Maingate Mall refers to the Maingate office building located on Sherberth road near 192. The building was formely a mall but was purchased by Disney many years ago and is now used to house various offices, meeting rooms, etc.

08/19/10 Update

A few permits filed today.

One for the refurbishment of all the "Spa and Pool Rules" signs at CBR, and one for some mechanical work at Central Shops.

However, the third one is most exciting to me. Main Entrance: Construct work tractor platform. Apparently they're getting ready to start the platform for the new monorail tractor's rail spur. It will be exciting to see the first-ever permit for "monorail track" work to come through soon!

Just wondering. If Disney is its own city (actually 2 cities), why do they have to pay fees for Construction Permits to the County?

Because, in most cases, the laws and ordinances of the larger government will trump those of the smaller government.

Even though Disney essentially runs its own municipalities, they still have to comply with state and local policies. With this said, they are required to file a Notice of Commencement anytime they make an alteration or improvement to an existing facility located within each respective county (Orange or Osceola).

They also obtain building permits from RCID.

13 wonderfully vague permits today, brought to you by Buena Vista Construction Company.

A few that I'll point out as intriguing, even though they probably mean nothing more than replacing a rotten board or painting a handrail....

Canada and Meet-n-Greet work at Epcot. Address puts MnG location at Mexico.

Haunted Mansion work at MK.

There is also painting of the building exteriors going on at CSR right now.

Looks like they're behind on filing the permits for the paint. They filed the one for the main building on the 24th and for Buildings 1-5 today.

Probably just more work on Donald's. Haunted Mansion work is interesting. Maybe the nextgen project is gonna happen?

Raven had said the HM nextgen queue was in the final planning stages. I believe it was MythBuster who said the Donald m&g would get a nice lighting package. Seeing that it doesn't have one at this moment, perhaps the permit is for that.

When BVCC does something, it usually means that it's something "magical" - as in something they can produce in Central Shops and install themselves rather than have a local contractor do it. So, Next Gen would make sense.

However, if they're adding lighting to a mng, I would almost expect them to hire it out to their favorite local electrician, ERMCO. But, perhaps it's theatrical type lighting and they're going to tackle it on their own.
