Marvel in DHS.

OK I may end up hi-jacking this thread...if that is true, how come Disney's buses with the Marvel livery have Ironman, Captain America, Thor as well as the new characters from the recent movie?
Just curious.

I think you are letting your dislike for the franchise bias you. I had the same reaction when Carsland was announced, I couldn't think of a Disney movie less deserving of an entire land, but I am so glad they did it.

While DHS does have a nice "feel" to the park it is sadly a little boring like EPCOT. I would love to see the imagineers at Disney announce a massive expansion to DHS.

Pixar Land - is a must and a very obvious choice since currently the most popular ride at the park is 'Toy Story Midway Mania'. A new addition would be necessary maybe a ride or show based on 'The Incredibles' or the new 'Inside Out'. I think it would be very clever to have WALL-E going around the land picking up trash and talking to guest similar to the garbage can in MK's Tommorowland.
Cars Land - I am fully aware that Cars is a film by Pixar however given that cars land at DCA is a huge success and a big expansion it would need its own "land" at DHS
Marvel Land - I sure hope this one happens! I am huge fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I really believe this would be the most popular land DHS even topping cars land. How about a Avengers themed ride as the main attraction in this land? Maybe an interactive area called Stark Industries Lab? An X-Men ride would be great too.
Star Wars Land - another obvious choice, after all Disney did pay 4 Billion for Lucas film and all things Star Wars and Star Tours is currently a popular ride at DHS. An interactive Jedi or Use the "Force" area where the environment changes or does something to a command similar the wand shop at the wizard ing world of Harry Potter.
Frozen Land - the worldwide phenomenon gets bigger with the announcement of Frozen 2. A frozen land would be a huge success and I think few would disagree. A few additions could be a frozen themed ride, sing along show, and a 'build a snowman' interactive play area with do you want to build a snowman song perhaps.
Hollywood Land - would consist of tower of terror, rockin roller coaster and any other ride disney green lights but doesn't fit the other themes.

All these lands would have their own meet and greet areas for the corresponding characters

It seems these lands would require far more land than DHS currently has so some of these probably wouldn't make the cut.

I think just adding two of these lands would cause attendance numbers to sky rocket placing DHS in the same place as Magic Kingdom attendance wise.

In Fact, why not just make a new park with all these lands... I also like Disney's Hollywood Adventure

I've always wanted to be a Disney Imagineer and work at the house of mouse.

According to a bus driver during my last stay a few weeks ago, Cars Land and Star Wars Land is happening...

Yes...a bus driver...LOL

It is true.

The exclusivity only applies to theme parks, the busses do not enter the parks. This is the reason the Avengers wrapped monorail never operated on the Epcot line.
