Well, Universal may think WDW announcements are pending...

Hmmm, their property and all, I do think Disney can force a site to move the plans though...

Care to elaborate? If it is released by an anonymous leak and then enters the public conversation there really are no grounds for stopping that discussion. At least not in the United States. At least not for the time being.

I'm pretty sure the First Amendment doesn't apply in that situation AT ALL...

Of course it does. Especially in a setting such as this.

Please, please, please explain to me how a law limiting the power of the Federal Government has anything to do with what Disney can ask an internet forum to do.

It does not just concern limiting the power of gov't. I never said they couldn't request a site take down or stop a discussion about any specific topic. They just can't demand it. They can fire any employees leaking or involved in publicly discussing propritary company information but they have no such authority over the general public. That would be fascism.

Exactly.

And yet DCA's Extreme Makeover with a budget widely reported in major media to be over 1 Billion dollars sets a standard for what it takes to improve a weak theme park. If Universal were spending 1 Billion on improving and expanding IOA, then I could see WDW worry a bit.

But from what I've been able to dig up, this Wizarding World thing is a small expansion area and connected retheme of existing facilities, with one new ride added; the robocoaster themed thrill ride.

I'm sure it will be fun, don't get me wrong. But I don't see how a $200 Million expansion is going to radically alter established visitation patterns at the WDW parks.

I take it you wont be vsiting this abomination when it opens then?

As for vistors, Disneys marketing is doing a great job in convincing Floridas largest foreign visitors group that its attractions are aimed at families with kids in the sub 10 bracket. Thats probably more of a danger than any new attraction than any new Universal ride, cause once people have been many report (and not just on fan sites) that its more fun than Disney and better value.

And you cant say Disney isnt worried by compitition in Orlando, otherwise it wouldnt be going to such lengths to keep you on site. Though on reflection maybe PI is an indication that they really only dpo want young families.

I don't know where the $200 Million figure for the HP Expansion came from, It was reported as $500 Million when the plans were first revealed, which I thought was a bit much.

That he does.

But like I said, if WDW gets shut out at D23, I will be apologizing to 74 and Cbomb etc. and exiling myself from this site. So look on the bright side, you won't have to deal with me anymore.

It is their property jt... They can force anyone to take it down if they so desire... Try opening a site using their characters and images and names without permission.. See how far that gets you.. legal will be on you in 10 minutes, if not sooner...

They were blue prints which were still owned by Disney.... makes no difference.. They are Disney property and Disney CAN demand their removal...

If someone was using copyrighted content for gain, you are right. But displaying it as part of a public forum/discussion after it's been leaked or released is a different story.

It is a companies responsibility to hire trustworthy employees. If one of them leaks or a leak occurs due to negligence, and that information enters the public discussion, there is nothing they can do about it other than request the information not be discussed.

Freedom. :)

Yes, you most certainly are.

I love the Bill of Rights.

Dude, check it again... Trust me... I did study copryright law in school... You cannot freely use intellectual material without permission... Just because someone leaked blue prints does not give these sites the right to publish them.... They are still protected and Disney has every legal right to force a site to remove them...

Think about it like this... You go record a CD... Someone at the studio released the songs to a website... That record company has every right to legally force the site to remove the recorded tracks... They cannot stop people from talking about it, but they can stop the site from posting the recordings..

Disney CAN legally force sites to remove things images if they so choose...

And as for your Bill of Rights: Try yelling fire inside a crowed movie theater.. Technically, you can.. But explain to the arresting officers that you have First Amendment rights to yell fire whenever you please...

I have a better idea. Let's stick to an apples/apples, oranges/oranges discussion.
