WDW is canceling Jan. 31st reservations at CRT to hold event for more $

They did, eventually. The OP was given CRT, etc. a different day, and OP was okay with that offer. I still think it sucks that they made those plans probably 180 days out only to have them upended 2 weeks before the ADR. And as mentioned, that can be the pinnacle of the vacation for them.

I can't see this as an acceptable alternative - the guy had BBB and CRT booked on the same day and now he has CRT one day and BBB the next. They should move BBB as well. Isn't that part of the magic - the girls get done up like princesses and then are off to a royal dinner?

Eveidence has been presented.
Yep. It's as I suspected and said previously. Maybe a few people unfortunately were able to book when they shouldn't have been..and Disney is finding them replacement times.
It's not the ideal situation, and I'd be annoyed, but it's a far cry from forcing them to eat at a quick service restaurant instead...or even anywhere else. Again, I'm assuming here, but I'm pretty sure based on your post quoting someone effected, that disney will find them alternative times for CRT.

Sorry, I think I worded my post poorly. I think they were given everything on the same day, just a different day than what they had planned originally.

Now who is assuming things?

Ahhhh - ok. That's better then - at least for that family. It's unfortunate though - doesn't sound like everyone was accommodated.

Fortunately they had space to re-arrange, I'm sure other parties aren't as lucky. Still, I'm glad to see they have their issue resolved.
From what I've been told from CMs is that there is always some available flexibility. I have moved meals up, back, and outright no show, all within an hour or few hours of my scheduled time, sometimes minutes before.
I can't be the only guest to have ever done that. I guess it's possible though, and maybe the reservations line and park CM were lying to me.

This situation sucks, I'm not denying that. I just think it's not as horrific or widely spread or not corrected mess that the OP proclaimed.

I'm sure Disney will try to squeeze people in as best they can into other openings. But lots of people schedule around BBB appointments.

Disney can offer all this crap they want. But they need to do it before people make all of their plans 6 months in advance

From the DisBoards:

"Recieved a call earlier tonight concerning our 1/31 6:50 dinner reservation at Cinderella's Royal Table.

The young lady said that dinner at CRT for that night was no longer an option due to "operational issues". She offered Be Our Guest for dinner or CRT for breakfast or lunch. I explained I already had BOG for dinner later in the week and wanted CRT for dinner. She said there is nothing available for dinner any other day during our stay.

Also, I have BBB reservations for the girls on 1/31 at 4.

Nothing was resolved and she ended up saying she would have another group call me to work something out. Not sure what to expect."
If the guests are on property for multiple days, there's no reason why they can't be squeezed in to CRT on another night. Reservations aren't that tight.

Have you ever "no showed" a prepaid dinner like that though?

Is that not an accurate summary of the post?

Hi 21! Me again! LOL I know, right?

Anyhoo, to fill you in, the most the OP said was that "folks" would have to make new plans, so maybe Marni did see turning that into "tons of people" and then assuming what the rest of the thread was about was a bit of an exaggeration. Sticklers, amirite?

I'm glad that you were able to find time to assume what the next 40+ pages will be about, do you know when RoL will open?

Back to the topic at hand, about your afternoon, I'm guessing fairly open and not too time consuming?

According to various sources... Disney is canceling guest reservations at Cinderella's Royal Table on January 31st so they can host a premium event there for $499pp

Guests get online and call 180 days in advance on the dot to be able to get in this place all to be thrown aside just so they can do something for... yep... you guessed it...the more elite for more money

So those folks that had reservations that will no longer be able to dine there has just a few weeks now to find a new place to dine at, most of which may be full already.

Congratulations Disney.... this is a new low
Happened to me Dec 31, 2014. I had booked Le Cellier for my wife and I 190 days out. Got a call in October that the venue was being used for a premium event that night. There were zero accommodations made for those being displaced. As you might guess, by then just about everything was booked for NYE at Epcot. I was mildly angry. And when I say mildly angry, I mean "angry enough that the CM who called to inform me of the change was audibly shaken by the vehemence of my oral onslaught." Ultimately, I got no satisfaction from guest services. So we ate somewhere non-special for NYE and life went on.

I appreciate this focused and direct comment, seriously! :geek:

I agree, I would hope Disney can find some wiggle room and get them into CRT. I feel most bad for the individuals who only have one day at MK and were planning their evening around CRT and cant be accommodated. I would hope the Disney Difference would kick in and offer them something on top of alternate reservations, that's pretty much the least they could do above nothing at all.

I'm sorry to hear that! I'm glad you got along ok, but I would have hoped for more from Disney than, well, nothing. That's not even basic customer service.

No not pre paid. I was charged $20 on our last trip bc we were a no show to SciFi.

My point was, they don't make reservations to where there is no wiggle room at all. Not from my experience, and not what I've been told, also it just wouldn't make sense.

I agree. I think for if any one day only people are effected they should be given an earlier dinner time or lunch time. The CM can also adjust their Fastpasses accordingly.

You're kind of an odd ball dude. Yes. Very slow. I'm home, have a gash in my forehead, and it's wonderful. I also have a Cub Scouts meeting tonight and have failed miserably at building what my kid thinks is going to be "the fastest!" Pinewood Derby car.
So, if you'd like to bring chicken soup or new wheels and axel for our car, or a paper bag to cover my face, just send it to a PO box. I'll take it from there. Thanks.
