A very productive week!

Sat - 6 miles easy + strides
Sun - Tempo, 6x 400m @ 5k pace and 4x 200m @ Daniels R, about 7 miles total with warm up and cool down
Mon - 5 miles easy
Tues - 3.75 miles easy + strides
Wed - Block run (5 minutes at 6 progressively faster paces), about 6 miles total
Thurs - 3.5 miles easy

And with tomorrow a rest day, I will wrap my 2021 with 992 miles of running! Onto 7.5 miles and 12 miles on Sat and Sun, respectively. Lots of rain in the forecast both days... ugh.

Never 2 without 3 … couldn’t finish 2021 with a run and start 2022 without one, so despite only 3.5 hours of sleep, I forced myself out the door this afternoon for another 2 mile run. Technically my slowest BUT it was only 20 seconds slower than Thursday’s run, and more than 3 minutes were spent waiting for lights (Thursday’s run had only one light that turned green 10 seconds after I got to it) and finished on an uphill (which is steeper uphill than the downhill portion because it is a loop and not an out and back). 😃

Trying to get myself back into a training rhythm so have been going with more frequent but shorter runs. Followed a couch to 5K training this morning so that I would have intervals loaded on my watch - so 8 sprints with recovery walks in between. In the end the distance was about what I’ve been running the past few days, but I overall it took about 2 mins more.

After last week’s virtual marathon weekend. I took the rest of the week off, I figured I earned it. This week is a well deserved cool down week.

Doing short run/walks on the treadmill at reduced speeds. This is technically the last week in my virtual marathon weekend training.

Next week, I officially start my Springtime Surprise training. Since I moved around the dates for virtual marathon weekend, I am joining the Springtime Surprise training program at week 7, which will become my week 1. My group has already been using that plan to train, I’ll be linking up with them in terms of training.

Next week is actually a rest week with a 3 mile run at the end. I’ll probably just bump it up to a 4 mile run to keep myself semi trained. Maybe even a little more then that.

The week after that the serious training for Springtime Surprise begins. With an 8 mile run. I will ride this training program all the way to Springtime Surprise.

Their will however be one virtual race in between, as I am running the princess half virtually. It links up with my training fairly well, I just have to add 2.1 miles to my existing 11. Should be a good way to redeem myself after virtual marathon weekend’s half.

Then it will be on to Disney for the Springtime Surprise challenge. We were toying with the idea of changing our flights and rolling it back to the night before. Due to my group probably not being able to work that in their schedule, for now we are leaving everything as is in terms of flights. This means we are scheduled to arrive at 12:30 (ish) the day of the expo and everest 5K. It’s far from ideal but barring any delays (fingers crossed) we should have enough time to make it work. If it becomes a problem we will try to adjust. For the time being though we should be able to make it work.

I ran my first Daniels T-pace run today, 7 intervals at about 8:34/mile with rest in between. That kicked my butt, one of the tougher runs I've done in a while. I'll round out this week with 4 easy miles tomorrow, rest Friday, then 8.5 easy miles Saturday.

Then it's onto Sunday, calling for snow, and I'm running 13 (!) miles - 12 at a long run pace, and the final mile at M tempo.

I finally seemed to be able to break 2 miles and ran my first 5K of 2022 (and my first since sometime in November!). My Garmin gave me a “Frosty” badge because it was below freezing; this really surprised me because I thought it was a perfect temperature for running this evening.

Somewhere between 2.5 and 3 miles. Went for a group training and planned on getting off at a certain bus stop but my friends texted to say they were meeting further up in the park. So got off a stop early, went to where they said and looked at my phone and saw that the meeting spot for the group was wrong and it was back down near where we had planned to meet. So then I ran down to the bus stop I had originally planned on getting off 🤦🏼‍♀️. (I only put my watch on for the group run)
