What scenes in GMR should be kept?

Why doesn't the GMR try display scenes from movies that all ages could enjoy. For example, how bout replacing the Alien scene with a scene from the classic comedy Ghostbusters? Just a thought...
won't universal have some kind of exclusivity deal on ghostbusters from columbia?

Ghostbusters has naughty language, so no. (Although it might be cost-effective since you could keep the Sigourney Weaver AA and just re-theme everything around it.)

What about Alice in Wonderland?

It's often touted as Disney's best work- ever.

lol, before going into that section they'll give you a small dosage of lsd so it makes sense to everyone XD
anyway, tim burton's new version of it is gonna be better than disney's, which combined both books into one so they could put that stupid tweedle dee tweedle dum thing in it.

Kept?

Everything except Tarzan.

Every other scene is a terrific tribute to the glory days of movies. When 75% of them that came out every year were great, not the 5%(and that's being generous) nowadays.

You can't tell me Marilyn Monroe wouldn't be a better opening than Ethel Merman. edit: oops, wrong credit. Not Ethel Merman . . . Joan Blondell? Ruby Keeler?

Well, you can tell me, but I'll never believe it. :ROFLOL:

Ghostbusters has naughty language, I'm not so sure about that. Last time I viewed ALIEN there were no less than 5-F words and 5-Religious Profanities. If anything, the ALIEN display should be removed on those grounds alone.

If I might quote directly from the Great Movie Ride cast member script,
Hello everyone and welcome to the Great Movie Ride. Once again, my name is *CMs Name* and I'll be taking you from this Hollywood soundstage right into the middle of the action of the greatest films ever made, all on one tour. But between you and me, this is no ordinary tour because the Great Movie Ride brings these movies to life, and puts you right in the middle of the action.

The purpose of the ride is to represent and re-create scenes from the greatest that film history has to offer.
Not just the films that are "family-friendly"
Not just the films that are making The Walt Disney Company money from DVD sales.
"The Greatest Films Ever Made."

Alien may not be to everyone's liking and it certainly isn't congruent with Disney's current pre-teen focus or indeed much of the rest of the ride, but it is recognized as "great film" I think it deserves as much acclaim as something like Singing in the Rain and film critics in general bear that out. If anything, it deserves a spot in the ride because it represents a genre and a sensibility that is lacking in most of the rest of the movies.

Also, if we start picking out all the movies that are inappropriate for children we're going to start loosing important parts of the ride very quickly. The Public Enemy is certainly not something I'd show to kids, nor are any of the movies in Clint Eastwood's Dollars trilogy. Casablanca, for that matter might not be objectionable per se, but if you think you could sit anyone under the age of 14 in front of that film and expect them to pay attention you're crazy. I should know; I've tried.

Basically what I'm saying is that when they were planning the Movie Ride the imagineers tried to pick out the films they thought were of particular artistic merit, have lasting appeal, and were generally representative of film history at large. To that effect I think they did a fantastic job and there isn't much that could be done to approve upon their selection.

In closing, I would remind everyone that the motto of Metro Goldwyn Mayer is ars gratia artis, "Art for art's sake." When you try to put together an attraction like this and ignore art, instead going for whatever is popular or whatever serves the "Disney cause" best, whatever that is, you end up with Superstar Limo, and I don't think any of us want that.

That's rediculous. Like SirGoofy said, its not like any of the bad language is repeated on the ride. :brick:

They DO, however, need to fix Ripley's hair and stance. Both are much too straight. And turn the pilot light on her flamethrower back on.

Wouldn't hurt to unzip a bit more of her jumpsuit either...

That Ripley facimile is my only real complaint about the current GMR.
It looks too phony. He face, in particular, looks like something from a bad, low budget, Rose Parade float.

The Imagineers can do a better job in making her look real.
IMHO

That made me laugh . As has been said, as long as they arn't effing and blinding there shouldn't be a problem. I find IASW offensive to all of my senses so i just don't ride it.

I have to agree here. If the Alien scene was retained, i think the only thing that would need to be redone.

Here is a shout for a film to be added...

The Shawshank Redemption.

You might be able to have some real fun with some Forrest Gump scenes. I would consider that one of the greatest movies made since the ride was debuted.

Disney is a family resort.

I'd have to say that it is an attraction clearly geared more towards the adult set, and if they don't drop the language in the ride, I don't see a problem with representing a film which has certinly become iconic and spawned more sequels than most can boast.

when only the 2nd movie is worth watching when almost everyone is dead and the other films you'd rather have an alien burst out of your chest than sit through one of the films. granted the new alien vs predator videogame may be good seeing as it's already banned in Australia due to the brutal kills you can do as the alien and the predator and hasn't even come out yet.
but yeah, it is a great film, just the sequels suck.
