Just stopped in for a second...

I got the job I interviewed for!!!! :sohappy::D:sohappy::D:sohappy: Work is MUCH better (and 40 not 60 hours a week), pay is the same ( unexpected) and the benefits are better.

I have to turn in my 2 weeks notice today though before I leave. As excited as I am...I'm a little nervous about it. :o
Congratulations Samie! Great news!

Hey, Bun, how old was Anastasia the 1st time you flew w/ her? And did you buy her a seat or just keep her on your lap? We didn't buy a seat for Asher for our trip next month but now are wondering if we should. People keep telling us how dangerous it is to not have him in a safety seat on board

5 months old. :dazzle: yeah. Then again at 13 months, 18 months and so on...

We just kept her on our laps for the first flight, since it was full, and the flight prices are sooo $$$. Really, since you're all screwed anyways if something happens to the plane, I didn't worry too much. Anyways, I'm glad we did, since she wouldn't have liked to be strapped down at that age. She felt much safer in my arms.

however you should be aware -on our later flights, we didn't buy a seat for her, but she got one anyways, since the flight wasn't full. So bring your carseat to the gate with you just in case. Ask at the counter if it's full. If it IS, then you can gate check your carseat (and stroller too) so it's no big deal.

This past trip was the first time she was a paying customer.

Also, if people are whining about you not being able to hold onto him if there's bad turbulence, just bring a Bjorn or Snugli with you. You're seatbelted in, and he's strapped to you. Voila! Secure baby.

Although, I've never been in bad enough turbulence that I couldn't hold on to something.

Thanks, Bun. The Bjorn is a good idea, we'll take that. We're flying Southwest (solely so we don't have to pay $100 each way for all our bags) so don't have our seats assigned. Someone said they don't let passengers w/ infants board first anymore so hopefully that's wrong. One of my friends suggested me sit by the window & DH sit on the aisle (w/ the middle seat empty) holding Asher. She said if the flight's not full it'll be the last seat to fill since most people wouldn't want to sit next to a baby

Yeah, having trouble getting on it tonight.
I think all of FB is having troubles

They let families board between A and B boarding groups. If you get an A, just get seats like you normally would. If you get B or C, then line up to go when they call family boarding. If you've got a lap baby, they don't care where you sit, but if you do snag a seat for him, then he has to be buckled up in his carseat in a window seat. It's regulation so nobody trips over the carseat in an emergency.

Just ask the person checking you in if it's a full flight. They've always told us if it's full or how many seats are left so you can use your own judgement. If there's even a few empty seats, go ahead and take them! just tell the flight attendants that he was a lap baby, so their count of passengers doesn't get thrown off.

Good tips, thanks!

I think I had one of the best nights of my life. First public performance of Urinetown, everything went great in the show and the audience was amazingly attuned to all the innuendos and subtle humor AND a very decent size for what we were expecting, especially on a Friday evening. Plus all my friends came within 5 minutes of starting the show and I had no idea that they were all there taking up the first row until my opening lines.
