Personally, I'm waiting for a WDW brothel, and a WDW drive through wedding chapel
I think that is an unfair statement. Just because you have a casino doesn't mean a brothel will be raised right next to it. Everybody knows that Vegas is a very liberal city, which is why so many establishments tend to be outside the normal trend of the rest of the united states. Casinos are not responsible for the establishments in the city, the city is.

Sorry, I didn't know that you were intending it to be a joke. I thought you were being serious.

People actually automaticlly think brothel and elivis chapel stop when they think of casinos. It would be correct to think that when you think of Vegas as a tourist destinations, but not as casinos in general.

The amendment you are speaking of did not legalize slot machines in FL it merely allowed the stat to tax the existing slot machines already on Indian reservations. The tax money is supposed to add to the public schools budget. They have tried to legalize gambling in FL for years but the bills always fail to pass.
No the amendment I am speaking of is a bill to allow slot machines to be placed in the current dog tracks, horse tracks, and jai-ali stadiums in Miam-Dade counties.

The Associated Press said:
Amendment 4, which won passage by a margin of almost 51% of the 7 million plus votes cast, changes the state constitution to let voters in Broward and Miami-Dade counties decide whether to allow slots at seven South Florida race tracks and jai alai frontons. Any tax revenues on the slot machines would be dedicated to schools around the state.

I thought it was funny, but was thinking on the lines of a gentleman's club complete with Disney dollars to use as singles. Just joking guys.

Also, I know someone said a few casinos does not mean more, but we started here on the coast with a couple and now have around 10. It is getting really bad because so many historic sites even churches are being destroyed for anyone who can get permission to create their floating casinos and multiple parking lots.

y'see, in PR, we integrated them into existing structures when we could... whether it meant expanding an existing hotel, or otherwise. My favorite example is El Convento... a hotel and casino built into a Convent

Is that the problem of the casinos, or the city for not zoning and regulating enough?

It is not in disney's interest to become a gaming capitol for adults only, however it is in there interest to provide some type of entertainment for every demographic not just families, or kids. Disney would not build a bunch of casinos on their property. Disney has the luxury of size and abilty to regulate its property much like a city. They have better control over what guest see and where they go. They could create a casino at the edge of the property near downtown disney with the rest of the adult entertainment and people who have no interet can stay away and never see it.

Also, since this is disney's property others casinos could not build on the property with out their promition, obviously they would not have any interest in that. Casinos owner could try to build off the disney property but I am sure disney would fight it and like always disney get what they want most of the time. But of course this is all hypothetical

Exactly.

Some people have a hard time seeing casinos as "another form of entertainment". Casinos are already abundant in the Orlando area, in the form of boats that travel into international waters. I don't see how one or two casinos is suddenly going to kill the magic for familes.

On another note, BeachClubVillas obviously does not agree with me, as she left me negative rep with neither her name or an explanation.......I have, of course, returned the favor.

If you don't agree with me, have the courtesy to explain your position.....unless you hold onto illogical beliefs that have no basis in reality.....if that is the case....please get help.

Most likely a little of both...

So, let's say a strip club and a Walmart Supercenter open in the middle of your subdivision......is it the fault of the two establishments (after all, we are capitalists) or the problem of the city for letting them build there.

The city...No offense, I am not trying to debate the ethics of gaming in Gulfport/Biloxi, MS. My concern is Disney World and it is my opinion as anyone else can post on here to express their opinion of gaming at WDW. I see your side, but I do not have to agree with it. Were you on the debate team at school? :)

Difference of opinions are welcomed here and encouraged, I think the point that speck is trying to make is not a difference of opinion on WDW gaming but where the blame should lay for to many casinos in a city. If some one doesn't want a casino in Disney World because they just don't like casino, that is their opinion, but when you start giving a reason why you don't want a casino (Crime, negative conotation, adult only enviroment, etc), then you are opening your reason up for debating and people have every right to debate it, if they have a different opinion about your reason.

I guess you can say I am debating your concern about debating. :)

Now it is the city....a few posts up, you said it was a little of both.

You have every right to express your opinion, as do I. It is my opinion that you are wrong to blame the casinos in Biloxi for building in areas that you feel are not ideal.....the city has the final say for zoning, and the state most likely has final say for the permit to operate a gaming facility. If you don't like where they are built, take it up with the city/state.
