Without G-Force many people think Disney is just a money hungry machine. G-Force just gives them more ammo. I love Disney, but not their latest DSA movies. Hopefully PatF will change my mind. I bet it will :D

I love Disney's animated movies, and I fear PatF isn't going to be the huge success people think it will be...

Let me ask you, is Dreamworks greedy for pumping out 3 Shrek movies and a TV Christmas special??? How about Fox pumping out 3 Ice Age movies??? People can easily look at them as being greedy cause, well, the only reason the are being released is to make money, right???

Disney does the same.. They release movies with the idea of making money... So how come Disney is greedy but Fox, Dreamworks, Universal, Marvel, and other studios aren't???

I never said Disney or anything else aren't or are greedy. I just stated what I've heard from others.

Don't underestimate the power of 2D animation as well as the legions of princess movie loving little girls

Those other studios ARE ALSO greedy. Especially Fox and Dreamworks. Dreamworks is all about trying to appeal to the lowest common denominator through stupid humor and milking a franchise for all its worth. You wanna know why Kung Fu Panda was actually good? Because the executives had focused all their meddling into the sequels to Shrek and Madagascar. And Fox just LOVES to throw people into raging fits like what they do with their adaptation stuff or this whole Futurama recasting crud.

It's just that Disney has a reputation for quality work AND making a whole lot of money from it. But that whole business model fell to the wayside at some point, only now to be refound.

Agree with first part.

Second part I also agree and I think they need the Pixar help :ROFLOL:

Edit- Kung Fu Panda was a very good movie. Almost Pixar quality.... almost.

What is so bad about G-Force?

I'm not defending it but I just want to know, has anyone seen it yet and why don't they like it? (I personally think it looks like something made for kids in the single digit range.)

Okay...
Let me start by saying that my kids have been weaned on a diet of Disney and other animated classics. They are young, but I think they get a good storyline/plot/character development etc. as much as they can understand.
That said, we saw G-Force on Friday. Turns out it has nothing to do with the Japanese animated cartoon I watched on Monday afternoons when I was a kid. (I'm sure some of you remember G-Force, Grandizer, Voltron and all of those shows)
So here's my take...
it's not the spawn of the devil. It's not going to undermine the thread of our culture or cause the downfall of 21st century western civilization as we know it.
It is, in all likelihood, going to cause me to hear "P00p in his hand! P00p in his hand!" about 13 or 14 hours a day until something else comes along to divert my 7 year-old's attention. No, it is not particularly good, either.
It is a very fluffy, low on substance summer kid flick. Think Die Hard times American Pie divided by Wonder Pets and you'll get the idea.
The mice, however, I really enjoyed. Comic relief in its purest form. They are the Rosencrantz and Guildenstern of a movie about secret agent guinea pigs who P00p and fart!

I took my nephew to see it as well, and that's a great summary of what it's like. Another underplayed character was the hamster voiced by Steve Buscemi, unfortunately he wasn't a big focal point in the movie. I enjoyed it, but it's lacking any real substance.

Yeah, I kept waiting for the hamster to say something like "Why do I have to be Mr. Pink?!"

Here is some substance!

G-ForceBV $32,152,000

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood PrinceWB $30,000,000

You just read this on honor hunters site just like I did (and I knew you were going to post it)

Do you really believe this is a game changer? because it made slightly more money this week?

Chronicles of Narnia beat Peter Jackson's King Kong and Disney ended up dropping it. Think about that next time you post such foolishness.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince: 222,000,000

HP is a major release summer tent pole movie in only it's second weekend. G-Force is filler and with not quite (purposeful understatement) the same budget, marketing or hype or reviews. And yet it beat potter.

People are throwing inanimate objects at walls seeing this. Trust me.

The Narnia folks dropped Disney as a distributor. The new Narnia movie started filming yesterday. :sohappy:

And my numbers came from BO Mojo, not HH.

Just dropped in ... and what does G-Force or Potter have to do with Disney bringing back the Skyway (do I need a sarcastic smiley?)

I'm torn about G-Force doing well ... I want to see Disney do well, but I also want D-I-C-K Cook gone and replaced by Ed Catmull ... and that's more likely to happen if the Studios fortunes keep falling.

Anyway, was JT trying to make some ridiculous conclusion that G-Force was gonna out perform Potter?

I don't like feeding trolls but I'll point this out to anyone else who might join this bandwagon of stupidity.

G force made $2.2 million more on it's opening weekend than Potter in it's second weekend and the final tallies are not even in yet, but it apparently has more staying power than the sixth entry of a franchise which has made $222 million to date and took in some $32 million during the past week and doesn't have a fraction of the critical praise?

Moronic opinion spewed by someone looking for attention, nothing to see hear folks.

Pure denial and ratioalization.

Potter is not the phenom it's followers would have us believe. Don't shoot the messanger.

Not at all. I'm saying a poorly reviewed small picture defeated HP on only it's second Friday, Saturday and Sunday. HP will retake the lead at some point I think but that it lost it's lead so soon after it's release speaks volumes.

Yes, I was on THE SKYWAY. THE SKYWAY had many cool views. However, THE SKYWAY was just a carnival ride. Also, THE SKYWAY kinda took away from the themeing.

THE SKYWAY.:lookaroun:lol:

Back on topic, much?

The Skyway is being themed to Harry Potter? Who would have guessed?
