Danica Patrick got so screwed today.

I figure the camero's target is to be comparable and competitive to a mustang...
the challenger is targeting the guys wanting to relive the 70s kings of the roads. No need to make it smaller.
Gary...
Have you heard anything on these? I'm very interested.

Yep. I'm on an e-mail list for my local dealer (closest one is roughly 45 minutes from here, so not real close) and I was planning to try to test-drive one. They had an event last year, but I missed that one and never heard about another one. So I haven't even seen one in person yet, but I have been reading up on them.
Reasonably priced ($15,000) and decent performance. Much better performance than nearly any car out there in terms of acceleration, but not as good as the faster true motorcycles.
The engine is basically the same one used by Aprilia (Rotax - BRP makes the Aprilia engine and also the new Buell engine as well as a couple for BMW), but it must be detuned some because the horsepower numbers (106) I remember hearing were a good bit lower than what Aprilia quotes. I suspect that Aprilia owns the engine rights and would only let BRP use it for the Can-Am if they promised to de-tune it (Aprilia is developing their own engine, so the rights might revert back to BRP Rotax in the not-too-distant future).
Compared to most cars, the Spyder has great performance for a great price.
. . . the problem is, for $15,000, there are also a lot of great motorcycles that would blow the Spyder away, and with the Spyder, you'd still need to wear a helmet (in Jersey at least) and you'd still be exposed to the elements the same as on a motorcycle.
But I'd also say this is the most reasonable, well-sorted and real of the various three-wheelers that have been popping up.
. . . so while I've toyed with the idea of looking more into the Spyder, I've never really gotten past the idea: "Why haul an extra wheel around with you?"
See, for me it seems perfect. I love motorcycles but something has always terrified me about them. I've driven my neighbor's Ninja before and was fine on it...but the thought of someone swerving in front of me or slamming the brakes on has always scared the crapola out of me. This seems like it gives you the open airness that a motorcycle gives you, it's the same seating (unlike the T-Rex), and, aside from the non-leaning aspect, it has the same steering (ala handlebar vs. steering wheel).
Makes sense. If motorcycles didn't exist, this would be the coolest thing going. Makes a Lotus Exige seem like a pig.
. . . just be careful of that slippery slope. Once you get one of those, it won't be long before you'll be wanting one of these:

Ducati should make one
Or...like the 4-door Porsche...is having reverse on a Ducati blasphemous?
why in the world would you want to drive a snowmobile on the road?
The trikes look bad enough... if you got one of these your Z car history would be striken from the records as we could never associate with your type
You don't sit relaxed like a cruiser... you don't get the benefits of sitting forward like on a sports bike. You get the worst of both worlds!
Sorry - but those things look horrible to me.
On a better note.. Challengers have been delivered. Jay Leno had his at work.
(To be honest, I'd really prefer a T-Rex or Ariel Atom but that's a tad expensive for just a "toy.") $40,000 can't be justified...but $15,000 could be.
