We were told the garage had to be open for the holiday season 2014 thus the quick pour schedule. Again what we were told at the pre-pour meeting.

What's the cure time schedule look like? I know this thing has to sit for 60-90 days (after the pour before it's cured enough to be safe to extensively load. I have to imagine the bottom 2 levels at least could potentially be opened if everything else (stairs elevators exc. was ready to go.

The point i'm trying to make is the structure doesn't have to be complete to be open.

Also since you seem to be aware of what's going on on the parking garage. Are the large rolls of blue pipe seen in a few photos the pretensioned cable reinforcement or are they something else?

You can see the rolls on the far left of the photo by the fresh pour and there seems to be more rolls of it on top of the finished deck.

What do you mean the last 5 decks still need to be poured? I thought the garage-buildkng was done and they're just working on the insides.

The two outer sections appear to be almost complete, but the middle section still doesn't have all the decks complete. I am not sure where the 5 decks comes from, the middle section still needs it's third deck complete, and will get a 4th. Not sure where the other three are.

Then why are they saying "early 2015" on the maps?

Maybe early 2015 means completely finished including the on-ramp from the highway and all of the landscaping and decorations. They could open the garage at Thanksgiving but still be working on the other things.

You're right. Never noticed that.....thanks!

waht i would say when he said decks, he meant deck SECTIONS. there was one section of floor 4 incomplete and 4 sections of deck level 5 to work on at that point.

seems silly to me that they appear to be leaving stub columns on the roof for a potential additional deck in the future. rather than simply building it now which would be cheaper and easier

as it seems like it would be impossible/super inconvenient to everyone to shut down the entire garage to add an additional deck in the future, along with the risks that would have that could contribute to a collapse as there have been several parking garages that have collapsed during construction.

I believe the posts you are referring to are for the light poles that will be on top of the roof. If you don't put them on a concrete base, they are too easily damaged by cars and trucks running into them. Surprisingly, put them on a concrete base, and they last much longer!

As has been discussed earlier, there are far to many of those columns for them to just be for lights. You don't need that many light poles on a parking garage.
