What new retail and dining locations would you like to see added to DTD?

Sorry I'd much rather see original stores or smaller more ecletic stores and restaurants than your typical mall stores. I know the big name places will get more attention but if every mall has a Sephora or a Cheescake Factory then being at DTD, no matter how nice they make it, isn't that special. Just my 2 cents.
Agreed. This thread kinda makes me sad that people just want DTD to be another mall. I'd want originals, not chains.

(But if I was forced to pick a chain, I would love a Chipotle.)

In a perfect world we'd have original Disney owned and operated locations but I honestly don't have faith in the current leadership at WDW to do it right.

I can pretty much guarantee your not going to get much more in the way of Disney owned locations and shops as they expand and rethink -- they are specifically trying to increase shopping "mall-type" options for the locals, who use DTD as much as the resort-folks these days -- in fact, everything they are planning (new parking lots, shops, etc) are for the locals -- I would expect that you would see more upscale shopping options, especially on the WestSide...like the Apple Store, Coach, etc. Not really geared for the resort guests -- geared for the locals coming in to the restaurants and movie theater - things they would buy, not things tourists would buy.

An Apple store is a good idea. The one at the Millenia mall is always crowded and just such a pain. I once spent the better part of a day during a Disney trip locating the store and waiting for someone to fix my phone. It was irksome.

I really, really don't want to see it become mall-like, but I think an Apple store would be a plus.

I'm sure I'll be let down, but I want a lot of unique restaurants and shops. Since it will be geared for locals, I'd enjoy the new things continue to have the Disney feel. I don't think I'd go anywhere I have at home, though. I would LOVE a Brazilian Steakhouse though. Not because of tour groups, but I went to one in Myrtle Beach and it was so good! I think it was called Rios.
I'd also like a Greek Restaurant. I don't know any... We only have one here, and it's local. I need Greek food in WDW... lol.
Shop wise, I really don't care. I don't shop a lot, and I wouldn't buy anything in WDW that isn't Disney-related.

I agree with no ordinary restaurants/shops that you could find in a mall with a few exceptions.

Cheesecake Factory is amazing and since the closest one is Millenia, DS (Disney Springs) would be a good location for one.

A good BBQ restaurant would be great. I'd also like to see a good Sports Bar type place.

As far as stores, I'd like to see a Marvel Store and a Video Game Store.

I had an idea a while ago for a Marvel Megastore to replace Virgin at one point. Imagine a giant store filled with comics, collectables, a small cafe and a Bibbiti Bobbiti Boutique type place where you can become a super hero? Sounds like a slam dunk to me. Plus, the contract Marvel has with Universal specifically says theme parks, which Disney Springs is not.

A video game store would free up space in Once Upon a Toy and could have a much bigger selection of games. My suggestion would be to have it feature a whole section for demoing the latest E - T rated games on all the big consoles and theme the store to Tron and Wreck It Ralph. Gamestop could run the store, but it wouldn't be a typical Gamestop.

I think a good murder mystery dinner show would also be a nice addition.

I think it would be cool to see some sort of hobby shop. Of course with a high end Disney twist but I think one would do well there possibly with electronic gaming i.e. Sony Playstation games and such mingled in.

What design elements , new attractions, or stores/restaurants would you implement or acquire?

My 2 cents:
1. If I were in charge I would negotiate an American Girls store/ restaurant with an Exclusive Disney Doll and merchandise and unique experiences.(if you have a young girl you would understand what a cash cow this thing would be)
2. I would create on the west side a theatre district ala broadway and have all the Disney stage shows nightly (lion king, Mary Poppins, ect) and possibly some other traveling broadway musicals.

Your thoughts?

That Marvel megastore idea is Marvel-ous! ;) Especially the dress up part. I can see families flocking by the hundreds for reservations to let little Jimmy be Iron Man or Captain America! Converting the Virgin store however? I don't know. I don't think the store deserves two floors, but it would be a GREAT addition to DS. I don't know why Imagineering hasn't thought of a way to cash in on Marvel without going against Universal's contract!

Would love to see a sports grill/shop (i know that they have one at Uni but it would help keep us rednecks in the world ;) )
Also would love to see a cheesecake factory
As for all the PP who are complaining that they don't want it to be chain stores they can find at their local mall I just wonder what the percentage of American to international visitors is at WDW ? because of it is a much higher percentage of international visitors then it would make sense for Disney to have these stores on property rather than have the people leave the world to do their shopping
