WDW or Universal Studio's???

Magic Kingdom must be the "part of Disney with all the roller coasters." :lookaroun

I love when people ask a "WDW or _____" question on a WDW site, btw. That's always a good way to get unbiased answers. Just like going to a Republican or Democratic convention and asking the people there which candidate you should vote for.

If you are used to WDW do NOT go to Universal. I was so disappointed. I heard so many good things about it and how it rivaled it and it was a huge let down. I am a huge roller coaster freak and that was the only thing that saved it was their good collection of coasters. I just found it very tacky and nothing like the Disney magic.

If your 10 year old is 54 inches tall and enjoys coasters, then I heavily recommend Universal Studios/Islands of Adventures. They have 4 excellent large scale coasters (5 if you count Mummy) as well as a healthy collection of family fun infused attractions. Jaws, ET, Jurassic Park, and Spider-Man are theme park classics that should definitely be visited (among many others!)

All I can say is, if you took a poll on here, you'd be surprised by the results of USF fans.

That very well might be but I didn't like it and don't expect to return for a while. Unless I have the chance to go experience Harry Potter when it comes out Disney will be getting my money.
After growing up in Tampa and living with Disney I just couldn't seem to like USF or IOA. The Disney quality wasn't there. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed some things in each park but I guess I'm just so absorbed in Disney.

We better not make a poll though, there have been some epically bitter WDW vs. USF threads even in my short time on the forums!

if it's possible i would definetly suggest a holiday in disney with a couple of days spent at us and ioa...i couldn't imagine going to florida without heading out to both resorts! they're both individual and offer a completely different experience to each other...uo offers more thrill rides and a more adult theme, whilst disney let's you be a kid again.

Whether this trip, or one in the future, you owe it to yourself to experience Universal (and other parks for that matter). At least it gives you perspective to compare.

IOA has the best dark ride ever created (and I'm going to guess that when Harry Potter's Forbidden Journey opens, it will have two of the best)

IOA also has the best theme park restaurant in the world, some of the most elaborate theming, especially at the port of entry and (what's left of) the Lost Continent.

Despite what some say, there are a LOT of attractions that are not rollercoasters, it is NOT a rollercoaster park.

It is most definitely the best non-Disney theme park in the world, and I would rank it and Universal Studios as better than AK and DHS as far as attractions, food and things to do.

You have been to WDW 4 times and Universal zero. See, this is why Universal is hurting right now when they should not. I guess the draw of WDW is so great that many people don't even bother visiting Uni. This is a mistake. I would always want to try a new experience rather than something I have already done before, provided the new experience had a good reputation. Universal's reputation is excellent, and many put it on par with Disney on many fronts. Others will put it above Disney, specifically teens and young adults. Universal takes more of the "rock and roll" approach compared to Disney's fairy dust. However, do not believe anyone saying that the attractions are not top notch. There are so many great attractions at Universal that should not be missed.

I seriously think you should go to Universal to try something new. You will probably still like Disney more, however you will have fun there and a 10-year-old boy is bound to love it and even prefer it.

We always make a 1day trip to Universal but then spend like 7 at Disney. Universal is a good park but you cannot spend the amount of time there that you can at the Disney Parks.

It has 4... including the two DD and Unicorn

That's a lot?

MK has 3....

ok, they're different types of coasters, cause I prefer to chill on vacation not feel like i'm at Six Flags Great Adventure. and the coastes at universal i'm not into, but i just don't like big crazy coasters. i didn't get to do the log flume due to the fact i had nowhere to put my phone or anything to prevent it from getting wet, and it was incredibly hot that day, so we ended up outside of the park in starbucks with airconditioning and couches, lol.

You make a great point. If you've already been to Disney four times, you'll essentially be experiencing the same attractions again - why not try a park with an equal quality that will provide you with completely NEW experiences that will fit right into your available time? 2 or 3 days is the perfect amount of time to become acquainted with the Universal parks, and based on what you've told us, I'm sure your son would love it.

They have lockers and there are other things to do at IoA and USF
