With the success and future expansion of Pixar Place/Studios on the other side of the park, I believe it is finally time to finish what was originally planned for the Muppet area of DHS. The Muppets are slowly, yet steadily gaining a new audience, and with a new movie on the horizon, what better time than now?
First an aesthetic journey into Muppet Studios.
As you exit Star Tours after helping the New Republic destroy the third Death Star, you turn left, and head towards what can only be called the shoddiest looking sign you have ever seen. It spans over the walkway, obviously held together by bubble gum, duct tap, and what looks like some mashed potatoes. The sign reads Muppet Studios, and is built mainly from pipes. The guard station at the from of the Muppets' area emanates a loud snoring noise, and every once in a while the bear security guard can be heard talking in his sleep.
Directly in front of you as you pass through the arc way is the same Muppet Fountain that has always been there, and you can here the famous Muppet theme song playing softly in the background. To the right, you see where those zany Muppets got the pipes, at a brand new water feature. Seems that they just dug up the pipes from below the streets, and now the remaining lines are spraying water everywhere.
Next is Muppet Vision 3-D, unchanged in the new land. Walking past the 3-D theater, the Muppet shop is to our left, and in front of us is the brand, spankin' new Muppet Dinner Theater. Inside, the Swedish Chef prepares delicious meals, while audio animatronic Muppets perform some of the greatest sketches from The Muppet Show.
Next, we walk through what seems to be a Muppet residential area. Up in the apartments above, we can hear Stratler and Waldorf heckling passers by, Fozzie practicing his jokes, and Piggy swooning over Kermit. On street level we find a group of snowmen, that hide a secret inside, and Lew Zealand's fish market, where it seems the fish come alive.
After passing through Muppet Alley, we find ourselves staring at Muppet Labs. Smoke billows out of odd places, flashes of light illuminate windows, we can faintly hear Beaker's screams come from the inside, and it seems that something BIG is going on at Muppet Labs.
Well there you have it. What do you guys think? More to come later.
