WDW is canceling Jan. 31st reservations at CRT to hold event for more $

So no one's reservations were actually cancelled then?

But we're going to continue like there was...

Gotta love it.
I am not sure if we got confirmation of it happening but there was claims somewhere that reservations were moved due to this event. If it did happen poor move on Disney's part in my opinion. If it didn't I wouldn't blame the op that bad as they just want to know what is going on with this.

If, as one poster stated, the park closes at 8:00, what would be the latest reservation time booked at CRT? I don't know that answer, but if the park closes at 8:00, I don't see them offering reservations any later than 7:00 or 7:30, which would be plenty of time to turn over the customers.

If all of that is the case, the ONLY reason I can think that they would cancel reservations would be to allow more time for some sort of set-up for the event (not an excuse, just a theory). If the event starts at 9:00 pm, they would likely want to have all guests out by 8:00 pm (at least) for a quick vacuum, rearrangement of the tables, and possibly to set up some tables for horderves/drinks. From the best I can see, reservations for CRT go up to 15 minutes before the park closes (I was able to find an 8:45 reservation on July 14th when the park closes at 9 pm), so even if the park is open until just 8 pm, I could imagine some late reservations being canceled (wouldn't imagine it's that many, but some).

Oh hi 21! I was wondering when you'd get here. To catch you up before your next post, the vast majority of the thread are actually waiting for evidence and discussing it theoretically. :geek:

How is your afternoon?

The entire original post is claiming that tons of poor innocent people have had their dining plans changed..because they all had reservations to a restaurant that closed an hour before their reservation time?. Yeah, that's a little funny to me.

I could see, as someone else stated, maybe a few 8pm times were booked due to a glitch? That could be realistic, I would assume it's a small number if that happened, I'd also assume that Disney would find them another time to do the restaurant. Those are my own assumptions..so can't claim them as facts.

Hi 21! I'm glad that you were able to read the OP before posting about the rest of the thread and how we're all continuing in that manner, that's super!

To fill you in though, there's the whole rest of the thread where people are waiting for evidence :geek:

I'm more curious about your afternoon in case you missed that as well. Mine's been a bit ho-hum.

Can the other site's post be linked?

At this point, proof would be nice. At least a first-hand account.
Since I'm new here and don't want to violate any TOS rules I'm unaware of, I won't link it, but I will paste the OP:

Recieved a call earlier tonight concerning our 1/31 6:50 dinner reservation at Cinderella's Royal Table.

The young lady said that dinner at CRT for that night was no longer an option due to "operational issues". She offered Be Our Guest for dinner or CRT for breakfast or lunch. I explained I already had BOG for dinner later in the week and wanted CRT for dinner. She said there is nothing available for dinner any other day during our stay.

Also, I have BBB reservations for the girls on 1/31 at 4.

Nothing was resolved and she ended up saying she would have another group call me to work something out. Not sure what to expect.

Very frustrating.

As I said earlier, the OP was eventually given a replacement date/time for CRT and the others after not accepting the above offer and dealing with it over multiple calls. But hopefully this will put aside any doubt that there are people affected by this who had carefully arranged plans changed significantly at 2 weeks out. In a later post, the OP said there were 30 other groups similarly affected on 1/31 (because the CSR admitted that to him).

Do stop exaggerating.
Is that not an accurate summary of the post?
Those assumptions would probably be closer to reality than the absolute doomsday that is being depicted here
I just honestly thought the thread was funny. Literally chuckled out loud. It's all fine and good to assume, but before declaring something as Factual, maybe have a little evidence behind it? At least present said evidence to warrant what I'm sure will turn into 40+ pages of "Disney is the Devil!" bashing.
If it is a fact, then I'd like to know the results of the situation.

Follow up post from the above:

"Here is the update...

I received a call from the proprietor of CRT this morning. He worked with me to move our BBB and CRT dinner reservations to 1/30. He was very helpful and seemed to be sincerely sorry for the incident.

I explained that I had learned why we were bumped and understood the reasoning. He said that 30 parties were unconvinced. I asked him to whom I could express my comments / concerns about these actions and he referred me to Guest Services. I will be writing them a letter shortly.

In the end, I feel that I was provided an acceptable replacement for what I had lost. I am disappointed that this was allowed to happen and will express my disappointment. I really don't expect to receive anything more.

I want WDW to know that as a guest, a stockholder and big Disney fan, that I am disappointed in the way that this was initially handled, when I had done everything to ensure my family had a great experience.

Thanks for sharing information and your comments."

Eveidence has been presented.

Thanks for sharing.

That really sucks for that poster, I hope the "other group" come through with something though, I still have some hope in the Disney Difference.
They did, eventually. The OP was given CRT, etc. a different day, and OP was okay with that offer. I still think it sucks that they made those plans probably 180 days out only to have them upended 2 weeks before the ADR. And as mentioned, that can be the pinnacle of the vacation for them.

Imagine the outcry if her cabana was cancelled...

Fortunately they had space to re-arrange, I'm sure other parties aren't as lucky. Still, I'm glad to see they have their issue resolved.

With at least 30 tables (that the CSR admitted to) affected, it's doubtful everyone was settled as well. They may have accepted the original "Sorry folks, CRT's closed" offer and agreed to Cosmic Ray's as the alternative.
