I miss some of the old merchandise. They used to sell so many different globes and castles on Main Street. I got to pick one out every year when I was young.... I still have them and my little girls love looking at them and winding them up! The ones sold now just don't seem as well made. We also bought so many of the ceramic characters. I remember Mouse Gear selling a lot of them. Of course we bought the PVC ones as well. We have some classic Minnie, Mickey and Figment figures! I suppose those types of things just aren't popular anymore.

I also miss SpectroMagic, the skyway, older scripts on Wedway, Image works, and Mousekeeping.... when there was always a towel in the shape of something every night when we got back to our resort.

- I miss the 'Now Is The Time' version of Carousel of Progress

.

I think you need to rewatch that one...I love CoP with a passion, but, wow...that version is a sexist nightmare. My (very politically conservative) Fiancee was about ready to punch the dad after a trip on CoP. I showed her the old version and she just about flipped out.

The line "Now now mother...why don't you iron the wrinkles out of my shirt." has become a running joke in my house after she watched a video of it.

I noticed that a few weeks ago with the housekeeping...Used to get a cute surprise or arraignment of the Disney plush we had along or bought. We even made a special note to bring all the original Epcot plush we had for Epcots 35th...We had an original Figment and the entire Colander Combo from Kitchen Cabaret. Over eight nights there was nothing at CBR. The best that happened was they were placed on the shelf under the TV in a row.

I know its not really something that they need to do and shoulnt be expected, but it was one of those things that made staying at a Disney resort something special. The rooms were still clean and wonderful, but it was just a place to sleep...It didn't have that "one more bit of magic after a day in the parks" feel that the rooms always provided in the past.

Its a thing a new person would never notice, but a seasoned vet instantly noticed as a bit of magic that was gone.

A simple item. The butter at sit down venues. Various Mickey shapes from full blown Mickey's to silhouettes of Mickey's heads.

Oh I remember all the dialogue from it! LOL But I still love that version more just because of the song. Plus, my first few trips to DW were when that version was open so I have fonder memories of it than the current one. It's funny you mention that though because even back in 1992, 1993 as a teenager I thought the Dad's line "You just iron the wrinkles out of my shirt" was pretty degrading in tone. The dad definitely came off as being condescending and chauvinistic lol Unfortunately, that mentality was also the way things were at the turn of the century and still common even through the 1960's.

Same here...im old as well. Its a product of its time and its age and and dated conversations make it far more funny, if you have even a small sense of ironic humor.
