Don't know if anyone would be interested in doing this or not. I am always looking for new music (or new old music) to purchase. I like to get recommendations from others to try out new stuff.

I was thinking if everyone (who wants to join in) lists the last 5 albums they purchased and give a 1 to 5 star rating on it and give what the genre is it might give some of us something to go check out. I would still think you should then go listen to a sample on iTunes before purchasing but it would point you in the right direction.

Wanna play?

My 5 latest album purchases are:

The Postal Service - Such Great Heights - EP . Genre is listed as Alternative . 4 stars
Audible - Sky Signal . Genre is listed as Rock . 4 stars
Air - Moon Safari . Genre is listed as Electronic . 4 stars
The Kills - Run Home Slow . Genre is listed as Rock . 4 & 1/2 stars
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - Clap Your Hands Say Yeah . Genre is listed as Alternative . 5 stars

What have you purchased?

Hmmm

Ying Yang Twins - United States of Atlanta - The kings of dumb rap actually produce a good album. About 7 or 8 really solid tracks on there and that is rare for southern rap that is based so much on pumping out singles with little emphasis on albums. 4 1/2

Kanye West - Late Registration - Simply the best album of the year. It's not even close. Every single song is good here and you can listen to it over and over without getting tired of it. Roses is my favorite track. 5

Korn - See You On The Other Side - Another excellent album that sort of goes in a different direction for Korn. A little more electronic sounding with staying true to their sound. Twisted Transistor and Open Up are my favorite tracks. 4 1/2

Memphis Bleek - 534 - A few good tracks on here, though it's not Bleek's best. Dear Summer by Jay Z is easily the best track, but Like That and Smoke the Pain Away are also solid. 3 1/2

Limp Bizkit - The Unquestionable Truth Part 1 - Probably my favorite Bizkit album and they are my favorite band. I wish this wasn't an EP, but most CD's do not have 7 fantastic songs on them and this one does. This disc goes back to the Three Dollar Bill Ya'll days and is pure metal. Not death metal or speed metal, but just plain old regular heavy metal and that's the only kind for me. 5

Nickelback-All the Right Reasons- excellent music, everysong is good or great. The opening track ROCKS! I hope they open with this when Biloxi is able to have a concert again. We have already said we are taking our 11 year old to see Nickelback. This is what I like in a CD. I hate spending $13+ and find only one or two good songs.
Prom Kings-this is my husband's purchase. It was OK.

Gotta come back and edit this when I remember the rest.

If you don't have Air's other albums, do yourself a favour and get them. I love Air.

Let me try to remember the last albums I've bought...

01) Jimmy Buffett - Live at Fenway Park [rock, country, island]
02) Zero 7 - When It Falls [electronic, kinda like Air]
03) Gordon Lightfoot - Songbook (Boxset) [country, pop]

I don't remember any others. I've acquired a lot of Modest Mouse from my boyfriend. Downloaded a lot of Iron & Wine and Johnny Cash lately as well. And the Sound Tribe Sector 9 - Artifact remixes. I don't know if that's something you can actually buy or not. You'd probably like STS9 if you like Air and Zero 7. Try out Lotus as well. They're more trance techno electronic, so a lot livelier than Air and Zero 7, but in the same family.

1.) Patrick Doyle (Composer)-"Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire": Magical, Suspenseful, Delightful.
2.) Carrie Underwood-"Some Hearts": An excellent debut album by the reigning American Idol.
3.) George Strait-"Somewhere Down In Texas": A good album but not his best, but far from his worst. Many good "Country" songs.
4.) Dierks Bentley-"Modern Day Drifter": Simply awesome.
5.) Walt Disney World Official Album HCoE: Contains some good songs but too much filler.

I don't buy CDs like I used to - not much around today that grabs my attention. Or if I find a good track, the rest of the album pales by comparison.

Most recent purchase would have been one of the Brian Setzer Orchestra CDs - fab upbeat music :D

I haven't bought an album in years. Itunes is the way to go. The first one I willl buy in a while though will be a momentary lapse of reason by Pink Floyd to get around the stupid ''album only'' button on Itunes.

I recently purchased "700 Years of Classical Treasures". It includes 8 CD's with all the great works from the middle ages up to the modern era. I like it.

Thanks all, I will be checking out some of these. Some I already in my iTunes shopping cart so it is good to see responses on those.

Just to clarify, it does not need to be a hard copy CD it can be iTunes (that is what I buy as well. Album is still the term though used for them there as well. :)

Thanks again and hopefully others will get some new stuff out of this as well.
