What is official policy on maximum guests to a Doom Buggy?

A number of times when my wife, son, daughter, and I have gone on HM, an "old biddy" cm has prevented us from all going in the same doom buggy. My daughter is a year and weighs about 20 lbs, she does not sit on the seat, rather my wife or I hold her. Our son is 3 and not overweight and neither are my wife or I. All of the other cast members let us go together, but this woman has stuck her arm in front of me as I tried to get on the ride with my son and prevented us from doing so. What gives?

It should be up to 3 people, depending on the weight size. Probably the CM was concerned about your daughter sitting on your lap, since the bar that holds you down might squeeze your daughter like crazy. How you ever manage to get four in a Doom Buggy is beyond me. I never see that occur every time I ride! IMO, perhaps she was doing her job right. :)

I can understand them not letting you on with your daughter on your lap. I'm 6'6" and when I'm not paying attention it gets my legs everytime, BANG!!! man that hurts something good, ruins the ride for me too because of the pain. But then it reminds me the next time I get on too. 25 days till our next visit.....6 days after the BLT opens.....CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!:sohappy::sohappy:

I can understand that if my daughter would be sitting on the seat even if some of us weren't there, but when we went when she was 2 months old, 6 months, and then when she had just turned one, the story was the same every time. I don't think anyone is going to tell me that putting a 2 month old or 4 month on the seat is a good or safe idea. And even though she's just over one now, she is still held even if it is just my wife and her or just me and her. I think the bar hitting her legs is a valid point, but all CMs should do it and not just this one woman.

Some CMs are truly sticklers. There's one woman who works at Snow White that won't let my daughters ride together. Typically, we put the three girls in the front row, and sit immediately behind them. They know how to "stack" themselves for rides like that, so the middle child (6) goes in first, then the 5yo, then the 9yo on the "open" end of the ride.

Anyway, this one CM never lets them ride together, and insists we're on the end. Whenever we see her, we just change the order, knowing it's easier to do so than try to explain how we always ride.

You have to save room for the hitch-hiking ghost. :lookaroun

Not very nice of you to call the cast member in question an "old biddy." She's just doing her job.

Maybe somebody is in the break room complaining about you trying to squeeze 4 people into a doom buggy - it isn't like they don't have a whole track of buggies one after another. . . at least they didn't call you out in a public forum.

I understand what you are saying...but the procedures are put in place for a reason. Need to be 42" to ride...well 41" is close....40" is not far from that....

There were rules in place for monorail operation....that were bypassed.
The fault is with the permissive ones...not the "biddy"

Not calling her an old biddy because she was enforcing the rules, I was calling her an old biddy because she is one. Since we all know paramount to Disney is customer service, there is a correct and incorrect way to deal with guests.

The way she dealt with the issue was incorrect. By sticking her arm out in between myself and my wife while on a moving walkway causes saftey problems in that my son and I had to walk backwards on said walkway trying to get into a doom buggy that was not already occupied by the masses that came after us (if you've ever been on HM, you know that people get on the cars quickly). Additionally the statement that "you can't have 4 people" could have easily been addressed in a different manner.

It would have been very easy for the cm to say "I'm sorry sir but only 2-3 people per car" and then make sure the car after my wife was still open so my son and I could ride in it. Problem solved, no hard feelings.

As for those who says she's just doing her job, she's not because she's not providing good customer service and a pleasant experience for the guest. She is a biddy plain and simple.
