What are you most excited about from D23 2017?

This sounds fantastic. And if it was 1988, I think we'd have a shot at this type of idea happening. 2017 though, no chance they add a new attraction like that independent of a ready made IP. So, knowing the Disney "world" we live in now, I am just happy they got close. Rat may not be a perfect fit, but it's as close as we are likely to get.
As annoying as IP can be, it is probably more than just a synergy. My guess is that having IP connection helps them marketing the new ride as well. And explain to guests what it is about. In the age of instant gratification it's easier to say "well, it's a Ratatouille ride" than having to explain it.

I'm excited about Star Wars Land obviously, Ratatouille, the Guardians coaster, Space Food Fare, Main Street Theatre, Hotel Star Wars, and the Minnie Vans (yes, really!).

There are a few things I'm pretty dubious about. A lacklustre Tron coaster isn't the 50th birthday present MK deserves. M&MRR (you better get used to that acronym) looks fantastic but, you know. Riviera...meh.

I'm cautiously optimistic about New Epcot, as long as there are lessons learned from WDI's sad attempts at central hubs lately.

Overall I finally have things to look forward to in Disney World. I just hope that IP fatigue will set in within the next few years, and that they don't destroy everything "old" in the meantime.

I am truly excited for all the park additions, but I am mostly excited for the Riviera Resort. I love to stay at new places and the restaurant sounds awesome.

For parks yes, but every Princess is getting a cameo in the new Wreck it Ralph film....

Sorry yes, I meant the choices in this thread.

Between Marvel and Star Wars Days at Sea on DCL, and these new additions to the parks.. Disney is adding great things for people outside of their princess demographic.
I think it got a little too princess heavy in recent years.

I know it's a common opinion that things got too Princess-centric over recent years, but I honestly don't see it. Other than in Fantasyland/NFL, but that makes sense they would be there

Oh well. I guess now I can start complaining that things are getting too superhero/action-movie-centric ;)

Yes, exactly that! I remember how every wailed like a stuck pig when NFL was announced, saying it was all for little girls (never mind that MK already had Adventureland, Frontierland and Tomorrowland). So equal time was accomplished by swapping in 7DMT. Where's the equal time here? I feel like all of this is like a walk through the boys' toy aisle at Target.

I'm excited it about it all.. WDW needs new life.. this is it. Sure I would have like a few things different or in different places but overall I'm happy. I will say, the Mickey ride looks disappointing to me, but it could be great. I just don't understand the concept that well plus it looks too cartoonish. I'm sure it will be great, I just need a better undrestanding of the concept and ride system.

I don't know but if I want this much superheroes and action movies, I'll go to Universal where I don't have to deal with Fastpass+!

I'm excited for all the new announcements BEST D23 EVER but if I had to pick just one (which is tough) I'll say the Mickey & Minnie Runaway Railway. Tron Lightcycle looks amazing, Ratatouille Ride is going to be lots of fun, would like more info on Guardians of the Galaxy before judgingbut the mickey ride sounds epic :)

Frankly, most of yesterday's announcements were bittersweet. The boards seem to be overrun with negativity because every attraction has its pluses and minuses. Disney's Riviera Resort looks like a generic high-rise. The gondolas are needed but not air conditioned. The Mickey ride is coming but is also a badly animated commercial for the new cartoons instead of a zany ride through almost 100 years of the Mouse. Epcot is getting two new attractions lazily based on IPs instead of grandly returning to the park's groundbreaking, visionary purpose established over thirty years ago. Star Wars Galaxy's Edge will be impressive but is only two rides. Toy Story looks cheaper than anyone imagined. The Minnie Vans are directly competing with Uber and don't solve the overall problems with existing transportation. Tron is needed but very short, and the MK theater is basically a big box, and BOTH risk destroying the MK sightlines.

Even the POTC panel appealed to the overused "DL is not a museum" quote the company shrieks every time WDI makes a bad decision, and they're using Walt's words completely out of context.

The combination of excitement and complaints could go on and on.

But you know what? All things considered, this is great news for upcoming attractions that haven't been value engineered to death. If they work, they'll stay; if they don't, they'll be replaced. I'm excited about Tron and can't wait to glide on the gondolas.

Star Wars Resort only because I personally had no idea this was coming. And while I'm not a huge Star Wars fan I am excited about other future 360 resort concepts.

Mickey ride is cool. Excited about the other transportation alternatives way more than I should be. No interest in Tron whatsoever but more rides are always welcomed. Ratatouille ride is all well and good too but not exactly new news. Alway love new resort info so Riviera Resort is of interest.

I agree with much of this. Lots of head scratching choices. However it seems they could be laying the groundwork for much bigger plans. We'll see.

I think Disney as a whole has become more "girly" over the past several years.. compared to my childhood especially.
Felt like back then it was a lot more neutral.

But I can see both of your points.. this stuff is traditionally more in the "boy" category.. but I still feel it's needed.. and plus, with Jyn and Rey, there's a lot more little girl SW fans now.

That's a good point. Neutral is good. Very good. I mean, that was Walt's whole point right? Rides that families could ride and enjoy together. I'm not sure a lot of this new stuff would qualify as that anymore.

I have to confess I am a little overwhelmed by the number of announcements and the magnitude of the changes. I so far never experienced such a massive barrage of announcements by DISNEY at any time. This is partially at least what we hoped for for a long time. Although not every anouncement thrills me, at least a LOT is happening and it is overwhelming (perhaps bcs. we were expecting not much). I will write more later...

People may not like Bob Iger, but you can't deny he has really stepped it up with the Parks. This period may be Disney's strongest ever when it comes to new additions.
However, if you think parks are connected now, wait until more onsite lodging comes comes online. Either further "enhancements" to surge pricing will need to be made, expansion of existing parks areas, fifth gate, or island strategy will be required.

Cramming more people into the same footprint is a declining growth strategy.

The spline overhaul for Future World is hands down my top pick. For me, placemaking aside, I'm looking forward to Guardians of The Galaxy the most. Everything considered (*cough cough* location *cough cough*), hands down Tron. Ratatouille will also be a great addition to the park as everyone can ride it. The Skyliner is also very exciting. The Star Wars Resort, is very cool, but it is a rare experience. The new cruise ship is really cool too. I'm overall very pleased with the tremendous amount of announcements, but it is bittersweet.

Oddly enough, I'm most hyped for Ratatouille
I've ridden it, and you won't be disappointed. It is a true screen ride though, but the animation is top notch. Unlike most, I am actually fine with properly placed IPs in World Showcase as long as they also add non-IP rides (which sadly seems unlikely:cry:). It's also an addition, like Tron.
