we're not staying there.....

I've seen a few threads that ask about your favorite hotel/property but I started wondering about something a little different. Not the opposite like I've stayed there and hated it but is there a hotel/property you know you will never stay in?

And I'm not talking about people who don't stay on property because it's "too expensive" just a place you simply will not stay in.

For us, I don't believe we'll ever stay at the Coronado Springs, first because it's so big and sprawling. We've also eaten there and although the theming was great it just didn't strike me as a place we "have" to stay in.

Although if we ever won a free trip and the only place we were allowed to stay was the CSR then we'd absolutely be staying there and loving every second of it!!

I get what you are saying, there are just some of the resorts that I have no interest in staying at just because personnally they hold no appeal for me. For me, it would be the GF. We have visited at Christmas to see the Gingerbread house and decorations but it is just feels too stuffy to us. Again, like you if I were to win a free stay there I wouldn't turn it down:lol:

I wouldn't mind staying in a Value resort for just a night, but don't think I'd ever want to spend my entire trip there. My family spends some time enoying the amenities of the resorts where we stay. The lack of them at the Values, plus the lack of a sit-down restaurant and of course the size of the rooms, would be a turnoff for me for longer than an overnight stay at the beginning or end of a trip. Maybe id'feel differently if I were traveling solo, had the room to myself, needed to keep costs down, etc. But even 2 people, I think the rooms are too claustrophobic and the beds too small.

Out of the moderates, the Caribbean has no appeal for me.

Unless the Poly ever gets a DVC wing, I'm not sure I could ever afford a stay there. But if I could, I would.

It's a loose goal of mine to eventually stay in every DVC resort on property. So far we've done SSR, BWV and VWL, with BLT next on the list. Also stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge before it became a DVC resort.

We visited the Poly over Christmas and had dinner at Ohana. I think it has one of the best lobbies in all of WDW. But other than that the place felt very dated. As I walked on the property I felt like I was in a retirement home. The hallways smelled like that as well.

For what it costs I just wouldn't be pleased.

Not sure for sure but never is Sports All Stars I do not like sports but of course they gave it to me I surely would.

Contemporary.. It is the ugliest hotel. I do not like Chrome modern seems like you couldn't even sit on the beds. Just not homey

Grand Floridian Its too victorian and victorian went out many many years ago

Personally, probably the Yacht Club. I'm from New England so the whole New England seaside town doesn't appeal to me. We've eaten there for breakfast once and it just doesn't do it for me. The Beach club is a little bit more appealing but not by much.

I will not stay at a "value" resort again. I think the name of that category is very misleading considering that much nicer accommodations can be found just off-site in the same price range.

I also would not stay at Saratoga Springs again unless I were renting a car. Worst bus service of any resort IMHO.

Coronado. Themeing does nothing for me. If it was part of a vacation package that I won, ok.

Saratoga. way way way too big. From what I've heard/read, when it's easier to drive to the main building from some locations thats a bit much.

Grand Floridian. $$$$

All Star resorts, just does nothing for me. Stayed at POP, it was ok, just not that into it. Same with the new Art n Animation, overpriced for a family of five, extra 800 gets us deluxe on monorail! And thats for six nights.

The Poly is just not for us. We really didn't enjoy our stay there.
The Values simply because we've grown from just park commandos to whole vacation experiences. The Values don't offer a lot in the way of amenities.

Of course, I'd never turn down a free stay at either a Value or the Poly.

Only one. I will never, ever stay at Saratoga Springs, despite it being my home resort in the DVC, unless nothing else on property was available. The place feels like a "community for active seniors." Didn't like it at all. I felt like there should have been plastic over the sofas in the lobby. The whole place felt dead.

Other than that, I'd be open to staying at any of the resorts. I definitely have favorites in each category (BW, CSR, Pop), but wouldn't necessarily be opposed to any of the other resorts.

Never, never, never going back to Port Orleans. Riverside Or French Quarter. Multiple problems and issues that didn't get resolved and we were lied to several times. We have stayed elsewhere on property and so it will be fewer trips so we can afford the Boardwalk.

For me it's the Yacht or Beach Club.
They're both nice. But I'm a Boardwalk guy.

I know people like Stormalong Bay.
However I'm more apt to go for a "Big Pool Experience" when I'm in Hawaii or some other tropical place. (for example: Aulani this June):sohappy:

Don't get me wrong, staying at any Boardwalk Resort is fantastic, but why not just stay at the best Resort on all of WDW property, BOARDWALK.

Of course, that's just my opinion.
If I was staying at the Y or B Club......I think I'd just be wishing to be "across the lake".

Totally agree. The GF was really stuffy. Have no intention of spending that much money for a place just to sleep.

I wouldn't do the Poly again. I always dreamed of staying there but it was always too costly. We had previously always stayed at Wilderness Lodge because it was a deluxe but much cheaper than the others and I love the boat ride to the MK. Finally Summer of 2010 we got a good deal (not great, but not as expensive) and we went. I still love the Lobby and the pool was beautiful, but overall, it's just not worth the cost. It's very spread out and the long house hallways reminded me of the cheap seaside motels at the Jersey shore. The rooms were large and everything was super clean, but for the price, I wouldn't do it again. Unless of course it was free or the cheapest deluxe. :)
